Karongwe Portfolio - Becks Safari Lodge

An excellent overall experience with very friendly staff and good game viewing. Started with a good transfer from HDS on a tarred road to the entrance of Karongwe, a good friendly welcome & briefing by the Managers Johan and Adelina. Very comfortable, large room with all amenities, followed by a great game drive and a fine dinner.

Based on Tripadvisor reviews, we had high expectations for Becks Safari Lodge - and our expectations were far surpassed! Everything was amazing. Let’s start with what everyone is there for: the animals. Guided by knowledgeable rangers and trackers, it seems like you can’t help but see the Big 5, and often right up close. We saw all of the Big 5 within our first day, and saw so many antelopes, warthogs, etc., that it got boring. The guides had a great sense of not only where to find the animals at a given time of day, but also anticipating their movements - we had an amazing encounter with a wallowing rhino because after a quick but distant sighting, our ranger anticipated where the rhino was heading and got us there in time to see him up close. the staff - from the managers to the rangers and trackers to the serving and back of house crew: everyone went above and beyond to give us the best possible experience. They were attentive, polite, accommodating, and just all-around wonderful. They also made things easy - transfers to/from the airport, booking spa appointments, it was all painless. Finally, the resort itself. Becks is poised overlooking a river, and beyond it over some open savanna. That positioning means you’re frequently treated to the sight of scurrying warthogs or frolicking antelope while you’re dining. And the meals - amazing. We weren’t sure what to expect going in, but the food was superb. The bread, croissants, biscuits, etc., all seemed house baked, and were delicious.The meals were also varied - lunch ranged from chicken quesadillas one day to ostrich skewers the next, while dinner highlights during our stay included a carpaccio of springbok loin, a delicious beef wellington, and a great pork chop. Lunch and dinner were both accompanied by amazing desserts. Becks is an intimate property - there are only about 10 rooms - so your room is guaranteed to be an easy stroll from the main building and the beautiful pool. We loved our room - it had a spacious veranda overlooking the river, a large and lovely bath, and a huge and comfortable bed. Clearly, we can’t wait to return!

Great lodge, with great food and awesome game viewings. Leopard sighting are the best! The most friendliest and helpful staff ever! The management is super and have a great eye for details Where 4 times already there and will return yearly. And NO , I am not the owner😜

Great place for safari and stay .The service is outstanding, the ranger and the tracker were amazing.Would visit again.The lodge is very good and luxurious .We were able to see a lot of wildlife and our guide was very knowledgeable about each of these animals.Unforgettable experience

Becks is a step above all others. The food is DELICIOUS!! The staff is all smiles and very warm and friendly. The property is stunning, and the rooms are very cozy! With only 10 rooms, it’s a very intimate experience!

This is definitely one of my best hospitable experiences that I have had so far. Place: Beautiful is an understatement. It overlooks the river and the forest, and their meal seating is just to die for. Food: Wow what food! They provide you with lots of options in each meal and the food prepared is top class with such beautiful presentation Safari experience: We had Yurie and Collin as our ranger and tracker. And it was just the right mix of young passion with experience. There was a time when they literally tracked the leopard down for us. What passion! They are also quite informative and entertaining. And oh They made sure we see the BIG 5. :) Hospitality: Juhan runs this place and what a nice person! The overall hospitality was just a class apart
