Hotel Old Nickel

黑店！位於***，店員應是老闆，好***感覺，兇惡罵人好恐怖！一間房間收取了兩間房間的費用！就是大約港紙二千蚊一晚收取了四千蚊一晚！trip.com完全幫不上忙！按制發現有兩間預訂房間已即時聯絡trip.com職員但仍然未能處理好取消，說時歐洲時間快英國時間一小時所以不能取消但按制後十分鐘左右當時有沒有說清楚。那個店員說trip.com都沒有聯絡他們取消過任何房間！被迫要收取我們兩房間的費用！最恐怖的事：這個房間有歐洲床虱！睡醒後手腳身一點點紅又痕！相隔兩個星期現在回香港看醫生才發現原來是歐洲床蝨！晴天霹靂！

整體感覺不錯。

Centrally located but right across from a noisy karaoke bar. No hot water. Both sink and shower drains were very clogged.

Great location. There are two beds laid side by side so it makes cuddling with your spouse difficult. The shower and sink drained water slowly so you have to be careful not to overflow anything. Beyond that, it was a great stay!

I booked this hotel as it was super central and the location fitted with my plans being only a few minutes walk from the station and access to the ferry across to 'This is Holland' where many of the day excursions leave from. I am really bad with directions so needed to be sure that airport to hotel and hotel to booked day excursion are easy to access. The girl at the reception in the old Nickel cafe, where you register, was really helpful. I had checked in advance if I could leave my luggage as I arrived mid morning. This was not a problem, but I would say the luggage is left in the kitchen and not locked up so don't leave valuables there. The room was tiny but clean at number 19 a few doors down from the cafe. It was the single room with the cute Dutch girl wallpaper and tulips. It served me well as I only needed somewhere to sleep. It is right opposite a karaoke bar, so if you are sensitive with noise this is not for you. It didn't bother me.

Charming Stay in the Heart of Amsterdam My recent stay at this hotel in Amsterdam was an exceptional experience overall. What stands out the most is its unbeatable location. It's situated right in the heart of the city, making it easy to access all the main attractions and immerse oneself in the vibrant nightlife of the area. It's worth mentioning that, due to its central location, the hotel is surrounded by numerous restaurants and bars. This may result in a bit of noise during the night, but personally, I enjoyed the lively atmosphere the area offers. Regarding the value for money, I consider it excellent. Although the room was a bit small, it's understandable given the context of being in the center of Amsterdam. The comfort and cleanliness met my expectations, and the price I paid was very reasonable considering the hotel's prime location. the staff's attention from the moment I arrived, they were friendly, attentive, and willing to help at all times. However, I must point out a minor inconvenience: the bathroom had a slight sewer odor. Although this didn't greatly affect my stay, I believe it's an aspect the hotel could improve upon to ensure a flawless experience for its guests.

It was a good price, great service and a clean room. Walking distance from the train station. Room was very small (single) but I knew that already by reading others reviews. Nice bartender and housekeeping did a nice job.

The rooms are very small considering the high cost of the hotel, almost the same as Hotel Victoria. The bathroom had a bad smell coming from the drain, and the beds were also small. Choose a room away from the street if you want a bit more tranquility. the hotel doesn't offer any additional amenities.

I booked the Old Nickel hotel purely from the vantage of location and price. The location couldn't be more perfect - a stone's throw from Amsterdam's central station (600 metres or 5-10 mins) and within walking distance of all of Amsterdam's major sightseeing attractions. I walked everywhere in Amsterdam and enjoyed strolling through the canals and waterways. There are several large supermarkets nearby and restaurants, cafes and bars numbering in the hundreds. No lack of food choices, this is for certain! I booked the single/economy room for one night. The room was very very small, but certainly manageable for one night. The room had a twin bed, a stool, under bed luggage storage (which was appreciated given the severe lack of room), and above bed shelving. There was a television in my room, but I couldn't get it to work. Lighting was good in the hotel, many electricity sockets including one above the bed, and the wifi signal was very strong throughout the hotel, even up on the third floor where my room was located. I left on an early train, so I didn't take breakfast at the hotel. I am not sure that breakfast is offered at this hotel though!? The bathroom was also a bit cramped, but I expected this. The toilet sat awkwardly underneath the sink, so I bumped into it often. The shower was enclosed with glass doors, the temperature of water was wonderful but the shower pressure left something to be desired. The bathroom amenities included hand soap as well as an in shower dispenser with a shampoo/body wash combination. A floor mat, a hand towel and a bath towel were also provided. Here's the double edged sword. The room overlooked a very busy street, which, in Amsterdam, didn't make for a restful sleep. I was awoken through the night by late night partiers in the streets as well as guests arriving to the Old Nickel hotel very late. Because it's an old building, you can hear pretty much everything going on around you, including inconsiderate guests. There is no lift in the hotel, and the stairs are incredibly narrow and very steep. This is quite common I'm finding in Europe - very steep, old staircases. Be very careful as you ascend and descend with luggage. The hotel sits above a bar, which must be owned by the same owners. I didn't eat there, so I cannot comment on the food or drinks. The woman tending to the bar and also the hotel was very pleasant and kind! I had a good stay here, and I appreciated that I was able to find budget accommodation in the heart of Amsterdam. I don't feel that the deficiencies above are necessarily the fault of the hotel, rather inconsiderate guests and party goers, so, I'd recommend this hotel to my fellow budget weary travellers. Overall, a good and budget friendly hotel in central Amsterdam!
