Las Terrazas de Dana Boutique Lodge & Spa

I usually wait until after a trip to write reviews. However I wanted to write this review while sitting out in the room’s balcony. (A beautiful view with a rainbow of birds and flowers and with the sound of a river in the background) This hotel has provided an experience that is not easily forgotten. The facilities, restaurant and rooms are top notch. They can arrange a variety of tours and activities for you. Everything is efficient and punctual. Their guides are amazing. However more so than spending a few days in what basically is an introduction to paradise. It’s the smiles that makes this a unique destination. The personnel from the minute you arrive to every interaction that you encounter with them is sensational. They are polite, courteous and just overall amazing human beings. I cannot wait to come back to this green piece of heaven. 100% recommended.

We arrived at this wonderful hotel on 19th April 2024. Because of my own stupidity of wearing unsuitable shoes I slipped on a bit of grass on the 20th April and broke my ankle. The staff could not have been more helpful. It was a rainy Saturday night and David Lara drove us to a local health clinic where I was examined by a young doctor who told me the ankle was not broken and just sprained. It was not until we got to The Galapagos a week later and had the ankle x-rayed that the break was confirmed. So for the week we were in the hotel owner David, manager Marco, and all the team at Las Terrazas thought I had a nasty sprain but I still could only hobble and they were magnificent in how caring and kind they were. I am an avid bird photographer and had waited years for this holiday so I was obviously gutted about what happened, but even though I couldn’t go on any hikes they arranged trips for us that involved hardly any walking but seeing lots of hummingbird/toucan and other wonderful birds from viewing points. I was also trying to raise the ankle and rest as much as possible, so the balcony of our King Suite Room was a perfect retreat and we saw and photographed so many beautiful birds from there, in the sun and the rain! I have thousands of fantastic photos from my week in Ecuador so it was difficult to choose just a few to attach or to remember which were taken where but the toucan in the tree, the Motmot and blue-necked Tanager were all taken from our balcony. The staff were very happy to bring food to our room to save me hobbling downstairs, provided ice for the ankle constantly and pillows to raise it at night. Everyone we met at Terrazas, Marco, Angel our tour guide Julia and driver Alfredo, the wonderful ladies who bought us food and looked after us, have the same efficient, kind, friendly and helpful attitude. After meeting owner David, his wife and baby girl we could see how the happy feel of this beautiful hotel comes from the top down. I cannot fault this hotel in any way. The food, service, rooms, surroundings, but most of all the people are top notch. I read all the reviews before I booked and part of me didn’t believe that anywhere could have such glowing reviews – now I have been I can verify that it is possible and truly warranted. If you are looking for a luxury but also home from home holiday in the wonderful Ecuadorian Cloud Forest – look no further – book Las Terrazas!

Everyone and everything about our stay was marvelous - The people were friendly, wonderful and fun. The food was great and we had a gorgeous room room with a stunning view. From pick up in Quito to drop off three days later we had so many amazing activities with knowledgeable guides.

Las Terrazas de Dana was simply amazing. The facilities were top-class, but most importantly the staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful. The service I received here was some of the best I ever have received. I will definitely stay here if I'm ever in Mindo again. 10/10!!!

I truly cannot think of enough superlatives to do this amazing resort justice! We have traveled to over 45 countries and this resort is top on our list . The staff couldn’t be more caring and helpful , the food fresh and delicious and the activities SO much fun. We particularly loved the butterfly facility, hike in the cloud forest to the waterfall , chocolate and coffee presentation/shop and sitting on the balcony of our lovely suite with a gin and tonic. I will truly keep there memories in my heart for a very long time !

This is one of the most relaxing and friendly hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The setting is very peaceful & remote. The staff is amazing. I loved every minute. The service is top notch and I highly suggest getting a massage. The location is within easy walking distance to the teleferico and access up to the waterfall hikes.

Wonderful ambience and service! Marco was awesome! My daughters and I had a such a lovely time! The room was so comfortable and the view was magnificent. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious! Thanks!

This is a 5 star beautiful hotel in Mindo Ecuador. We arrived from Quito along a back road which took almost 6 hours. The hotel staff greeted us and fed us very well. The rooms were extremely clean and had wonderful views! Loved it and will be back.
