Only booked the one night here as a stop gap because I couldn’t get in my chosen hotel for the length of my holiday but I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t a good start on arrival just before midnight when I checked my paperwork to discover to my horror that I’d actually booked the wrong date and not the date I was arriving ! (What a plonker), The guy on reception was very good and although I had to pay again the price was so reasonable that I was just grateful to have a bed after a long journey. My room was spacious if a little dated, a large comfortable double bed, tv, fridge, safe deposit box, a good shower, and one of the largest wrap-around balconies I’ve ever seen which overlooked a a good sized pool with around 30 sunbeds. The included breakfast was basic but reasonably good, being typically Turkish, fried and hard boiled eggs, olives, tomato, cucumber, cheese, pancakes, jam, and other bits n bobs. The bread was disappointing as it was from a packeted slice loaf, a real shame as the unsliced Turkish bread is so good and also cheap. The coffee was good. You’ve no worries about cleanliness- the whole place is impressively clean. Although I was booked into a four star all inclusive the next day I must admit I could have settled here for the week easily. (& saved a few quid) . If you bear in mind it’s a budget hotel and you’re not expecting the Ritz then you’ll have no problem at all with the Alkan. I guarantee I’ll be back, hopefully later this year.
