Wir waren als 5köpfige Familie in einem Apartment mit 2 Schlafzimmern, Und haben es sehr genossen. Der Luxus eines Hotels mit der Privatssphäre einer Ferienwohnung. Jeden Tag wird einem ein reichlicher Korb mit Frühstück nachgefüllt, morgens gibt es frisches Brot vor die Tür geliefert. Eine Kaffeemaschine mit verschiedensten Kapseln unterschiedlicher Heißgetränke fürs Frühstück ist auch vorhanden. Super organisiert. Das gesamte Apartment ist bestens ausgestattet, perfekt sauber, hat tolle Bäder und bequeme Betten. In der kleinen Küchenzeile kann man sich auch mal ein Abendessen zubereiten. Jeden Nachmittag kommt der Zimmerservice. Einzig negative Punkte: Es gibt keinen Parkplatz. Das Parken im öffentlichen Raum vor dem Apartment ist ziemlich teuer. Und: statt einer Plastikkarte zum Öffnen der Außentür und der Apartmenttür soll man sich eine App aufs Handy laden, und dann mithilfe eines Codes die Türen öffnen. Dies hat zuerst funktioniert, nach zwei Tagen dann nicht mehr (wahrscheinlich wegen WLAN-Problemen), weswegen nachts jemand von der Rezeption aus einem anderen Gebäude kommen musste, um uns Plastikkarten zu bringen. Etwas umständlich. Insgesamt können wir das Hotel uneingeschränkt empfehlen, und würden bei einem weiteren Besuch in Island wieder hier buchen.

Kex… Ugh such a frustrating review to write. I really wanted to like the Kex hostel it has its good points, but overall was the worst hostel stay I have had in Iceland. I’ll give you my very detailed opinion. The Bad… -Lacking in the toilet paper department!!! We were on floor 4 there were several private bathrooms with showers and also separate locker room style bathrooms. At 7:30 AM I ran to the bathroom after finishing my business realized there was no TP! Ugh. Anyway afterwards I looked through the different open stalls with toilets. Only 3 toilets on the whole 4th floor had TP! To me having adequate TP is an essential thing. The bathrooms weren’t restocked until 10AM ish. And we aren’t even in peak tourist season. We mentioned the issue to the staff and they said “just call next time you need something” kinda hard to “just call” when you have already done your business in the bathroom and you need something to wipe with! They need to have staff check the bathrooms more frequently. -The kitchen is sad in the “equipment” department. One of the reasons we stay at hostels is to cook our own food. Maybe they are trying to push buying food from their restaurant. I get that they get a lot of traffic. But the cooking pan selection is -Terrible- nasty old pans that the thrift shop would discard. Janky handles, and interior coating mega gouged out. Don’t come here expecting to cook at least on level 4. -No way to make coffee!!! Again they probably want you to pay for their breakfast. But there is no option to make coffee. No coffee pot, machine, or way to make a filter pour over etc. Don’t bring coffee grounds expecting to make your morning brew. There was an electric kettle, but again no way to make coffee unless you brought instant. -The showers need a good bleach and scrub. The walls had black mold growing on them. Considering the fact that Kex was our most expensive hostel in Iceland (we paid 20,906 for a private double, with linens, and shared bathrooms…or $153 US) compare Kex to the Svjarborg in Stykkisholmer $90 US or Halfdan HI Hostel $63 US ( in both we had a private double & shared bath) but both were awesome and had a fully equipped kitchen with decent quality pots, options to make coffee, and plenty of toilet paper. I understand that being in the city we can expect to pay more. BUT I expect that price to include: -enough toilet paper -a means to make coffee -decent cookware. The good… -The location is great. Easy walking distance to the main shops/streets. And the ocean right across the highway. -Awesome “vibe” cool decor, lots of couches/lounge areas. -Entertaining/Social. In the evening there was group song trivia in the main area, and in another a live band. -Our room a private double with shared bathroom was large, and we slept well. (Note: I have never stayed in a “quiet” hostel so I always travel with a sleep soundtrack on my phone and a melatonin) -The staff was all polite In conclusion, I have traveled on 4 contine

This one is somewhat tough to review. Service was 1-star. We received no instructions to enter and had to spend a fair amount of time on the phone (at costly international rates) to receive instructions. The instructions we received were not detailed enough. They did not mention entering through the restaurant to get to the first-floor rooms. Rooms on the second floor do not have to do this. The room itself was okay to decent. The kitchenette was nice, but the dishes were in the dishwasher when we arrived. The room lacked commonplace security features like an interior deadbolt, security chain, or a peephole. Combined with the strange way to enter the ”hotel” this made us feel uneasy. The fact that this hotel is not staffed and entry is through code would have been fine if detailed instructions were provided. Plenty of AirBnBs do this well. For the price, this would be much better value if they had better customer service and detailed instructions along with some additional security features. As it is I wouldn't recommend.

