We have stayed at this property many times over the past couple of years as we prepare to relocate to the Asheville area. This is the first time we've been disappointed.
Though my Marriott profile indicates preference for an upper floor room, we were assigned a room on the first floor, next to a utility/ work room and diagonal from the indoor pool. As the hotel was full, we did not ask to change rooms and since we were just there for one night, decided to roll with it.
Entering the room, we found the A/C on but a very damp, humid feel to the air. We turned down the thermostat, thinking that would help dehumidify the air and make the room more comfortable. Unfortunately, even after returning much later, the room remained uncomfortably damp. But again, full hotel, one night, and not much to be done about it at 10pm.
The room carpet also felt damp and sticky, which is surprising given that this is a relatively new property. It's not that there was a single spot or area that felt damp and sticky - all of the carpet felt that way. Icky. We kept our shoes on.
Breakfast Sunday morning was disappointing. While I don't set an especially high bar for an included hotel breakfast, many items ran out over and over all morning. This is surprising because if I knew the hotel was full, surely hotel management knew that as well and could have adequately supplied and staffed.
We will be traveling to the area many more times in the next year, but will look to stay elsewhere.
