This place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

Das Hotel hat eine ausgezeichnete Lage, ganz in der Nähe des Südbahnhofs. Wenn man die U-Bahn an Ausgang B verlässt, ist man in zehn Minuten zu Fuß dort. Es gibt viele Restaurants in der Umgebung und einen Parkplatz, was es sehr praktisch für Selbstfahrer macht. Das Personal ist herzlich, engagiert und verantwortungsbewusst. Die Zimmer werden pünktlich gereinigt, und Obst und Getränke werden täglich aufgefüllt. Die Zimmer sind groß und bieten eine tolle Aussicht. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig, und das Servicepersonal grüßt die Gäste immer freundlich und räumt schnell ab. Sehr empfehlenswert, ich komme gerne wieder.

I can’t say enough good things about my stay at this incredible homestay on Dongshan Island—it’s hands down one of the best accommodation experiences I’ve ever had, and I’m already counting down the days until I can come back. From the breathtaking sea views to the thoughtful, attentive service, every single detail made my trip unforgettable, and I’m so glad I chose this homestay for my island getaway. First and foremost, the seaview here is absolutely stunning, beyond anything I could have imagined. The homestay boasts an unbeatable location with unobstructed views of the endless blue sea, and I spent every spare moment just admiring the ocean, both morning and night. Waking up early to watch the soft golden sunrise glisten over the water, with gentle waves lapping against the shore, was the most peaceful way to start each day. As the sun set, the sky painted itself in warm hues of orange and pink, reflecting beautifully on the sea, creating a romantic and serene scene that took my breath away. Even at night, the quiet glow of the moon on the water and the soft sound of waves made the view just as magical. I took countless beautiful photos during my stay, and every snapshot perfectly captures the mesmerizing beauty of this place—no filter could ever do the real scenery justice. What surprised me most is that the homestay is even more beautiful in person than the online photos. When I booked the room online, the pictures looked lovely, but I didn’t expect the actual space to exceed my expectations by such a large margin. The interior is cozy, clean, and tastefully decorated, with large windows that frame the sea like a living painting. Every corner of the homestay is well-maintained, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The layout is designed to maximize the seaview, so no matter where you are—whether it’s the bedroom, the living area, or the small terrace—you can always feast your eyes on the gorgeous ocean scenery. It’s clear that the host put a lot of love and care into creating this wonderful space. The service here is incredibly thoughtful and attentive, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The host and all the staff are friendly, warm, and always ready to help with any needs or questions I had. They were quick to respond to messages, offered useful tips for exploring Dongshan Island, and went out of their way to make sure I had a comfortable and pleasant stay. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and their genuine hospitality made me feel valued and cared for throughout my trip. Unlike many other accommodations where service feels impersonal, this homestay’s service is heartfelt and dedicated, adding an extra layer of warmth to the entire experience. I’ve traveled to many coastal destinations, but this homestay on Dongshan Island stands out as a true gem. The combination of picture-perfect sea views, stunning in-person beauty, and top-notch, thoughtful service is simply unbeatable. I left with so many wonderful memories and a heart full of joy, and I will definitely come back again and stay here on my next visit to Dongshan Island. ⭐ 5/5 — A Truly Exceptional, Warm-Hearted Stay at Zengcuo’an Village ⭐ I travel often and have experienced many different types of hotels and accommodations over the years. From 25 Nov 2025, I stayed at Hua Cai Xiao Zhu · Florich 民宿 (环岛南路曾厝垵店) for 12 nights, and extended my stay by another 3 nights because it genuinely felt like home. That alone says everything. 😊 From the moment I arrived, the experience was not just comfortable, but deeply warm and reassuring, thanks to the owner and housekeeper who went out of their way to make sure every detail of my stay was taken care of. 🙏 I stayed in the Huacai Balcony Tub Room on the 5th level. I believe this is the only accommodation in Zengcuo'an that has an elevator. The room was very clean, modern, and thoughtfully equipped. The large bathtub and giant HD projector made every evening wonderfully relaxing. The balcony overlooks Zengcuo’an Village and is just 50 metres from the village church. I even enjoyed a beautiful sunrise at around 6:30am right from my room. 🌄 The location is outstanding. It’s about 200 metres from the main entrance of Zengcuo’an Village, surrounded by everything you could possibly need. There are countless eateries nearby, including my personal favourite right in front of the accommodation — 福鼎肉片小吃店, run by the warm and amiable 美金姐, a 56-year-old local lady (highly recommended!). 😋😋 Convenience stores, fashion and accessory shops, souvenir stalls, luggage shops, spas, travel agencies — and even a McDonald’s — are all within easy reach. 👍👍 Several attractions are also within walking distance, including Pearl Public Beach and Music Square. One of the smartest ways to explore Xiamen is the CNY 50 hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus (24 stops), with the bus stop conveniently located right in front of the village on the right side. It’s honestly the most affordable and efficient way to see the city. What truly made this stay exceptional, however, were the people. 👬👭 The owner, 许老板, is incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. He patiently gave directions, recommended places to visit, pointed out nearby essentials like the bank and pharmacy, and even allowed me to store my luggage while I was away for a few days. When I checked out, I was down with a cold — he not only helped with my luggage, but also personally drove me to the airport, making sure I arrived safely. That level of care is rare. 💯💯💯 The housekeeper, 秀容, is equally wonderful. Always smiling, always attentive, she made sure I was comfortable every single day — from providing extra water, tissues, and towels to quietly checking that everything was in order. Her warmth made the entire stay feel effortless and homely. . One last tip: don’t miss the sunset. Walk across the overhead bridge from the village and enjoy the beach scene between 4:30pm and 6:30pm — it’s absolutely unforgettable.🌻🌷 Overall: highly, highly recommended. Die Lage des Hotels ist äußerst günstig, direkt neben der U-Bahn-Station und an einer Einkaufsstraße. So kann man bequem spazieren gehen, morgens oder abends spazieren gehen oder Sport treiben – ein wichtiger Grund, sich für dieses Hotel zu entscheiden. Alle Hotelangestellten waren sehr freundlich! Allerdings sind die Hoteleinrichtungen veraltet und entsprechen nicht dem Fünf-Sterne-Standard. Es gibt beispielsweise keinen beheizten Swimmingpool, und die Fitnessgeräte sind spärlich und alt. Die Zimmerausstattung ist mangelhaft, die Kissen sind besonders weich und niedrig, der Fernseher ist veraltet und klein, und die Toilettenartikel entsprechen nicht der Qualität eines Fünf-Sterne-Hotels. Obwohl das Hotel in einer Teeanbauregion liegt, sind die Teemarken nicht sehr bekannt. Der Waschsalon mit Selbstbedienung ist sehr praktisch, weshalb sich wahrscheinlich viele Familien für dieses Hotel entscheiden. Mit nur drei Waschmaschinen und Trocknern ist er jedoch trotz seiner Verfügbarkeit nicht besonders komfortabel. Das Frühstücksangebot besteht hauptsächlich aus lokalen und chinesischen Gerichten, was familienfreundlich ist, aber geschmacklich nur durchschnittlich.

