"We some issues with the room we got. Toilet has a foul smell but the service recovery was impeccable. We left for dinner and they helped us to shift rooms. All our stuff were placed exactly how we left them. They even brought over stuff we placed in the fridge. Parking is available on site but there are cheaper parking within the area."

"Vessel is a budget type accommodation... You get just enough of what you need and if you want anything more or anything specific, you help yourself to their amenities on the 2nd floor reception. Location wise was perfect for us and the rooms are all insulated so you don't really hear the noise outside. They don't provide carpark but have a tie up where you pay a fixed rate to a very close by carpark operator (about 250m away only). We were 4 persons (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and even though the room came with two beds each sized between a single bed and a queen sized bed and a third roll out mattress, you still need to pay more for the bed linen, comforter and a pillow."

Staffs are friendly and always happy to help.
Free coffee and tea at the lobby. Freshments like noodles you can get for free every night. Ice cream is free to take after 10pm. In the morning u can get free yoyurt.

"Really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is very new and relatively spacious for Japan. The bed size is slightly bigger than normal for 2 people (1.6m wide) and comfy so we really appreciated that. Room comes with all the amenities including a kettle. They also have universal wall socket which is a nice touch for people with different plugs for electronics. Great location too - just minutes of walk from the tram station and the main shopping area. Strongly recommend!"

"This hotel is amazing! I stay with my family and the place is just spotless. Loved the large bathroom two sinks available!
Dont get me started with the outdoor onsen and that was fantastic after a long day of driving.
Breakfast is great and the place is within walking distance to the shopping centers, we end up having dinner at the Kumamoto Food stall.
Cosy place, nice beds, Netflix and YouTube available on the TV, coffee and tea and free amenities for guest to enjoy."

"Good if you like old school charm hotel, room and service. Castle view room was a disappointment - have to stand at the side of the window to actually see the castle :(
Location was great and parking was onsite. There’s a driveway at the front of the hotel and from there, the staff guided us to their onsite parking. It’s as advertised JPY1000 per day but on day of checkout, parking is until 11.30am. After that, cheaper to park elsewhere (JPY100 for 15mins vs JPY200 for 2hrs at Kumamoto Castle)."

GGastnutzerZunächst einmal ist die Lage wirklich gut und die Mitarbeiter sind alle sehr freundlich. Nach dem Auschecken hatte ich vor, zum Berg Aso zu fahren, und deshalb durfte ich mein Gepäck kostenlos aufbewahren. Im Zug zum Berg Aso stellte ich fest, dass ich meine Augentropfen im Kühlschrank meines Hotelzimmers vergessen hatte. Also kontaktierte ich das Hotel und bat darum, sie zusammen mit meiner Tasche aufzubewahren! Ich kam um 18 Uhr an und bekam mein Gepäck kostenlos und sicher zurück. Ich war so gerührt, als sie mir die Augentropfen aus dem Kühlschrank brachten! Dieses Hotel ist wirklich unvergesslich und freundlich! Wenn ich jemals wieder nach Kumamoto komme, werde ich definitiv hier buchen! Der Bahnhof Kumamoto liegt direkt vor der Tür, daher ist es sehr gut erreichbar und die Gepäckaufbewahrung ist perfekt! Vielen Dank.

VVictorliDie Lage ist absolut fantastisch. Es liegt ganz oben im Einkaufszentrum und die Straßenhändler sind gegenüber. In der Nähe gibt es auch einen Supermarkt. Das Zimmer ist sauber und die meisten Dinge sind in Ordnung. Natürlich ist es nicht groß, aber groß genug für ein Paar, um ein paar Nächte zu bleiben.

