Wir fahren selbst. Die ursprüngliche Reise war ein anderes kostenloses Parken und unten ist ein Tramhaltehotel. Wenn die Reise durch Visaprobleme bestimmt wurde, wurde die Reise beendet. Es war nur wegen des gleichen kostenlosen Parkens gebucht. Es dauert 15 Minuten zu Fuß, bis die Zugbahnlinie in der Nähe der Bahnhofsbahnhof abläuft und dann in die Altstadt der Heiligen Blumenkirche und andere Attraktionen fährt. Aufgrund der Verkehrskontrolle in der Altstadt von Florenz kann man auf der Bahnhof parken, wenn man fahren kann. Von Hotel bis Bahnhof sind es etwa 15 Minuten. Aber wir haben die Altstadt zum ersten Abend um 22 Uhr gegessen und fahren zurück zum Bahnhof und fahren bereit. Ein kleiner schwarzer Bruder hat den ganzen Weg zum Parkplatz bezahlt, um Geld zu fragen. Es war noch ein Augenblick überrascht, es war gut, dass er keine andere Gewalt begangen hat, und wir gingen endlich fertig. Am nächsten Tag nahmen wir immer noch eine Zugfahrt aus.

The hotel is very centrally placed opposite the leather market of the Porcellino statue and just 200m from the Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is really a B&B, set on the first floor of a 16th century building, full of character and original features, yet modernised sympathetically. The door from the street can be accessed via a code, and the reception is up four half flights of stairs as the ground floor ceiling height is high. There is no lift. The reception is an attractive and pleasant seating area, with free coffee (Italian style only). There is then a door through to the apartments which is locked in the evening. The hotel has nine rooms it seems, some of which, like ours, are small suites. We had a bedroom, bathroom, sitting room and small walk in wardrobe. All the rooms were rather extravagantly decorated in pseudo historical style, ours with a four-poster bed. The seating in the sitting room was not excessively comfortable though – one good armchair and a rather uncomfortable bench-style settee. The bedrooms are arranged around a lounge area and a dining room which were used for breakfast, served on a table in the corridor. The choice of food was good – no cooked breakfast, but there were slices of omelette and cooked ham. There was a good range of bread and pastries, cereal, yoghurt etc. Coffee was made to order and decaff was available. Each day there was one person who came and made the breakfast and attended to check in etc, not the same person each day though they were all very helpful. On checkout there was a room where they could store bags, but access was limited to their working hours so you need to collect bags before 5pm. If you arrive after 5pm they can send video instructions so you can access the hotel and collect your room key. This worked fine for us, but you do need to warn them of any late arrival. Overall, it was a good place to stay, full of character, but limited in terms of not having evening reception, and by the lack of lift. Whilst there was no restaurant, there are three on the ground floor of the same building – a pizzeria, an osteria and an Irish bar, and of course a multitude in the surrounding streets. It wasn’t cheap, but then nowhere in Florence is, but was good for getting the feel of the city.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Aretemide Guesthouse was great for so many reasons. Walking distance from the Florence train station. Great communication prior to check in and during our stay. Great location, easy walking distance to everything. Room was small, but perfect for what we needed and we’ll equip. Right out the front door you have a cafe with wonderful cappuccinos and pastries, an Italian restaurant and a gelato store. We were also allowed to leave luggage before arrival or after check in, if needed. We left our luggage after check out, so we could explore some more. Although, it’s not secured. We felt very safe leaving our luggage. As it’s a 4 room guesthouse with only guest and staff having access. We stayed in room 4. Our bags were left in disturbed. Highly recommend!!

This hotel says that it has AC….and it does have AC units, but ours was broken. In the heat wave. We tried to get help with this twice, and they refused to do anything other than say “I don’t know, it will get cold.” This was after the AC had been running for 24 hours and was putting out room temp air (room temp was 28C). We know ours was broken because the unit in the lobby was pumping cold air while ours was not. Miserable. No offer to contact someone to fix it, to move our room, to give us any money back. We got no sleep for 2 days. Finally it was time to check out, and the staff were rude there as well. He kept banging on the desk yelling that our card wasn’t going through. Meanwhile, he charged us THREE times, so now we have to dispute the charge. Florence was lovely, but this hotel cast a shadow on the stay. Do not stay here.
