Booked in for 1 night to have a rest in some luxurious surroundings after a lot of travelling around the country visiting friends. Hunday Manor is a beautiful old house in a fantastic spot on the side of a hill with a great view. The hotel is very well appointed and the rooms are well looked after. The quality of the food for both an evening meal and the cooked-to-order breakfast was excellent. Perhaps the only facility I would add is a few overnight EV charge points in the car park. The service however was rather comical, starting with check-in. After confirming my name, 1 night stay, and printing out the reservation sheet, somehow the chap on reception muddled up my solo reservation with a couple arriving on the same day who were staying for a couple of weeks and gave me their room. After settling in for a much needed afternoon nap in the very comfortable bed and 'locking' the door on the inside, the rather startled couple walked in having been given a card for the same room. From that point on I never really managed to relax. I offered to move room when I went down for dinner later on, but the chap declined and mumbled something odd about the length of stay and seemed to point at the paperwork suggesting I had signed it making it my mistake! Sigh. Things didn't get a lot better in the restaurant. Myself and another solo traveller were given tables at the back (by the same chap), seemingly to keep us out the way of the couples who arrived later and were seated at the windows. When either of us asked questions about the menu there was lack of understanding about the dishes.. I was then asked around half a dozen times by multiple staff if everything was ok. Meanwhile I could hear one of the couples quitely chatting about their room, no doubt the room I was in. Upon trying to put the bill on my room, the same chap from earlier left me at the bar with a card machine asking whether I wanted to add a tip. At breakfast the next morning it continued. When I arrived the first breakfast room was full of tables needing clearing so I was given a table in the same area where I had dinner. This time given a table at the window but right in front of the only other guest, a lady already eating her breakfast. My table wasn't set so inexplicably the waiter clumsily took a second place-setting from her table while she was midway through eating! After dusting a few crumbs from one of the plates I enjoyed my breakfast. Towards the end of eating the staff were discussing how to rearrange the room for an event later in the day and started moving things around. After hearing the same couple from dinner asking to be told when their room was made available, cleaners were hanging around at the bottom of the stairs when I returned to the room. Nothing like a bit of a hurry up to finish breakfast and get out of your room to make you feel like a valued guest. Upon check-out an apology and a chat but by then the damage was done. No offer to comp a drink (or dinne)r after making a mess of things either. It's a lovely hotel that could offer a real 5-star experience, but the service ended up more like an episode of Fawlty Towers and needs a bit of a rethink. Next stop China.

Großes Hotel, sauber und komfortabel! Der Badewanne ist heiß und sehr komfortabel. Selbsthilfe beim Aufenthalt, das Zimmerpasswort wird am Tag des Aufenthalts an der Postbox geschickt. Das gesamte Hotel ist ruhig, der Parkplatz ist ausreichend, unser zweites Zimmer ist sehr gut für eine dreifache.

Rum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself. We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area. Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too. We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful. After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks. We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny

Had a lovely 2 night break away from 26th December and the hotel staff were friendly and welcoming, gave local knowledge and recommendations on where to go walking… the breakfast was good value for money and caters for both vegetarians and vegans. There may not be onsite car parking but the recommended car parking made available at the local cricket club for only £2 per day is only 4 minutes walk away and convenient. Thank you also for all the communication before our stay, greatly appreciated 😊

Ich habe ernsthafte Missverständnisse über Hotels in den wirtschaftlichsten Teilen des Lake District, vor allem in Urlaubszeiten. Sie werden natürlich unaufhörlich überzogen, mit harsen und unfreundlichen Mitarbeitern. Ich wollte für eine Weile zurück in die Proper Lake District gehen, obwohl es ein Risiko auf dem Königs Kopf genommen hat. Es ist einfach auf dem Ohr zu finden, die Hauptstraße auf Grasmere, gerade über die beeindruckende Menge von Steel Fell, in der Nähe von Thirmere. Parkplatz überall in den Seen ist hideux und teuer. Nicht hier. Entspannt und reichlich Zimmer. Es ist ein langes Gebäude mit einem angenehme Bar-Restaurant und Biergarten. Ich fand eine ziemlich angenehme Wohnzimmer, wo eine Lady namens Jo mich incheckte und mich begrüßte. Es wird bemüht, den Handel zu verbringen, aber die Mitarbeiter schauen nach ihren Bewohnern. Sie flog mich anständige Realale und Jura-Whisky (das richtige Ding). Das Frühstück ist brischtisch aus einem Menü serviert und ist gut dargestellt. Ich habe sonst nicht gegessen, aber das Essen ist beliebt und gut gepreist. Die Straße draußen ist besetzt und ein bisschen rasch, und die gelegentliche Kampfflugzeuge rührt zwischen den Bergen auf niedriger Höhe, aber die unermüdliche Blässe der Schafe im Gegenteil bald wieder normal. Ich war ein wenig entschuldigt, aber der Manager sagte, er hoffte, ich würde wiederkommen. Ich glaube, ich werde, und ich werde sogar meine Frau bringen.

