Greeted by a very hospitable, friendly and caring team! Breath taking view of the mountains, delicious food! This lodge is really a must for nature lovers. About 15-20mins walk to Nam Dong Park. Please do read up more about the lodge before booking! I had a wonderful experience here!

The grounds are beautiful and well kept. It was a shame it was too cold to swim there is a nice pool. But they do have a steam bath. The food is good, the service is fine. The mountain road leading to the resort is not good and very bumpy, our taxi driver wanted to abandon us because he refused to go further. Luckily the staff sent their driver to pick us for a fee. There is not much to do around once u are up there. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind, but with our 3 year old, 2 days was enough for us.

Beautiful eco-lodge up in the mountains. Perfect for a few days rest away from the city or to get over jet lag, but also possible to hike in the mountains.
The owner was an excellent host, helpful and a font of knowledge on Laos. The menu is local and includes vegan options. The swimming pool and wider area is stunning all day.
Anyone visiting Luang Prabang for the first time should spend a night or two here, as well as a night in the old town centre.

Das Hillside liegt inmitten der Natur in den Bergen. Wir haben uns für 5 Tage gleich zu Beginn unserer Reise dort eingebucht, es war die richtige Entscheidung zum ankommen und akklimatisieren. - Küche von 8 - 8 Uhr geöffnet, - Wasser und Tee standen frei zur Verfügung, - der schön gelegene Swimmingpool ist super erfrischend - Bungalow wunderschön gelegen, schlicht eingerichtet - es ist gut, dass man sowohl zum Frühstück als auch bei Lunch und Dinner von der Karte bestellt (kein Buffet = kein Überfluss und keine Reste) Danke Khan für deine gute Betreuung und Holger, dir gute Besserung! We were a family of seven and found this hotel perfect for our visit to Luang Prabang. On a map it looks close to the city but as it’s up a mountain it’s actually a 12km journey (35 mins) much of it on unpaved roads, but this is an authentic Lao experience. We hired local mini vans for our visits out at $35 for a round trip, organinised by the hotel. The staff are friendly and the restaurant open 8 am to 8 pm with a good mix of Lao and western food and surprisingly good for such a small place. The rooms don’t have ac but the thick blanket on the beds attest to the fact that it is much cooler at this altitude and we were there in the hot season. The pool was well maintained and with great views of the mountains, and well used by the children. I am happy to recommend this establishment.

12 k outside Luang Prabang up a few dusty hill roads nesteled in a green slope lies Hillside Nature Resort. And what a gem this is. Cosy cabins and a very nice restaurant with great local food and more. Add to that a laidback and relaxed atmosphere and you have the perfect settings for some days in a quiet hill retreat.
Holger and his wife runs this place with the help of polite and friendly local staffers from the nearby village. Mr Khan is really great!
So we had a wonderful time here. Will be back! Thank you Holger and all of you.

Hillside was an amazing place of rest and retreat. They will pick you up from Luang Prabang town and it’s only about 40mins away but feels like a secluded retreat far from town. The staff looked after every detail, and made our stay very enjoyable. The setting is beautiful and flexible; you can choose to “do nothing” and sit by the pool, get a massage, enjoy the steam bath, or be active and enjoy the many hikes (guided or unguided) of differing levels in the beautiful Lao countryside. There is also a national park nearby, which seemed in a bit of disarray but was still a pleasant walk and only cost about one USD to enter. If there is one tiny negative, the bed and pillows are a bit firm for my preference but are standard for what you’ll find in Asia. Overall, I loved Hillside and would go back in a second. Don’t hesitate to make your booking today!
