We had some initial issues with this hotel but ended up quite liking it, mainly for the area. Our first room had a broken toilet seat, no towels and a torn sofa cover. Full marks for the way reception staff dealt with our concerns though. They changed our room and it was fine. This is a very basic hotel - no extras, one towel each (changed daily). But it’s not too expensive, beds are comfy and it’s in a good local neighbourhood. Breakfast is very acceptable. Try the little Murca restaurant across the street. Rua San Catarina (one of the best shopping areas in Porto) is almost around the corner. There is a laundromat (Marlin Wash) 350m away and many restaurants, bars and cafes nearby. And no homeless people hanging around as some old reviews say.

Lage: Das Hotel liegt in Baixa, direkt an der Igreja de Santo Ildefonso. Zum Bahnhof Sao Bento sind es ca. 350 m, zur Sé do Porto sind es ca. 500 m und zur Ponte Luis I. ca. 750 m. Ausstattung: Das Hotel verfügt über insgesamt 113 Zimmer verteilt auf mehreren Etagen. Im Erdgeschoss befindet sich neben der Rezeption auch die Hotelbar, der Frühstücksbereich befindet sich im Untergeschoss. Bewertung: Wir kamen am späten Vormittag im Hotel an. Da unser Zimmer bereits fertig war, konnten wir direkt einchecken. Alles erfolgte schnell und problemlos. Das Zimmer war groß und verfügte über ein großes Bett, einen Schreibtisch mit Stuhl, einen Schrank und einen Flachbildfernseher. Das angrenzende Bad verfügte neben Waschbecken, Toilette, Dusche auch über einen großen Spiegel. Das Frühstück wurde in Buffetform angeboten. Die Auswahl war groß und alles war sehr frisch. Neben verschiedenen Brot- und Brötchensorten konnte man zwischen mehreren Aufschnitt- und Käsesorten sowie diversen Marmeladen wählen. Außerdem gab es Obst, gekochte Eier und Rührei, gebratenen Speck, Gemüse, Müsli und Kuchen. An Getränken gab es neben Milch, Orangensaft und Wasser auch Kaffee- und Teespezialitäten. Fazit: Wir würden jederzeit wieder dieses Hotel buchen. Der Service und die Lage waren top und wer nicht unbedingt direkt am Douro wohnen möchte, ist hier genau richtig!

Hostel mit einer Lage von 10. Alles in sehr guter Zustand, sehr neu. Komfortable und funktionale Zimmer: Das Bett hat ein Garten für Ihre Privatsphäre und schützt Sie vor Licht, Schüssel, USB und Licht, das Sie anschalten können, wenn Sie es brauchen. Sehr gemütliche Gemeindebereiche. Die Menschen sind sehr bedienend, aufmerksam und angenehm! Dinge zu verbessern: Einige Grunddienstleistungen sind bezahlt als Dusche- oder Taschentuch. Sie würden gerne Süßigkeiten für den Kofferkasten bereitstellen.

Sehr schönes und noch recht neues Hotel in Laufnähe zu den Portweinkellereien und der Promenade. Auch die Ribeira auf der anderen Flussseite ist schnell zu Fuß erreichbar. Gutes Frühstücksbüffet, hier findet man immer was. Sehr schöner Wellnessbereich. Nutzung nur mit Badekleidung. Sehr netter Service am Empfang und im Restaurant. Tolle Aussicht aus der Bar oben auf die Brücke und die Stadt. Alles in allem top Hotel und auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen.

Es ist über unsere Erwartungen hinaus. Alle Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und sorgfältig. Frühstück, für unseren Geschmack, ist großartig. Es ist sehr reich. Freier Parkplatz. Besorgt nicht, dass Sie nicht auf dem Weg sind.

