The New Inn

Our visit was for our anniversary meal. We had passed it in the car and decided it looked a nice place, checked the menu online and booked in. We choose the steak. A 10oz Rib Eye. I asked for medium rare and was advised that the chef recommended it medium. I decided to listen to the chef. Very glad i did, it was delightful. Cooked in a bernaise butter and topped with wild mushrooms, spinach and a tomato compote it was simply delicious. I’ve not had such a good steak in years. We followed this with a chocolate delice topped with roasted chocolate and cherry and chocolate caramel. We added a scoop of very fine vanilla ice cream.

This is a very nice hotel in a great spot in the middle of Dorset. The rooms are very cosy and comfortable. The staff who run the hotel are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. The best part about this place though is the food, it’s fantastic. There is a wide range of choice at breakfast, the full English is fantastic. Dinner is brilliant, there is a good selection of dishes to choose from, make sure you book though, it can get busy. The lamb and sea bass is particularly good. Overall, this is great place to stay, the staff, accommodation and food are first class. The Morris family

We stayed for one night as we had a wedding close by, we had 3 rooms total. The place is super clean and very looked after most probably they had a refurbishment not to long ago. Food is excellent and cooked very well, you can tell that they have an actual chef in the kitchen as everything was cooked to perfection. Very friendly staff and very accommodating I cannot mention one negative thing. Keep it up we will see you again for sure

We had the most delightful New Year's Eve dinner at the New Inn. Every course of the special sharing menu for the evening was simply delicious. We were a party of six friends staying nearby over the last and first few days of 2021/22 and we could not have been more delighted - what a wonderful last meal of the year!! Our applause and thanks to chef...the meal was absolutely mouth watering and wonderfully crafted - simply supreme! After this experience we were delighted that we had booked to return the very next day for Brunch and we weren't disappointed. Once again we were presented with such an interesting menu that choosing was so difficult. Needless to say the standard was maintained - what a way to start the new year! A late review as we stayed here in October for our anniversary. We absolutely loved our room which was on two floors, everything was perfect and luxurious. We also had an evening meal and breakfast - both were very enjoyable and top quality. Great attentive staff, perfect location - what more could you want. We'll definitely return!

This is a great place to stay. Friendly and efficient service, Michelin quality dinner and an absolutely delicious breakfast (do try the home made croissants!), lovely large rooms and bathrooms, in a beautiful location

Another fantastic stay in the Winterbourne suite. A beautiful 2 story room with lounge downstairs (plus a sofa bed) and an upstairs with a 4 poster bed and a roll top bath! Beautifully presented and clean. Truly wonderful and attentive staff and the breakfast was outstanding! A real treat for myself and children. I cannot recommended this place enough! A must visit when in Dorset.

We arrived for our overnight stay to be greeted by friendly, welcoming staff. After having a couple of good local beers and ciders in the bar we were shown to our room which was full of character with a lovely modern shower room. Our evening meal was delicious, again with great service from the staff, and it was good to see the suppliers listed up on the wall to show where the food had come from. Very enjoyable stay in a lovely part of the country. Highly recommend!

Wow, what a fabulous hotel - attended a family wedding o 05/08/23 with my 24 yr old daughter I stayed in winterbourne and my daughter in Allen - perfect rooms , spotless , really lovely comfortable and nice selection of beverages in my mini bar But even more impressive is how we were treated by hosts the wonderful Anette and Julian , lovely Hayley and the rest of the brilliant staff from restaurant and bar. As for the food and drink in the restaurant - quite simply - fabulous , seafood to die for - steak as tender as could be and my chateau neuf du pape and Chablis - just the very best The locals that I met in the bar with their perfectly behaved dogs were an absolute delight and so very lovely The New Inn in Cerne Abbas , a wonderful hamlet in this gorgeous County of southern England is a true treasure and I feel blessed to have been welcomed so wonderfully by all - I will return , that is a certainty - thank you all for a wonderful time - there were tears in my daughters eyes and a lump in my throat as we left for trip home : Just about says it all !!
