Booked 3 club rooms for 3 separate nights during a multi-stop tour through Kenya. The Stanley and the 1902 lounge were one of the highlights of our trip and we would definitely stay here again and specifically book the club rooms. First of all, the staff were incredible - Emilie, Collins, Benson (1902 lounge butlers), Steve (concierge) and Susan (management) deserve special recognition. They all went above and beyond to ensure our stay was amazing. The 1902 lounge is well worth the upgrade. Soft drinks and snacks during the day, and an incredible happy hour daily from 6-8 with hard drinks and hors d'oeuvres. And if your flight is later the day of checkout, you can use the lounge throughout the day. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive. We tried all 3 restaurants during our stay - The Thorn Tree cafe provides an excellent breakfast and is good for lunch. Both the Thai Chi and Pool Deck restaurants were excellent dinner choices. If you are heading on Safari or to Mombasa you can leave the luggage you don't need with the concierge, taking only the things you need for that part of the trip. This makes traveling so much easier. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious and well-appointed. As we returned to the Stanley from one of the legs of our trip, we all remarked that it felt like we were ”coming home”. Would highly recommend.

Great service from front desk. They were accommodating to early check-in and slightly late check-out depending on vacancies. Didn't check out the facilities. Breakfast wise was alright. not much varieties though. Anyway we are there to stay in the room. Room is perfectly sized and cozy for us to rest in. Highly recommend to all if you are looking for a hotel in CBD area.

Das Hotel befindet sich in Westlands - der besten Lage für Nairobi. Die Sicherheit ist sehr hoch. Das Zimmer war super schön eingerichtet. Sehr modern und die Dusche (Regendusche) war toll. Das Wasser wird gefiltert. Der einzige Kritikpunkt ist die Sauberkeit, diese könnte besser sein. So haben wir im Schrank noch Wasserflaschen vom Vorgänger gefunden und der Teppich hatte Brandlöcher. Die Türklinken an der Badezimmertür waren locker. Leider wird auch die Covid-19 Regel nicht so durchgezogen. Es steht zwar überall Desinfektionsmittel zur Verfügung aber beim Frühstück achten die Mitarbeiter nicht darauf ob jemand eine Maske trägt oder nicht - es ist ihnen egal, was ich schade finde. Manche Gäste haben das Brot einfach mit den Händen genommen. Das Frühstück an sich war sehr gut. Grosse Auswahl und gute Qualität.

Ich habe in diesem Hotel 8 mal geblieben! ( Ich bin eigentlich nur hier, wenn ich nach Nairobi komme ) aber dieses Mal war es so schrecklich! Es war Bugs und msquito in meinem Zimmer! ( Mein Vater sagte sogar die Rezeption. Sie sagten, sie werden sprühen, es war immer noch Bugs und msquitos. Wir schliefen nicht in 2 Tagen, weil wir so viel zusammen waren. Und das Frühstück! Wir müssen 40 Minuten sitzen, weil wir bestellen müssen, was wir wollen ( Omeletten und kochte Eier ). 40 Minuten zum Frühstück ist lange .... bevor 680 Hotel einen Buffet hatte, und das war wirklich nett! Ich kann nicht glauben, wie viel dieses Hotel seit letztem Jahr zurückgefahren ist! Ich bin loyal und fühlte mich hier zu Hause so viele Jahre! Aber ich werde ein anderes Hotel für meinen Aufenthalt im April buchen! Auch die Puillos dieses Mal hatte altes Blut auf ihnen ......

We have been using the Oakwood for years. It was always a reasonably priced hotel in the heart of downtown Nairobi. We decided to check it out over the weekend and it hasn't changed much apart from a new entrance that is totally out of character with the rest of this small cozy hotel. Steel grills and off white tiles really do take away the old school charm that was always something we enjoyed. It feels like walking into an antiseptic dental surgery and we immediately missed the old wood lined walls that exuded charm and warmth. The rest of The Oakwood is much the same. The marvelous ramshackle rooms and furniture remains unchanged. Unfortunately it seems the owner decided to increase the cost of a cold refreshing beer to an extortionate KSH 400! This was the subject of much discussion with the disenchanted staff reporting that customers were jumping ship for more regular prices in less iron clad establishments. Sadly we decided to follow the herd and moved on! Shame to see such a venerable old establishment fall into the same trap as so many other old charmers.....!
