YHA Whitby's location is stunning - right by the 199 steps, St Mary's Church, the Abbey and with beautiful views across the river and town. It's a beautiful historic building with an absolutely lovely private garden. The table football was also much enjoyed! Abbey entry is free for hostel guests which was a bonus. However, it feels like it is coasting on its location and exterior, and was a disappointment compared with other YHA hostels. Firstly check-in is 3-10pm, despite the YHA website saying it's 24hrs (hopefully they will update this). There's also not a 24hr reception, again contrary to the YHA website. There's a sign directing you to the cafe out of these hours, but it was a big contrast to other hostels where there's usually someone around to ask for info, provide key for the luggage room, answer qs and deal with any issues even if you can't check in yet. Definitely not a warm welcome. The room was decent but the shower leaked all over the floor - a sign said to leave the showerhead pointing down to avoid floods, but the bath tap stuck out so much this meant you couldn't get under it and the mixer tap was awkward. I doubt that any of the management have tried showering in it. The bathroom is looking tired. No binliners in bins, and no storage in rooms either (they have changed completely from the TripAdvisor photos which are from 2016!!) Loud music from the kitchen underneath us at 730am on Monday morning. Overall, the hostel could do with some TLC - and will need it if features like the beautiful conservatory, where grass is now growing through the glass panes, are to last. The cafe is haphazard and the breakfasts a shambles - no trays, cutlery running out, coffee running out, juice running out (and not being speedily replaced as happens elsewhere), bits being left off the toast machine so the toast falls on the floor, etc. They seemed to only cook 4 eggs at a time and have no queuing system so we had to wait a long while for cooked breakfasts while others came straight in and were served immediately. Some staff were friendly but others were completely uninterested. We wanted to mention these issues quietly to reception as we left, but guess what... shutters up again and no one around.

Schön eingerichtet, genau das, was ich auf meinem solo reflektierenden Wandern entlang der klaffenland Weg wollte. Ein Stein wegwerfen vom Meer vor und kurz 10/15 min schöner Küstenschifffahrt zum Zentrum. Saubere, zeitgemäße und erstaunliche Gastgeber, die sehr aufmerksam und hilfreich waren. Das Hot Breakfast war wirklich schmackhaft und auch kalt Frühstücksbar verfügbar.Sehr geeignet für meine vegetarischen Bedürfnisse. Hilfsbereit bei der Gewährung von Punkten in Bezug auf die Interessen. Fühlte sich extrem sicher als einsamer Reisende. Danke.

Ankunftsdatum 21/22nd September 2022.... Zimmer 307. Auf den ersten Eindrücken schön gelegen Auf den nahezu angrenzenden Eintrittsschritten braucht ein guter sauberer und die Arme zu Velvet-Setzen in der Rezeption mit dem Schmutz von den Händen schön. Buchung in Personal wunderschön Aber der Aufzug war aus der Reihenfolge und wir waren auf der dritten Etage ich habe Asthma mein Nachbar ein Wanderproblem, wir haben ein Zimmer mit Meerblick, weil der Aufzug aus der Reihenfolge wir wurden ein 2. Etage Zimmer ohne Blick wir sahen das Zimmer , Wir weigerten uns wegen des Geruchs im Zimmer, so wir mit dem ursprünglichen 3. Stock, sehr groß, aber unweltfreundlich.Die Ansicht, wenn wir aus dem Fenster richtig gesehen hätten wäre auch das Fenster wurde zum Rahmen geschlossen, Kein Feuer entkommen, wenn es nötig, dann kam die Cobwebs nicht nur in der Ecke des Deckens, sondern unter der Wand, die Wandleuchten waren so schmutzig inner mit Staub es gab nicht das Licht, das es hätte haben.Headboard Dicke mit Staub, Bett Seitentisch Dicke Staub auf Beinen schütteln Brett Dasselbe, dann kam die Dusche mat, die Sie für Sicherheit im Bad stand so rang, als ich es aufhob ich es zerkleinerte es war schwarz mit Schaum und schwarze Form. Ich kann nicht einmal gewusst, wie lange es war, seit es gereinigt wurde. Natürlich haben wir den Manager angerufen, er war sehr entschuldigt und bot ein anderes Zimmer, wir hatten bereits ein anderes Zimmer gesehen und war nicht glücklich, er bot, unser Zimmer zu reinigen, während wir raus waren, was wir uns leider zugesagt, wer jemals er zum Zimmer zu gehen hatte Nur das Bad mat änderte und spritzte was, um das Zimmer zu stinken schön, aber als ich zum Fernsehen ging, konnte ich die Cobwebs noch im Licht sehen, so dass wir wieder überprüften und sicher genug, dass das Zimmer nicht gereinigt war, Sie können den Manager nicht dafür verantwortlich machen , sondern das Personal in der Hauspflege . Der König ist ein sehr prestigeträchtiges Gebäude und ist sehr lukrativ für Sie Geschäftstätigkeit, aber Sie lassen die Seite runter, wenn Sie nicht um die seiner Dekor und Kunden kümmern, da wir nicht die einzigen, die in einigen Schlafzimmern Beschwerden das Pflaster kommt aus der Wand durch Dampf und Geruch,die Treppen und Bannister wir scharf und ich meine scharf, Ich würde nicht diese Bewertung schreiben, wenn ich nicht dachte, ich brauche, um ,Alex der Manager war ausgezeichnet , Aber Sie werden ihn nicht lange haben, wenn er mit diesen vielen Beschwerden zu fertig werden muss, und auf der guten Seite, die Bar und das Restaurant waren gut, wieder das Personal war groß und wir lieben Anika, die war zuständig und sie hatte Zeit für die Gäste und ihre Bedürfnisse. Das Essen wäre mit ihr verliert, während wir in Whitby mit den Einwohnern chatten und leider der König als Tauch bekannt ist, die sicherlich nicht gut für den Geschäftsverkehr ist. Und am Schlusspunkt waren wir scheckig und arbeiteten, wie viel Sie machen @£75 eine Person nicht ein Zimmer pro Nacht so, bevor dieser goldene Geist um Ihre Ohren fallen, etwas zu tun, um ein Reinigungsteam dort zu bekommen und eine tiefe Reinigung und und Bauern zu reparieren. Alex war genügend freundlich, uns einen Rabatt auf die ersten Nachtgebühren zu geben. Es ist eine Schande, dass das Personal diese Beschwerden zu ertragen hat.
