Wir haben zwei schöne ”King” Zimmer - sehr sauber und komfortabel, in hervorragenden Lagen. Das Hotel ist sehr bequem gelegen, um einen kurzen Spaziergang in die Stadt zu ermöglichen. Wir blieben zwei Nächte, und es gab besetzte Hochzeiten in beiden Tagen - aber es gab minimal Lärm, und die Hochzeitsgäste fügten die schöne Atmosphäre hinzu. Das Hotel schien fast vollständig für beide Tage gebucht zu sein, so dass die Feststellung, dass nur ein Aufzug funktionierte weniger als hilfreich war (wir wurden gesagt, dass der andere Aufzug ”für eine Weile” aus dem Geschäft war, weil das Hotel ”Warten auf Ersatzteile”? ) Besorgnis erregend ging der einzelne Arbeitslift nur bis zum vierten Stock, so dass wir unser Zimmer im fünften Stock erreichen mussten, unsere Taschen auf die Treppen zu springen - geringfügige Unannehmlichkeiten, aber unerwartet von einem so prestigeträchtigen Hotel. Unsere größte Grippe war (a.) das Fehlen von Parkplätze (ein Autopark hatte einen riesigen Markenmann auf ihn für eine Funktion errichtet) und (b.) wurde bei der Eincheckung gesagt, dass es eine Parkgebühr von £18 pro Nacht gab - obwohl auf der Website oder auf den Buchungsdetails. Es fühlte sich eher ”preiswert und klein”, wenn ein Hotel zu stoppen, um ihre Gäste für Parkgebühren zu parken in ihrem Hotel zu fliegen! Wir schätzten, es gab etwa 150 Autos - also gästen mit Autos subventionieren das Hotel um mehr als £2500 pro Nacht. Alles in allem, ein gründlich angenehmes Aufenthalt in einem wunderschönen Hotel in wunderschönen Umgebung - wir würden sicher wieder dort bleiben.

Yes the room was dated, and yes the room was hot. However the room was clean, comfortable and a fan was provided to help circulate the warm air. The windows have restricted openings most likely due to H&S but with the fan it was enough to move the warm air out and allow cooler air in. Check up was chaotic but the lady apologized and explained they had a member of the staff off sick. She worked her way through everyone as quickly as she could giving everyone the same warm welcome. Breakfast was enjoyable and the spa area was a delight offering everything you need. After checking out I realized I left my sunglasses in the room. The cleaning team were so helpful allowing me access to retrieve them and to double check I had everything

Das Hotel war sehr einfach zu finden und der Zugang war ziemlich gut. Gute Parkplatz-Veranstaltung mit dem Rat für 2 Tage. Enttäuschung das Hotel bot kein Abendessen, so dass wir ausgehen und finden, was nicht ideal war, als wir bei der Buchung ein Restaurant auf der Website bemerkt. Nur Coach Partys wären Unterhaltung offensichtlich. Frühstück bedeckte heiße & kontinentale, was für uns gut war. Unser Zimmer war jedoch weit von uns zufriedenstellend, aber wir tolerierten es und klachten nicht. Das Badtürhandbuch war schwierig zu öffnen, so anstatt es zu beheben, legten sie ein Zeichen auf die Tür und sagten uns, was zu tun.. Das Bad blind war auch gebrochen. Das sehr kleine Zimmer hatte ein kleines Bett, das weit von komfortablen war. Wir bezahlten viel für 2 Nächte, die wir bedauern, so leider werden wir nicht zurück.