I may as well start my review with the only negative I could find. This was the smoking area directly outside the hotel entrance. So as soon as you open the door to go in cigarette smoke also went in. And now the good parts without a doubt, the hotels, biggest attribute are the staff. Our week started with a very warm welcome reception from a young man who was very polite and very helpful. Unfortunately, I have forgotten his name. But I guess that doesn’t really matter as it is a recurring theme during our entire stay . One young man who needs a special mention who works behind the bar, told me he was only 20 years of age, which I didn’t believe as he is one of the most honest, trustworthy and sincerest of persons I have the fortune to meet. It just goes to show that not all young people have attitude . Now I have to say that everybody who works behind the bar was fantastic and polite. so on behalf of my wife and I would like to thank you all. But Andre Martins you are a superstar from my heart you deserve a pat on the back and a promotion. One day my friend I’m sure you will be manager. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. The management should be very proud. The room was fantastic overlooking the river was clean and tidy with plenty of room. On occasions we ate at the hotel and every time wife was running out of wine someone came to pour some from her bottle. Her exact words were she felt like a princess it was nice that staff mad us both feel very special. The food was very nice and we both would recommend. In due course we shall return to the hotel as it was well situated. Thank you to all an absolutely fantastic start to our tour of Portugal.

Anständiges Hotel, sehr sauber nicht zu weit von den touristischen Orten entfernt. Alle Mitarbeiter sind sehr nett. Besonders Frau Sophia (Frühstücksbuffet) ist immer anwesend, wann immer wir etwas brauchen. Das Zimmer ist sauber, sie sauber jeden Tag, aber sie vergessen, den flüssigen Körper Seife-Behälter zu füllen. Sie mussten die Rezeption für eine Füllung beantragen und sie’re Aktion war schnell. Es ist nur, dass es ein bisschen heiß (AC nicht so gut) Insgesamt hatten wir einen schönen Aufenthalt.

I arrived at the hotel on 20 November 2022 for a 5 night stay. The stay was business related and with so many hotels to choose from, I decided to go with the Porto Palacio. What an excellent choice! The hotel is absolutely brilliant - I cannot find a fault. Check-in was very smooth and on arrival to the room - wow - very modern, crisp clean sheets on the bed and a spacious room. In terms of food, the Breakfast experience was the best part of the stay for me. I have stayed in many hotels around the world - both on a personal basis and a business basis - I can honestly say that the breakfast staff at the Porto Palacio are the best I've ever come across. On arrival, I was seated quickly. On Day 1, the staff members memorised what I had that cannot be chosen by the buffet - for example, a tea and two plates (as I like two plates) - on Days 2 and for the rest of the trip, I didn't even need to ask. I was called by my Title and Surname on arrival. The whole experience was brilliant. I would like to mention a lady called Rosa and another lady (they both greet staff members at the door) - their hospitality skills are great and they are always smiling - nothing is too much for them. I didn't eat at the restaurant in the evening but had room service as personally, I like to relax after a day at the office. The food was of good quality and was tasty and piping hot. I used the gym during my stay - the gym is open to members of the public, therefore is not your usual hotel gym. It's huge - there are loads of machines and I was never waiting for someone to finish using something. Staff members are friendly. All in all - a brilliant stay and is a genuine 5 star hotel! I will return to the Porto Palacio both on a business basis and also on a personal basis - Porto looks like a great city! It's a shame that I didn't have time to look around as I had a busy schedule but I will certainly be back! Thank you!!

Stayed four night as a base for Porto centre. Would give it 3.5 if possible to use halfs. Rooms were clean although showing signs of wear. Bed made up daily and fresh towels. Lack of shelf space in cupboard. Used for breakfast once but also tried the Mitica Inspiracao out of the back door twice for a more relaxed setting and no temptation to overfill v the buffet. Shower has good temperature and flow. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Nearby supermarket for anything you need. The bus from the airport took 50 mins during the morning midweek, and initially goes away from the hotel before heading back towards it. If I was doing it again I would take the Metro to Ramalde the nearest stop and then get an Uber to the hotel. The airport Metro is just behind the road at arrivals. Bus 304 seemed the quicker bus than the 300 or 301 into town. Had issues with bus reliability getting back from town after 8pm using information from route planner on Google maps .. chasing round various bus stops near the Town Hall Square to no avail. Ended up prefering to get the Metro back to Ramalde and then €3 for an Uber. Opted to use luggage lockers at Trindade Metro, €6 small for upto 12 hours rather than detour back to the hotel on the last day. Other sizes available but limited availability.