£200 for a basic room for one night was a bit on the pricey side for me, however it was nice all the same. A few of the photos of the basic room are misleading. The photos show a four post double bed which is not the case. We found out later this is actually an executive room despite it being labeled basic. We found out that the hotel location is accessible by bus from Oxenholme train station (despite being told the opposite) and has a great view of beautiful fields. Food in the hotel is good but expensive... My eyes nearly popped out their sockets when I saw the £8.00 charge just for the tiniest amount of table bread. I'd say this was probably the reason the restaurant was empty despite being told we need to book a table due to its popularity. Swimming pool and steam room are average for the price. Staff are friendly and changed our room to a double bed room free of charge after mistakenly putting us in a twin bedroom.

Wir reservierten das Superior Doppelzimmer und ich fühlte es gut wert, das extra für die wunderschöne Aussicht, die wir von 2 großen Fenstern hatten - ob der Himmel sonnig oder wolkenig war. Die Lage war ausgezeichnet - innerhalb von 5 bis 10 Minuten zu Fuß zur Stadt und zum Derwent Wasser und Parkplatz war gut erläutert und umfassend. Auf dem Eingang des Fellpack Hauses war es angenehm, gut betreut und eingeladen. Unser Zimmer im oberen Stock (Treppen ganz oben) war direkt aus einer Home & Decor Magazine. Die Ausstattung, die Möbel, Handtücher und Getränke waren Qualitätsartikel und wir sahen, dass sie auch lokale Quellen Seife und Getränke verwendeten. Hauspflege war täglich und ich liebe, dass die uns jeden Tag leckere, getrocknete Schokoladechip-Küchen gab! Das Frühstück war frisch und süß. Dass sie als Restaurant (das über die Straße arbeitet und hoch bewertet) in ihrem Frühstück durchfahren - ich essen so viel und es war jeden Kalorien wert! Wir trafen viele im Laufe unseres Aufenthalts und jeder von ihnen war warm, chattisch, hochkundenorientiert und witty! Kannst du mir sagen, wie sehr ich unseren Aufenthalt dort geliebt habe 😀

1. Das Hotel befindet sich in einer sehr guten Lage, der Weg zum Schiffshafen ist in 10 Minuten. Es gibt viele Restaurants in der Nähe und die Speisen sind sehr bequem. Das Zimmer ist groß, es gibt einen Wohnzimmer, überraschend, aber der Wohnzimmer ist am Bett, neben der Straße, einige Schmutzstücke früh und Nacht, insbesondere die britische Autogeschwindigkeit ist im Allgemeinen schneller und etwas beachtenswert. Frühstück ist vorbereitetes Brot, Joghurt, Milch und andere, manche im Kühlschrank, manche im Lagerhaus, nicht zu viel erwarten. 2, wenn Sie sich selbst fahren, und die Rezeption brauchen Sie eine Parkkarte, 3 Pfund pro Tag, unbegrenzte Parkplätze, es gibt mehrere Standorte, die Sie parken können, es ist wirklich sehr bequem. Wenn Sie gehen, können Sie zuerst zum Parkplatz fahren, und wenn Sie zurückkommen, können Sie die Schranke und die Parkkarte auf die Rezeption setzen.

Der Ort war erstaunlich und befindet sich in einem tollen Ort. Sehr nahe zu vielen Einrichtungen wie Bars und Restaurants sowie einige Geschäfte. Das Personal war erstaunlich und so freundlich. Wir wurden gedacht, wie wir zu Hause waren. Unser Zimmer war riesig und hatte einen großen Blick auf die Gärten. Das Frühstück war hervorragend und sehr schmackvoll empfohlen. Wir werden sicherlich in Zukunft hier bleiben.
