Wirklich schrecklich veraltetes Hotel.

I booked a weeks stay at the Irinna Hotel as the 3* hotel I wanted to book was full, so I booked this hotel as it was also showing as a 3* hotel on the booking site I used and very near to Ammes Beach. When I arrived my gut feeling was that it looked very worn out and in desperate need of renovating. The path leading up to the entrance was broken up and I would have struggled had I brought a suitcase instead of a rucksack. At check-in I was given my room key which was a Big Old style key on a big, heavy metal fob with the room number on it. As I made my way to my room I looked around at the decor which looked 1980's style. The only way I could describe the room door as it was like a prison cell door, which made me understand why the key was so big. The room was a decent size with 2 single beds which were very comfortable, but no blankets, just the sheet to cover you. I was shocked at the TV, which again looked like it had been there since the 1980's and needless to say didn't give a good enough of a picture to watch tv. The fridge was good for me as I only had Coca Colas or Beer in it. The bathroom was not good, with cracks in the Sink, Toilet and Bath. The shower hose did not reach the wall bracket so any shower had to be whilst holding the shower head in my hand and the shower curtain looked like a big piece of blue plastic that had been cut to size. I had booked on a Full-Board basis, but had arrived after 10pm so had missed dinner that night, so I asked the times of the breakfast and evening meals for the next day. The receptionist informed me of the times, but stated that if I wanted an evening meal, I would have to inform reception after breakfast, which I did the next day and had to give my room number. When I had my evening meal, I started to leave the dining area and was chased by a member of staff shouting to me asking me if I was going to pay for my meal, which was very embarrassing in front of all the other guests in the dining room, to which I said that I had paid. Of course he didn't understand me (How can someone ask if you are going to pay, but cannot understand when you say you have paid?) He understood when I said I was going to get my paperwork and go to reception and I made a point of speaking to him every day to check his English and his English was good. I got my paperwork and went to reception with it (Same receptionist as when I checked in the night before) and she made some feeble excuse of their printer not working, but it would have been sent to them on an email from the booking agent and if the printer is not working they could use their hands and a pen. I informed her how embarrassing it was to be shouted to and accused of not not paying in front of all the other guests and her reply was "Then why did you come to reception this morning and tell me that you wanted a meal tonight?" I told her "Because you told me to when I checked in last night" I could not get the Air-con working for 3 nights, each of which the mosqui

The hotel was really big with a lot of space inside and outside. Nice good size pool, volleyball court and a lot of outdoor space. Friendly staff at reception, bar and restaurant. We were surprised with a bottle of local wine for our wedding anniversary. Spacious rooms with great sea view overlooking the pool. Very close to the airport with planes flying across at a very low height which seems scary initially.Lovely beaches within walking distance. A great selection of lovely delicious meals in the evening. Breakfast was repetitive. Mainly breads, boiled eggs, orange squash, ham, Olives, Greek yoghurt, tea and coffee ( every morning). Despite talks with the management and the chef, no changes were introduced for the whole week stay! No kettles ! Mattress and pillows really hard! For those who may have pet allergies! Or are not fans of cats, Beware! as there are a number of cats running between the tables at meal times!! The staff sometimes try getting them away but they return immediately!!! Spall shower space, shower curtains really short and nowhere to hold the shower head! Very old tv with bad reception and few unclear channels.