Das Gästehaus selbst war schön genug. Bitte beachten Sie, dass Sie, wenn Sie in einem der Haushalte Zimmer verbleiben, nur ein Bad pro 5 Zimmer (wenn Sie nicht bereit sind, zurück zum Haupthaus zu gehen und eins der dortigen Badezimmer zu benutzen). Das war während meines Aufenthalts kein Problem, aber ich wachte super früh auf, um es zu vermeiden, ein Problem zu werden. Das eigentliche Problem für mich war das Fehlen von Kommunikation. Ich musste endlich noch 50 Dollar für Ferngespräche ausgeben, weil dieses Unternehmen nicht überprüft, ihre E-Mail oder Facebook-Nachrichten. Darüber hinaus musste ich zweimal anrufen, weil ich zum ersten Mal falsche Informationen erhalten hatte. Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Buchung dieses Eigentums ein Risiko ist, wenn Sie über einen Dritten buchen (Expedia etc.), weil Sie möglicherweise nicht die E-Mail mit Anweisungen zu erhalten, wie Sie sich einloggen (darum musste ich wiederholt anrufen, nachdem sie nicht auf meine E-Mails antworten konnten).

Meine Bewertung betrifft insbesondere die Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption, im Restaurant und im Zimmerservice. Besonders geschätzt habe ich ihren außerordentlichen Fleiß und die Schnelligkeit in ihrer Arbeit, die Freundlichkeit in allen Bereichen und die Hilfsbereitschaft, insbesondere dann, wenn es einem an eigenen Fremdsprachenkenntnissen etwas mangelt. Ich werde das Hotel Cabin auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

Dieses Hostel hat nur eine praktische und funktionale Lage. Der einzige Grund, hier zu bleiben ist für seine bequeme pickup und brechen Sie eine Haltestelle für Touren und den Flughafen. Das Zimmer war ein 4-Bett-Dorm und war stark. Gelegen gegenüber der Küche und oberhalb des Haupteingangs bedeutete es auch ziemlich laut. Die Bündel sind sehr, sehr grundlegende. Es gibt keine Ladepunkte an jedem Bett in diesem besonderen Schlafzimmer (3) und die Schranke ist eine dekorative Schießen. Die Reinigung hinterließ viel zu wünschen. Regelmäßig musste man die Rezeption für Handsap in der Toilette, Papierhandtücher und Toilettenpapier beantragen. Das Wi-Fi ist nicht vorhanden und das Rezeptionpersonal ist völlig ambivalent; sie sind angenehm, aber absolut kein Wunsch, zu helfen. Es ist eine plausible Verweigerung zu bedenken. Sie bleiben hier nur für die Lage, die Ihnen den Zugang zu allem ermöglicht, was Island bietet.

This hotel has a lot going for it, but it's held back by the fit and finish of many of the hotel's spaces. Overall, the hotel just feels dated. The red carpet in all of the halls is faded and stained, the wood floor in the room had a lot of damage, and the spa is way past its prime. On a positive note, the furniture in the room has been updated recently and the pieces were nice plus I found the bed to be very comfortable. Also, breakfast was really good! The service at the hotel was also great. But that spa, ugh. It's a perk of being a gold/diamond member, but the spa is just not in good condition. Most urgently, something needs to be done about the steam room, it smelled awful while we were there and even made other parts of the spa smell. But overall, the spa was just not in good shape with damage everywhere. Also, the location of this hotel isn't great if you're looking to explore Reykjavik but, if like us, you want somewhere with free parking for you to explore the rest of Iceland, then this is a great location for you.

When we return to Iceland, we will most likely look first at staying here. It was very clean and comfortable, the people at the front desk were super helpful, the lobby was beautiful, and we enjoyed the free garage parking very much. We stayed here our last night before flying back home, and we had to leave at 6am so we were unable to enjoy the complimentary breakfast, but they did have coffee and pastries waiting for us in the lobby before we departed. The location was just a short 5 minute drive to the center of town, and the person at the check-in desk gave us very good directions for parking and even made a great dinner reservation for us at the Seafood Grill. We had a wonderful time.

Dies ist eine gute Option, wenn Sie nicht im Zentrum von Reykjavík bleiben und nur wenige Minuten ausfahren wollen, aber in einer sehr verschlossenen Lage durch ein Geschäft Wohngebiet und auf einer kleinen Halbinsel allein. Es ist so ruhig. Es gibt nette Grundzimmer oder Oberzimmer. Ich habe ein Standard-Dreibettzimmer gebucht und als wir ankamen, fanden wir es unter der Dachoftwarmtube und Sauna und befürchteten Lärm, so dass wir die Nummer für Hilfe angerufen und eine Zimmerwechsel beantragt. Wir mussten jedoch so glücklich, dass wir taten, wie das Oberzimmer hatte einen Meerblick und war so viel größere. Es wurde innerhalb von Minuten organisiert und extra Betten gekauft für das Sofabett und wir bezahlten die zusätzlichen Kosten über das Telefon. Großer Service danke. Ich würde das Oberzimmer definitiv empfehlen, aber wir haben überhaupt keine Lärm fr der Heißröhre gehört, so dass ich denke, die Menschen sind sehr respektvoll. Es ist ein wirklich ruhiger Ort ohne jegliche Service wie Rezeption Bar Frühstück etc. aber würde glücklich wieder bleiben. Ich habe einen großartigen Sonnenuntergang und ich vermute, wenn Aurora Ball gespielt es hier wäre erstaunlich. Es gibt keine Kontrolle, die Zimmer sind offen, so ist es sehr einfach.

The hotel staffs were very welcoming and hospitality. We feel really good when we arrived at the hotel and even during departure. Breakfast spread was small but great. We had a warm and nice breakkie. The room is very cosy. The bed was very soft and springy! The blanket was just nice, very warm and comfortable. How we wish we could bring home. Haha. The price was also worthwhile. ✌🏻
