Iona Inn

It was handy for out walking tours of Londonderry but very noisy and we had disrupted nights. The walls are thin and there was a very noisy group in the hotel waking us up after midnight.

We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. The ladies that helped us were wonderful and our breakfast was delicious. We would recommend staying here to anyone we knew that was visiting Derry.

Booked on the phone with Tanya. Couldn’t be more helpful. Friendly service, Decent Breakfast, Great Local Bar next door, All Staff friendly. Would definitely go back. Great value for money. Ideal location to visit all the sites.

Stayed for my teenagers birthday in the family room,was very spacious, had great views, clean room. The ladies went out of their way to buy birthday banners and were so friendly and accommodating. Great location too for sight seeing. Definitely be back.

I would like to write on behalf of the 11 of us who stayed at the Iona Inn on Saturday. Tanya who we booked with was great and lovely anytime we spoke. Meme who was working both on the desk and the wee bar was a superstar, she went above and beyond to look after us. We had a lovely stay and would recommend!

Great stay here and Meme was first class in everything she done. She runs the whole place on her own it seems. The bar next door is very nice too and the manager there took it upon himself to arrange somebody to give us a lift where we wanted to go. Excellent.

We stopped here for two nights whilst in Derry, the location is perfect, close enough to the action, but just far enough away from all the noise, the rooms were great, the staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast tasty and filling, we had a bit of a problem while we were there, they were so kind and couldn't do enough to help us, we will definitely be returning back. We popped in for a night on a road trip. The room did well enough and the staff was so friendly. We very much enjoyed our stay and the location was very convenient. However, the website advertised parking availability, and that was not the case. Be aware travelers with rental cars that you’ll have to pay at the car park a ways down the road or take your chances with street parking.

We booked here for one night at the last minute following a change of plans. The street on which the inn is located is not particularly promising. Fairly shabby and a busy road. Welcome was perfectly pleasant. Parking is available at a public car park nearby and is 50p per hour during working hours. It was quiet but on returning to the car the following morning, we discovered a huge pile of human excrement that a reveller from the previous evening had left behind the car. I won't share a photo! The inn was also fairly shabby and could really do with some TLC. Our room was large and at the front of the property so we faced the full blast from the road. Double glazing kept a lot of the noise out, but it was fairly noisy so choose a room at the back if this is a problem for you. Beds were comfortable and clean and bathroom was functional but again quite basic. Breakfast was fine. I has the full Irish breakfast and it was quickly served. Location is pretty good. You are very close to the river and a five minute walk across the bridge takes you to the centre of the City. We paid £89 for the night and that included breakfast. We were also advised by locals that the pub next door was not very welcoming so gave it a miss. Overall I wouldn't personally stay there again as it was a little too shabby for me to enjoy it but if you just wanted a well located place with parking and a decent bed, it would be OK. We also have to accept the challenges that lockdown has placed on small businesses so I can understand that it is not easy or cheap to keep places in tip top condition
