We stayed here for one night last year and liked the rooms so decided to return for two nights for the same event this year. The room is spacious and comfortable with good curtains.
However, we realised that there is no basic housekeeping, despite the notes about towels in the bathroom. We had to ask to find this out, but not sure if this was an error or they don't have housekeeping during your stay.
Other thing was we express checked-in, to have to wait 20 minutes at reception to get a key. The next day, there was an envelope with a spare room key outside the building by the door that wasn't there before. Would flag this as a major security issue.
The worst bit about the stay was the pub and restaurants. We waited 40 minutes for some pate and soup and sliced bread as a starter, and then a further 45 minutes for our mains, which came with chips instead of mash. When asked they said, oh we ran out. When we said you probably should have told us that before/as we ordered, they said, yeah probably. No apologies, didn't seem to care, didn't bother asking if we wanted to order something else (we wouldn't have with the wait). They took a dessert off the bill after complaints but wish we had gone elsewhere.
Then, we waited 50 minutes for our avocado on toast and poached eggs in the morning. It seemed like all the other tables were having similar issues as no one had food were complaining. The next day's breakfast took 30 mins with only 1 other table occupied
