Balmoral Arms is situated in Ballater, not more than 12 km. From Balmoral Castle, in the Cairngorm National Park. A lot of possibilities for trips in the national park. Highly recommendable hotel. We were lucky to have live traditionel musik in the evening.

Had a lovely 3 night break at The Balmoral Arms, June 2024. Room was comfortable and clean, a little bit tired in places, nice large shower. Breakfast was delicious as were the two evening meals we had in the hotel. Evening menu was a little limited if you were to eat there more than a couple of nights. The staff were so friendly and attentive, especially the restaurant staff. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed our stay.

Restaurant was excellent. Although the venison pie was delicious, it came without the usual pastry crust because they had run out, yet our reservation was not that late in the evening. The pillows are either very thin and very firm or too thick and very firm - no soft pillows, which we prefer and as a result we did not sleep well. As expensive as this hotel is, this is inexcusable.

This hotel has been brought up to date but still retains a traditional atmosphere. The food is excellent and service is good. All staff very helpful. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. The location is good for walking. We would definitely return.

We were about to enter the premises on the evening of Tuesday 04 June however staff were sweeping the footway . There was who we now believe to be the general manager standing in the roadway however , she didn't mention broken glass until we re entered the footway seeking out an alternative entrance to the hotel . She ordered me off the footway in a terse manner instead of pre warning me stating there was broken glass . When I enquired what happened she duly replied "it doesn't matter " . Suffice it to say we didn't use the hotel and will not use any within the group if this is the style of leadership . Regardless of the situation it could've been handled better

We received a warm welcome and were helped with our luggage to our room which was up a few flights of stairs. Room was very comfortable and clean. If mobility is an issue - book a ground floor room. Food was good. All staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Hotel is in a nice location in Ballater

I had lunch today with a friend at the Balmoral Arms. The hotel was very quiet but we found the whole dining experience first class. We both wanted the fish but neither of us like battered fish. There was no problem with chef to have it breaded. When it came to the table, the presentation was great and the fish was delicious. I'm not a salad lover but the fresh salad and dressing looked and tasted lovely. John was just great and nothing seemed too much of a problem. He is a very valued member of staff. All in all the experience was first class and we will certainly be back soon.

At a family wedding, staff were AMAZING! so helpful polite and attentive nothing was a bother , thank for being so nice ,beds slightly firmer than I like but rooms were very well presented great shower, we loved our time there and would revisit again.

We loved staying here. The staff were very attentive. The rooms were charming and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was spacious and modern. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We did have one difficulty with a teapot, and the manager promptly brought a new one up.