SShin-Woei FannYou can see this hotel when you walk out from the east gate of JR Kumamoto station. Although the nearby area is not popular with just few restaurant and store, but it has a local railway station.
However, I have to say this is the worst hotel I have ever lived in my travelling life. This one in the Kumamoto shame on the whole Toyoko Inn system.
I had got some strawberry and sweets in the fridge in the room, and they were all frozen to ice at that night. I did not change any switch in the fridge and it was set up to 2 of total 5.
Then I took the frozen strawberry to the front and told the stuff, but a lady just said sorry about that and that's all.
I can understand there are some difficulties for the staff to explain why bad thing happened to the customers, but at least they should show they would put effort to fix the problems.
This happened in the second night, but I have not get any explanation or compensation when I left even till now.
And the water pump also created lots of noises when nearby rooms using water, so I think is might be refrained from an old hotel.

LLohI recently had the pleasure of staying at this exceptional hotel, and I can't recommend it highly enough. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the cleanliness and overall ambiance. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a smooth check-in process.
The room was spotless, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed with modern amenities. The bed was extremely comfortable, guaranteeing a restful night's sleep. The bathroom was pristine, with high-quality toiletries provided.
The hotel's location was convenient, offering easy access to local attractions and transportation.
Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, and outstanding place to stay, this is it. I will definitely be returning on my next visit!

TTraveller CI stayed at this hotel twice. The second time (this booking) we had a room on the older (?) wing and it was almost twice the size of the first one. So for this review I will only share feedback on this “older” room.
This room was big and thus good for us as we had 2 large luggage and more space in the room allowed us to open and pack our luggages with ease.
The bathroom was large with the large traditional bathtub. Toilet had bidet and etc but lacked heating which made it very cold in the winter. Basin tap was still the old turn types which was not eco friendly as it’s more difficult to shut it off.
Location was just opposite the train station which was excellent. But the nearest convenience store is also only at the train station which is about a 5-7mins walk away.
Breakfast was curated to suit the Japanese palette more and ends at 9a.m which is really way too early!!
We left something behind in the hotel but they managed to send the item back to us at our new hotel (still in Japan) which was highly appreciated.
Despite a few minor shortcomings listed above, the pros still outweigh the cons and I’ll definitely be happy to stay here again.

Walking distance to Kumamoto castle, Kumamoto inari shrine, and Kumamoto square. Hotel staffs were really nice. The room and corridor functioned well but some refurbishment would be appreciated by many guests I think.

RRoman.KusI think it was the biggest disappointment so far. The hotel is fine if you stay for one night. But more — I doubt it. For example, it is mandatory to leave at 10:00 even if you stay for more than one night. You can pay 1500 yen, but it literally gives you nothing. You can’t use sauna and sento. You received no additional service or amenities. Even sleeping is hard — the staff changes sheets. Next, people actually live in this capsule hotel. It means they get up very early, loud, alarm clocks, etc. Finally, the locker room is super tiny. There is little space. No benches. Definitely will not stay again.
Good sides — the staff is polite, and you can store your luggage at the counter. Actually, you must, but people still carry their luggage upstairs.

GGastnutzerI honestly do not know where to start, I booked the hotel without really knowing much about Kumamoto Prefecture. After arriving in Kumamoto City and then realising Ueki Onsen is another 40 minute bus ride I was thinking oh dear where am I staying. After arriving at the hotel I was greeted by the manager of the hotel who showed me to my room and gave me a tour of the facilities. Once settled in I realised there isn't great public transport around and I primarily wanted to see Beppu and Yufuin during my stay, I enquired with the manager on where I might be able to rent a car, with little to no Japanese language under my belt he took it upon himself to reserve a vehicle for me and offered to drive me himself to collect it. He then also said he would take me back to return it a few days later. After my trips to Beppu and Yufui village (Not to be missed) and not to miss the outstanding and beautiful surroundings in Uekimachi and the Aso region. The manager and I set off to return my hire car, on the way back he took me to Kikuchi shrine to pray and also gifted me coffee and cake. They also accommodated me with use of the on site onsen (amazing) after hours as I'm heavily tattooed. I feel truly grateful to have found this hidden gem of rural Japan and if you are thinking of traveling this great country I emplore you to go off the beaten path. I experienced untold kindness during my stay and have memories of a life time. Thank you so much guys