Stayed here with my wife and our 2 grandchildren on 13th August for 1 night ,it was our first ever time staying at this hotel and although the location is excellent and from the first look of the hotel it looks amazing, the size,the architectural structure is stunning, the entrance is grand and once inside the lobby is huge with a big staircase in the middle. However after checking in at reception we took the lift to our room on the third floor, and for such a big hotel the lifts are way too small (supposed to fit up to 8 people, maybe 8 children but definitely not 8 adults). We had a family executive seaview room,fairly large sleeping area,1 double and 2 single beds and although the bathroom was modern, tiled from top to bottom, it had a bath with shower/tap combo instead of a walk-in shower area or cubicle, the room itself was very old fashioned and in need of an update, cracked and water marked ceiling and when I presumed the people in the room above ours were taking a shower the ceiling started leaking,dripping into the middle of the room wetting the carpet, we reported this one of the reception staff who just said they would visit the people in the room and see what was causing the leak ”probably using the shower with the curtain outside the bath” they said , we never heard anything back so it seemed like they didn't care. There is a nice large outside balcony seating area which would be nice to sit and have a drink over looking the beach and sea in the hot weather or on a warm night but on a night none of the outside lights worked so was very dark which was a shame. Breakfast options are very limited, sausage, bacon,eggs,beans ,fried tomatoes, toast and cereal . We didn't notice until the morning we left and I'm sort of glad we didn't but we found mice or rat droppings on the carpet,along the edges and in the corner of the room! Overall it's a shame as this hotel was probably amazing 30 - 40 years ago, needs a lot of updating to the rooms and just more general maintenance and TLC to to hotel could make it Grand again albeit very disappointed and will not be staying again unless it gets a complete renovation in the near future.

We had the most gorgeous stay at No.1 Guest House - if there wasn’t so much to see and do in York we would have happily just stayed in and enjoyed the hotel all weekend. The staff were amazing, especially Ellie, who made us feel so welcome and couldn’t do enough for us. We loved just sitting in the bar area with a cocktail (the rosy margarita was amazing) and looking at all the art and the cute steam train. The hotel is sooo cosy and perfect for this time of year. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful hotel only 10 minutes walk from the city centre  Our room was clean and cosy  In the room was hairdryer, iron and ironing board as well as tea/coffee facilities and an electric fan which was definitely needed with temps reaching 29 degrees 🥵 The outdoor area was stunning with lots of seating and little pods to dine in of an evening very pretty all lit up at night  All the staff were friendly and helpful  We will definitely return in the near future.

Das Hotel ist groß, keine Beschwerden. Aber wir hatten eine Art von Upgrade, in einer zusätzlichen Zahlung, auf den fünften Stock und es war eine massive Enttäuschung. Kein hoher Deckel, keine versprechende Stadtblick, warmere Temperaturen, die niedrigere Stockwerke. Nachdem Sie mehr als 400 USD bezahlt haben, fühlt sich das insgesamt sehr enttäuschend. Das Frühstück war gut, vielleicht zu viel.

Nice cosy room outside of the main hotel. Only window was a skylight that you could open, but it didn't give a lot of natural light. Bed was comfortable and shower good. Excellent amenities within the room including tea/coffee, ironing facilities and TV. Perfect location for exploring the city and the bonus of free parking. The continental breakfast was a little sparse and if you're a vegan, you may want to let the hotel know ahead of arrival. Despite the odd area for improvement, still very good value.

If you are Chinese, I strongly suggest thinking twice before staying here. I was first assigned a room in the side building that reeked of mould and had a broken bathroom sink. After complaining, I was moved to an accessible room on the same floor, despite having no accessibility needs — no bathtub, an absurdly tiny sink, and a mirror positioned for wheelchair users. If this was considered an appropriate replacement, perhaps they should have provided a wheelchair too. What made the room allocation even more questionable was that the floor, with around 11–12 rooms, appeared largely empty. And it certainly wasn’t because of good soundproofing — I could clearly hear guests talking in other rooms. So why was I first given a mouldy, broken room, and then an entirely unsuitable accessible room when the floor did not even appear full? Separately, there was a white female receptionist whose behaviour made the experience even worse: dramatic eye-rolling, a condescending attitude, followed by the most artificial “professional” smile imaginable. I cannot prove the motivation behind the room allocation, but as a Chinese guest, the entire experience left me feeling singled out and discriminated against. A terrible room can be an accident. Repeatedly questionable treatment is harder to explain away.

Ich blieb nur für eine Nacht, aber ich war beeindruckt von der angenehmen Erholung und der organisatorischen Fähigkeit des Personals. Mein Zimmer war sehr sauber und das Bett sehr komfortabel. Schließlich hatte ich ein sehr angenehmes Frühstück mit allen Mitarbeitern sehr aufmerksam. Ich würde sicherlich noch einmal bleiben, wenn ich jemals in der Gegend war .
