Platinum Yucatan Princess Adults Only - All Inclusive
4.1/5102 Bewertungen

Ths was our fourth visit - the previous ones being in 2017, 2019 and 2021. We had heard that there had been some changes but then, all hotels change over time. A week before our arrival we requested one of the refurbished rooms and were located one. Refurbishment started on one block back in 2019 and it appears that nothing has been done to any of the other blocks since then which is not good as they were all very dark rooms and in desperate need of refurbishment. Our first surprise was that you can no longer book all of the restuarants as in previous years. You could only book for Mia Casa and Klay Talay. To book all the restuarants you had to be a ”Member” (whatever that was). The Culinarium had had its roof tiles removed by a hurricane and as such, was closed and the Seaside Market no longer opened in the evening. This meant trying to get into any of the other restuarants was a nightmare as waiting times were from thirty to one hour forty minutes. Even after waiting so long, both the service and food quality was not as good as previous years. The staff seemed stressed and who could blame them. On one visit to the Klay Talay, we waited at our table for twenty minutes before we were offered a drink and then waited a further forty minutes before our food order was taken. We tended to have lunch at Driftwood where there was waiter service. The staff here seemed a little calmer though when we queried why portions of chips (French fries) only contained six pieces they just shrugged. One of the reasons we have had four visits to this hotel was that there is a tennis court and we like to play every day. It has never been in great condition but was always playable - not this time. No maintenance had been carried out in years, the surface was bubbled and cracked and it had holes. The rubbish bin had not been emptied for ages and the gate wouldn't close. I could go on but this shows the depth that this hotel has fallen. There are clearly budget issues which are affecting the maintenace , the staff and the food, I understand that there are new owners and that they intend to sell some of the rooms on the American side as time share. We wiill not be returning.

I forgot to post this review from last year. But just had clients there and it still stands to be true. I loved the it!!! It is a solid 4* property. And yes, I will be returning as this is my type of resort. (I do not like huge sprawling properties) Property: gorgeous. Lots of jungle and plants. Great paths to walk and run on. Lots of wildlife including monkeys. There is a long peaceful walking path from the main lobby to the pool and beach - just beautiful. Pool: good. I thought there would be issues getting chairs, absolutely not the case. Loved the different sections in the one pool. Easy entrance for those with mobility issues. Pool bar made great drinks. Beach: phenomenal. Amazing sunrises. It had lots of chairs and also had mobility access for wheelchairs. Food: solid. Buffet was good quality but not a HUGE selection. Lots of Mexican (which I love). The al la cartes were decent. Loved the Mexican. The Tapas, good but not exceptional, and The Grill was good. Loved the taco bar and the food trucks. The Pizzeria was good but they need to cook the dough longer. They serve Pepsi products here, which is a huge bonus for me and there is a self serve machine near the Palapa Bar and that made a huge difference. We brought our own cups with us. Rooms: we upgraded to Privilege and were in the COBA section. The room was HUGE and the ground level was lovely. It was very quiet. Room came with a scale so you can weigh yourself at the beginning and end of your vacation. Bed was comfy. TV mostly got Spanish channels but we streamed movies at night. Privilege: upgrade your clients to the Privilege. The BeLoved restaurant was really good quality and service. Seperate section on the beach with beach service. Things that I liked a lot - quiet and respectful - solid food - upgrade to Privilege - great service - old world charm. Dark wood. Very traditional. - fantastic beach with gorgeous white sand - you can walk for miles on the beach - very lush with a jungle atmosphere and lots of palm trees - lots of places to sit and relax - has good support for mobility challenged - decent entertainment at night: lobby, theatre shows, and around the resort (beach party, foam party) - amazing shops and services -it is just a beautiful well kept property. -there are lots of ”hidden” surprises -Coffee Shop -Aroma- was cute -they do have a gym -they do have a wedding coordinator. Questionable things - not alot for kids to do. Small playground that looked like a prison. - The Coati are relentless - we had sargassum a few days while we were there. - lots of walking. - there is no quiet pool for those who like peace and quiet during the day. Clientele when I was there -older clients. 40ish and above but a fair amount of over 70yrs -not alot of kids. -mostly couples -Italian, German, French, Spanish. Mostly European. Some Canadian and American. -no issues. Everyone kept to their own space and were respectful. -I find that