Just returned from another fabulous stay at the Irinna Hotel, Kefalonia. This is a traditional, Greek hotel and while the structure itself is dated, it is well looked after and you will be welcomed with love. Situated in a picuresque village location, there is a bus stop right outside to take you to Argostoli and beyond, should you wish. Also available in the village are hire cars, quad bikes, scooters and bicycles to cover your chosen sightseeing preferences. The village has several good tavernas within walking distance and 3 beaches - Ammes, Avithos and Al Helis. Al Helis would be my preference - and is approx 15 mins walk from the hotel. You can actually walk to the Irinna Hotel from the airport if you wished, it is about 25 mins walk away. Taxi is a set-rate 20 euros and there is also a regular, direct bus from the airport. Because of the proximity to the airport, you will see planes passing low overhead as they make their descent. This is fascinating to watch - there are only a handful of planes and is in no way intrusive on your holiday. Back to the hotel itself: Set in the hillside, overlooking the small harbour and seafront, it has some beautiful grounds with a restaurant (for breakfast, included in the price, or dinner at a reasonable price. I can tell you the food is well cooked and delicious - I had the best vine leaves ever). There is a large pool that is cleaned every day and there are always sunbeds or chairs available, even on the busiest days. There is a chilled out vibe at the pool - no setting alarm clocks to put towels on sunbeds here, thank goodness! There is a poolside taverna offering a fantastic choice of food, whether it is a light snack you want or a full meal - all cooked beautifully. Here you can also get light refreshments of alcohol or soft drinks and the service is second to none. There is also a bar with a stunning outside veranda - you can sit and enjoy the view, drink in hand, watching the sun set over the sea. The rooms are fairly basic, traditional - but a good size and cleaned daily by the hard-working cleaners. Fresh towels provided daily and also an excellent air con system - at no extra charge. Balcony views of the pool and sea or of the mountains. The balconies are a good size and are private - you can sit here and enjoy wonderful views. Finally, I want to thank Soula and her team for a wonderful time - all staff here are caring, helpful and kind. I first wrote a review in Sept 2017 and everything is as good today as it was back. I want to make a special mention to Leo, Panos and Marina who worked tirelessly, and I mean tirelessly pretty much around the clock to ensure guests were looked after and were happy. To them, a personal thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The hotel is nothing spectacular to look at when you arrive, some might say it looks a bit like a prison. However looks can be deceiving. The hotel is very dated and could do with a modernisation throughout but the rooms have air con and it is a god send in the height of summer. You need when trying to get comfortable in some of the most uncomfortable beds in Greece. The mattresses are so hard. The breakfast was basic but plentiful (not that I chose to eat there much) the pool bar did some nice food and was reasonably priced. The pool area is kept clean, there were always sun beds too. The hotel is what it is, would I go back? Probably not. It is not horrendous but not brilliant either.

Lovely location, close to airport , food excellent, staff very helpful and late checkout available There are planes flying close overhead- they dont come over early or late /about 5 per day Yes the hotel wants updating - however, it is authentic and any issues are swiftly rectified - we didnt have any issues. A mosquito detereant is available to use in each room. Phone Garden or sea views The pool is warm, there is no diving or jumping as no lifeguards present. There is a children's pool - children under 12 need to be supervised. If you are looking for a relaxing, nice time and as the day goes buy, with poolside bar and food this is the place for you. There is aircon in the rooms, phones and roomservice is daily. There is also a TV and fridge - no kettle provided (we didn't need one) Greek law states you must pay a local room tax oer night 1.3 euros The bus service timetable is in reception- the times are when it leaves its starting point, not when it gets to you. If you look out towards the sea, if you see the bus come round the road near there - you habe 5 minutes to walk to the bus stop out of the driveway turn right and its on the left to go to Argostoĺion or airport. Argostoĺion: 2 euros each Airport 1 euro each Armmes beach 700 yards - 15 minute walk (as receptionist for directions/ take note of where you are walking as buses and cars do go there too and all roads look similar) At beach when having a shower wear non slip shoes! Bar, food very good

just returned from 2 weeks at Irinna hotel We had a very good experience Hotel is a bit dated but it did not ruin our stay at all. Rooms are basic but cleaned every day with bedding and towels replaced. Take a showerhead holder to stick on the wall and the shower is good with loads of hot water. Breakfast is good and we did not at any time have over cooked eggs. Swimming pool is large and kept clean and tidy with plenty of sun beds. We had a late flight and were able to keep our room until 6pm with no extra charge. Hotel staff were all polite and very helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel its not a 5 star hotel but you are not paying 5 star rates

Before booking, we read all of the reviews here - even the "Terrible" ones but suspected many are written by people who pay the ridiculously low fee but expect a 5 star hotel. If you need 5 star go elsewhere and leave the Irinna as beautifully quiet as it is for us bargain hunters. Here is an analogy: I buy Lidl baked beans for 22p a tin - friends laugh at me. A similar tin of Heinz can cost £1.40p. Would you expect the Lidl beans to be as good as the Heinz? Actually, I can't tell the difference. This hotel is the best value for money I have ever had accommodation wise in Europe - by far. It is very clean - cleaners visited our room every day and changed the towels on request. Yes the bed is a bit hard (but spacious) and the shower a bit cramped - there is only one pillow but you can ask for more. You need to take your own travel kettle. The air con is the most modern thing in the room. The breakfast is a bit basic compared to some but plentiful, perfectly edible and sufficient. The very large pool is superb and very clean (towels available at reception) - there are ocean views. The taverna and bar for lunch is everything you could want and the prices highly competitive. This was my seventh stay on Kefalonia - bed and breakfast cost us £1000 less for a week than a nearby place we stayed last year. That £1000 paid for seven lunches, seven restaurant meals at night (plenty of choice within walking distance) and a week's car hire. If you like plane spotting the handful of planes flying low over the pool every day add to the interest and feel like old friends by the end of the week. Everybody I spoke to couldn't understand the negative reviews and vowed to be back to the Irinna.
