Imagine arriving at 2am at a hotel where you have a reservation already paid (by points) and to be told that your reservation was cancelled due to no show at midnight. Then being told that the only way you can get a room is by getting another reservation. We agreed (hoping to solve the matter in the morning). A reservation was made at what was portrayed as “the lowest rate available” that was $40 more than what IHG’s app had. Then being given the run around in the morning. I have waited 48 hours to hear from the manager since I was assured that he would be in touch. After this hasn’t happened, I am writing this. Obviously the charge will be disputed with my credit card as well. There are plenty of hotels in Monterrey, including many fine IHG properties. Avoid this one!

I paid for a king and got 2 full size beds and it’s a sweet. Not happy with this but will request in refund for the price difference.

The bathrooms are the downfall. The shower is slippery (there is a grab bar but it is on the wrong place). Hard water has clogged the shower head and almost nothing comes out. The towels are small and as rough as sand paper. There is no hair dryer, no conditioner, no shower cap.
TV programming is bad. There are no streaming services, so bring a tablet or laptop.
TU, WED and TH there is a very nice quick dinner option with fresh salad (take advantage of it, as greens are hard to find in nearby options). Breakfasts are very good.
Covid testing service at the hotel for returning to the US is great.

If you are planning a trip to Monterrey and prefer apartment type accommodation to a hotel room this is the place for you to stay. Shopping is in walking distance and the area is full of restaurants. On Sunday morning the surrounding area is closed for cars between 7am and 1pm so that people can walk with their families or jog. Live music and stalls make it really enjoyable.
