Found this place while house-hunting, and had stayed in a few of the other local towns first...WOW I am so glad I didn't stop looking because Hotel SJ is the bEST!!! Always clean, quiet, affordable, and very well attended by a lovely staff of multilingual, kind and friendly people. Plus it's walking distance to several excellent restaurants and beautiful, sparkling clean Tondela. Excellent breakfast bar with plenty of protein and whole foods. Yummy room service options. Plenty of parking and bonus: most of the rooms have a real bathtub, for that private spa-like experience! I've stayed there twice now, for several days each time, and I'll be booking my third stay today.

Stayed here end of July for 7 nights and for the price I was not expecting much. I arrived at around midnight and the staff were very welcoming and efficient. My room was clean and serviced every day, there is a nice bar with reasonable prices. Plenty of selection at breakfast for all tastes, just a shame there was no fresh fruit (if there was I missed it sorry). I will visit again as I have family in Tondela, and I would recommend it to other family members.

A lovely friendly hotel near to the town centre. Staff are all helpful and happy to oblige helping you with anything. I don't yet speak Portuguese but everyone spoke enough English to understand me. The breakfast is plentiful with cold meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurts, juices and water, cereals, various breads, cakes, jams and spreads, a coffee machine which also dispenses hot water for the great choice of teas. Also a choice of semi skimmed, rice, oat or lactose free milks. As soon as someone has finished breakfast, dishes are cleared and tables cleaned. The hotel itself is spotless and the rooms smell clean every time you walk in. Although I hung towels up for teuse, I am sure they wete changed every day and bedding every other day. They supply toiletries and there is a hairdryer, coffee machine and bottles of water. Rooms have aircon/heating and tv. I had a balcony room overlooking the pool and could also see into Tondela's football ground. If I had any negatives it would be the hotel needs some TLC but maybe when the world us back to normal, this may be attended to. The SJ will be my first choice next time I stay in Tondela
