Amsterdam Oosterpark by Yays

We travel a lot to Amsterdam for work and this is by far the coolest place we’ve stayed. Great local community and dinning options. It was also close to grocery stores (Albert H. and LIDL). Also, I felt safe walking to the train/tram by myself, even in the late night hours. I highly recommend this property for anyone traveling to AMS and its surrounding areas.

Property was a good size, beds were very comfortable and location was good with greay amenities around.

Great location but you need to be fit to reach the apartment. 68 steps from street level to front door of apartment, no lift and quite narrow. Nice living space but no cupboards for clothes. Well equipped kitchen and sweet little balcony. Hot water in shower seemed to run out very quickly. Kitchen needs a toaster. Bed is up another 8 steps to a mezzanine, a little dangerous. Having said that, we enjoyed our stay in this quirky place.

Generally really enjoyed our stay in this apartment. We have two boys (13 & 10) so appreciated the extra space, living area etc. It’s very close to Muiderport train station - only 1 stop from Central, then a 3-4 min walk. A train goes straight there from Schipol without needing to change. The walk from muiderport isn’t very inspiring but don’t let that put you off. Go exploring in the other direction and you’ll find Oosterpark which is gorgeous to wander through, close by supermarkets and laundrette (which you need as apartments don’t have a washer). And decent cafes & pubs. Great crowd with uni students around. We walked into centre city & back, through the park - it’s easy enough with fit kids. Be aware with these apartments the steps up to the front door are VERY steep so be careful with heavy bags, and then again inside. We were on the lower ground floor and it’s very steep stairs down. There is no change of towels and it’s hard to dry them out - a few extra would be handy. Otherwise great - would recommend, if you’re fit & sturdy on your feet.

I wish the owners of this building would tell their customers that even though you're on holiday there are some simple rules for behaviour. These,apartment seems quite often to be rented by stag party groups. Living across the street looking right into these apartments is getting more and more frustating.

A really great location and they were very responsive and helpful.

A very tired version of the photos, clearly taken when new. Property much smaller than photos. Whole apartment smelt of vomit. No windows in 2nd bedroom, boiling hot. Window in 1st bedroom actually a patio door straight onto the street, so coukd only open if you were in there and not if you were asleep. So again, boiling hot. Student area, very noisy at night with smoking and talking right outside the bedroom. Apartment on busy road, tram runs late. 2 bathrooms, wetrooms that do not drain. Standing in own shower water the next day still. Do not stay here.

Upon arrival the remote key access wasn't working so we had to wait 90 minutes to gain access to the apartment. This was after 8 hours of travel with 2 exhausted children and it was the hottest day of the year so far in Amsterdam. The apartment is small and cramped, especially if using the sofabed, as we were. It's also extremely hot overnight even with fans blasting. If you leave the windows open there's constant traffic noise, sirens etc. We were woken constantly by the heat, noise and a malfunctioning light thay kept turning itself on. The management team were responsive and gave us a taxi on departure as compensation but I really would not recommend this accommodation, especially if travelling with children. The only good thing was its location. WiFi also kept dropping out and there was no TV remote.

The property was adequate but not suitable for hot weather as no air conditioning and patio doors were restricted to a small gap on opening. Sofa bed was uncomfortable. The stairs were very steep. Location was brilliant and the park near by was a life saver for the evenings to keep cooler with a picnic.
