Markree Castle

From the moment you arrive you know you are gong to be looked after. Eoin on reception couldn’t do enough for you, very helpful. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, nice big bath in the bathroom, beds are comfy. The bar is very relaxing and the Guinness is tasty. Breakfast is amazing , Aoife, Molly and Brandon are fantastic waiters. The restaurant has lovely views over the garden. Two suggestion; 1. Guests shouldn’t be allowed to play snooker after a certain time ie: 11pm as other guests are sleeping or relaxing in their rooms. 2. Light bites or cheese boards should be available in the bar. ( not everyone wants to eat a full dinner menu). Highly recommended Markree Castle and we’ll be definitely back in the near future.

We recently got married at Markree Castle and cannot praise all of the staff highly enough for their excellent attention to detail, warmth and friendliness! They ensured the entire day went off without a hitch, all while making us feel so special. No ask was too big and the communication from the day we booked was beyond our expecations. We cannot wait to return to the Castle again and would recommend that anyone considering Markree for their wedding, do not hesitate and book. You will not be disappointed!

How can you feel at home in a 15th century castle? With the help of the most friendly and knowledgeable staff. They know the history of the place, they know that excellent service can be delivered without pretension and they know that excellent cuisine can be delivered without fuss. A fantastic experience in a beautifully restored castle in a beautiful part of Ireland.

What a day for a wedding !!! I cant express how beautiful Markree castle is. On entering a long drive you have sheep all sides and then you are entering the castle grounds. Grounds are exceptionally clean. Inside the castle is absolutely magnificent. Food is tasty and staff are very welcoming.

This is the Castle where dream do come true! And once upon a time there was a majestic Castle where wedding dreams began. From the moment we saw it 30 years ago we had a love affair with it. So we booked it in January 2023 and 15 moths later got married in all it splendour and beauty. Every bed unique and beautiful drawing rooms to relax with our guest. Then the food which was better than any Michelin restaurant in the whole of Ireland. The staff now thats the real reason that makes Markree magical. From Nicholas & Deirdre, Eoin and Emer who plan everything for you and do everything on the day. All we can say is that everyone else was wonderful and caring too all our guest. No wonder it is now the best wedding venue in Ireland.

The most incredible wedding venue. Setting, food, and staff were amazing, with a big thanks to Emer and Eoin for helping us with everything. Accommodation on site is spectacular. Our guests had the best time and loved the intimate setting of the castle and the a**osphere.

The best wedding venue you could possibly have. The bedrooms are beautifully presented and comfortable,the views wonderful. Loads of fluffy white towels in the luxurious bathrooms. Lovely dinner on the first night. Such a beautiful setting, it's just like a fairy tale castle. The very best thing about Markree Castle though is the staff. Everyone of them was smiling, friendly and so helpful. Impeccable service throughout our stay and everything you could want provided. Thank you all for a memorable stay.

The most scenic setting for a stunning wedding weekend! Everything about the experience was memorable and beautiful. Our room was comfortable, with a great view and a large soaking tub. The staff were attentive and very kind throughout the weekend. The food was excellent!

We were organising our wedding from England, but Niamh - the bride - was born and raised in Sligo. She'd always hoped to get married at Markree. We had particular ideas about what we wanted but, given that we lived abroad, didn't want to organise things ourselves through lots of different suppliers etc. The great thing about getting married at Markree was that they could handle so much of this for us, meaning we had fewer separate things to do. We used lots of suppliers from Markree's recommended list, meaning that everything came together seamlessly on the day. And where there were specific requests we really wanted, Markree were able to make those happen for us. Ahead of the wedding, the Markree team were really helpful, responsive, accommodating and friendly - they were always an email away if we ever wanted to ask a question. The day itself was everything we'd hoped for. The Markree team did a great job, and all the guests loved the place - especially those that had rooms there. About half the guests came from overseas and all were blown away by an Irish wedding at Markree. We got married in November, and the beautiful castle, with open fires and candles, felt like the perfect autumn wedding setting. Food was one of the biggest considerations for us - and Markree did not disappoint in this area at all.