Das Zimmer war sauber und komfortabel; ich hatte während meines Aufenthalts keinerlei Hautirritationen. Auch die Toilette war in Ordnung und roch nicht unangenehm. Der Zugang erfolgt per Karte, und die Zimmereinrichtung gefiel den Kindern sehr gut. Es gibt einen kleinen Balkon, auf dem sie im Wasser spielen können. Auch im Zimmer selbst gibt es Spielbereiche. Ein intelligenter Roboter serviert die Mahlzeiten, und einige Funktionen lassen sich per Sprachsteuerung bedienen. Morgens wird ein Frühstücksbuffet mit chinesischen und westlichen Speisen angeboten; der Geschmack ist akzeptabel, die Auswahl jedoch nicht sehr groß. Die Fußgängerzone befindet sich im Erdgeschoss, was das Einkaufen erleichtert, und auch die Anbindung an den öffentlichen Nahverkehr ist sehr gut.

這家黃厝沙灘附近的親子民宿真的是帶娃福音！親子房的滑滑梯、海洋球池讓娃玩到停不下來。房間寬敞舒適，窗簾遮光效果好，這個房間是單獨隔開的，可以説是獨享庭院景色。1米8+1米5兩張床，前台還提供可愛的小童枕頭，大人小孩都睡得舒服。換房的時候看到阿姨用吸塵器打掃海洋球池，衞生讓家有敏娃的我很放心。老闆的服務非常體貼，提供公用雨傘，免費的挖沙工具，庭院有洗沙子的水壓槍，前台備着防蚊水、蚊香液，還有帶娃剛需的洗衣房，洗衣機乾衣機都有。酒店距離黃厝沙灘五百米，娃每天上午的活動就是挖沙，玩的不亦樂乎。周邊美食一條街，吃也很便利，在這裏連住三晚都覺得值，來廈門帶娃選這兒準沒錯！

Das Hotel besticht durch seine hervorragende Lage, die umfassende Ausstattung und das exzellente Frühstück. Parkplätze in der Tiefgarage sind bequem zu erreichen, und eine Ladestation befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe. Die Executive Lounge bietet ein angenehmes Ambiente und köstliche Speisen. Der Butler Xiaoxi war äußerst zuvorkommend und half uns, ein ruhiges Zimmer in einem der oberen Stockwerke mit Flussblick zu organisieren, von dem aus wir die Drohnenshow zum Nationalfeiertag auf dem Minjiang-Fluss direkt beobachten konnten. Ein fantastisches Erlebnis.

Der Aufenthalt war insgesamt gut. Das Zimmer war sauber und komfortabel, und das Personal war hilfreich. Einige kleine Dinge konnten verbessert werden, aber es war immer noch eine angenehme Erfahrung
