Totally fantastic experience! Everyone of the staff was super helpful and stayed on top of everything we asked about. Room was great, modern and practical. Would definitely visit again!

My wife and I just came back from Japan and had a wonderful stay at the Kyoto Shijo Takakura Hotel Grandereverie. The staff provided great service and anticipated our every need. Our room was very spacious (especially for Japan standards) and had plenty of amenities, as well as an ultra comfortable bed. Location was amazing, surrounded by nice restaurants and +/- 5 minutes walking distance from a metro station and Nishiki market. A nice treat was a newly built lobby bar that is now shown on the website pictures.

Loved this little hotel. On a small quiet street just feet from the main drag. Rooms are large for Japan norms. Staff is soooo sweet and helpful. Breakfast is delivered to the room every morning. Delish and fresh. Beyond clean and comfy. The most sumptuous bed. Restaurants abound and laundromat literally across the small street. Just lovely.

Japan Reviews My adult son and I spent 8 nights and 7 full days at this wonderful hotel in Kyoto. The rooms are a great size and well appointed especially compared to Tokyo room sizes. It’s a small hotel with a huge heart because the staff are simply awesome at customer care and support, without exception. Spacious bedrooms rooms with excellent controllable air-conditioning. The separate toilet and walk-in bathrooms are extremely comfortable and spacious The location is outstanding for shopping, sightseeing and travel across the city and further travel. 10 mins from Kyoto station on the Karasuma line and as a fan of Uber, its central to anything you need to get to within 5-20 mins. Walking distance to Teramachi street and Nishiki food markets. The Samurai Experience and the Shijo-Dori downtown shopping district. Meals are delivered to the rooms as there is no dining facility, but this is not a downside if you are a budding travel/adventurer. Meals can also be brought in from any Family Mart or 7-Eleven, which becomes the norm in Japan. Additionally, there are 15+ restaurants within a two minute walk, many of which are on the same quiet street. I absolutely loved this small characterful street this hotel was located on. I wanted to make a special note of the support this hotel team provided before we arrived. As a motorsport fan my son was keen to explore Suzuka race circuit. The hotel contacted the circuit directly and found out there was an all day practice session for different classes of cars on Saturday. The hotel also helped us find a car hire place, Toyota right next to Kyoto station. Picking the car up the night before I drove to Suzuka circuit, which all resulted in an another amazing day. Post event the hotel team then contacted the circuit and was able to get a list of all the driver and their cars after the event. This hotel goes above and beyond and all you need to do is ask them!! One of the best Hotel customer experiences I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. It was incredibly well located, the staff were super friendly, helpful, and attentive, the room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, the shower/bath area was huge, and the western in-room breakfast was yummy. What more is there to say?!

The hotel is located in a Great location, great room with ample space. Staff super helpful at all times. Many restaurants around the hotel, staff gave excellent recommendations and took care of bookings. Excellent for solo travelers for sure.

Nice spacious room. Good sleep quality. Good location for shopping and nishiki market . Bathroom has big bathtub and big shower area . Location is behind the Main Street. We didn’t book breakfast as there many places around for breakfast. Also we drove and could easily find parking space around the hotel . The room still use the key and you can drop off your key at reception when Leaving hotel .

We have just had a very enjoyable four night stay at this excellent boutique hotel. The rooms are spacious and very stylishly appointed and comfortable. They are spotless and modern. The staff are extremely attentive and make you feel very welcome. It is located in a great area, with transport options close by and many really good small restaurants within metres from the hotel. We would happily stay here again.

This hotel is a gem, located in a quiet lane but close to bustling main streets for all your needs. The bed was super comfortable and the room well designed. The lounge downstairs was spacious and peaceful, a great spot to watch the world go by or wait for your taxi. The most outstanding part of this hotel however is the staff. From the welcome when you arrive, to answering queries, attending to requests and bidding you a fond farewell they were exceptional. When I asked to borrow a knife they expertly cut up and plated my fruit . Could I heat up the dinner set I'd purchased from Diamaru? No problem. They did so, presenting dinner plated on a tray with a basket of cutlery, delivered to my room. When I needed to see a doctor they arranged the appointment and briefed the taxi where to go. In short they were brilliant.

My wife and I spent five nights at this hotel in a comfortable and amply sized room. This is a modern boutique hotel with a great location and friendly service. In particular we appreciated the huge shower room with a large bathtub within it and the complementary 24 hr freshly ground coffee/espresso in the lobby. We highly recommend.

Excellent location, a short ride from Shijo underground station and very close to lots of shops and restaurants. The staff were some of the most helpful and friendliest we came across in Japan both at reception and breakfast. Breakfast is served in your room and there was plenty of it. The room itself was gorgeous, a great size with a big bath and the bed was very comfortable. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

100% recommended. Perfectly centrally located, but quiet. Technically perfect, comfortable bedding, impeccably clean and very friendly staff. Good price to value ratio. Stood with one of my daughters, who as well was enjoying it - even though being pretty spoiled:-) Will definitely choose this hotel again.

I booked the "family suite twin" (directly through the hotel website) because it accommodated our family of four and did not expect the hotel to be as cool of a retreat as it ended up being. Truly a 5 star stay in what feels every bit like a 5 star hotel, from the rooms to the service. We were stunned when we opened the door to our room and saw just how spacious and modern it looked. Two beds with the most comfy mattresses imaginable for the adults and two couches that folded out into beds for the kids. And the neatest part? A door in our room that opened to a winding staircase that led downstairs to the most magnificent bathroom suite I've ever experienced, featuring a soaking tub with a view of our private Zen garden. The service was above and beyond and we were treated with such kindness. Even the amenities were top notch - we asked to purchase their hand soap (not for sale lol) and my husband bought a set of their pajamas to commemorate our wonderful stay there. The location is ideal for exploring the best of Kyoto on foot or by subway. Recommend 10/10 for all travelers to Kyoto and especially to families. 

Charming hotel with warm staff. The location is walking distance from various neighborhood restaurants, markets and temples. My husband became ill during our trip and the staff went the extra mile to care for him. They also arranged a private guide to visit distant temples with car service. The guide was so wonderful we took her out to Sushi after our tour. Beds were comfy and room was spacious for Kyoto. We will definitely return to stay here again.
