We booked in June for February and had a fully refundable booking and cancelled in December. After 1000 requests via email and WhatsApp it was impossible to get our money back. We had to involve AMEX to get our money back. Never ever!

This is one of the most amazing hotels I have ever stayed in. Where do I begin?? Quaint, clean, nestled in a jungle mountain town at the base of Machu Picchu. The staff were more than amazing. They took extra care of us and we have never experienced such hospitality! The room/suite was a small home with outdoor showers and hot tub. (Do not get upset if you see that the water is not clear. This hotel uses fresh springs to supply their pool and individual hot tubs. Although this did not bother me, if you are put off by discolored water with no chlorine or chemicals, you may rethink your stay) I enjoyed the hot tub with no issues. The Inkaterra Cafe' was the highlight of our stay! Food was organic and fresh, taste was so clean and tasty. Our servers, and later to become our friend, Juan Diego and the staff at both restaurants were exceptional! Personal service was provided by all staff, the lobby, the hotel room service, they even came and lit our fireplace for us!! We had a fruit plate and handwritten letter upon arriving, the bed and pillows were the best ever slept on! I can not say enough about the people, staff, accommodations or atmosphere of this exquisite hotel! The town was 2 minute walk away, and had anything you may need, we even found sneakers (after a hard look) but we found them. Calientas town was quaint and we felt safe at every turn.

When we originally booked here as we wanted to to be right next to the hot springs on top of the hill. Little did we know we were lucky to have been at the best hotel in this man made town! The hot springs are literally behind the hotel. Lots of shops will rent you a towel as well. The staff at Taypikala were excellent, friendly and very accommodating. For our entire stay they treated us as family. A special thank you to Melissa who went out her way to make our stay extraordinary!! We also wanted to note the complementary breakfast was great and the perfect fuel before our hike to Machu Picchu. Would highly recommend and will stay again on our next visit to Peru!
