Casa do Cabeco

Casa do Cabeco is absolutely perfect! Everything is so well thought of and beautifully presented. Large room with a very comfortable bed and stunning view over the hills of the beautiful surroundings. The gardens of the B&B are the perfect place to rest and relax under the orange trees and in the area you can go for wonderful walks. Iker and Martha the owners are fantastic and will help with whatever you need and the breakfast with selection of special homemade jams, fresh bread and eggs to choice is to die for!

What I loved about this place, was everything. Marta and Iker both lived in Londen for a long time so they speak excellent English and Spanish and portugees. They are kind, low profile but deliver excellent service. The garden is very big and there are many platforms, fruittrees, sun and shade, so you can find your favourite place to sit, hide from others, or sit together, watch the view, sleep in a hammock, read, what ever you like. The breakfast was as wonderful as the dinner Iker cooked for us the night we did not want to go anywhere else. He worked as a chef in Londen so he's an excellent cook and Marta dressed up in her former profession to do the arrangements and served us with a bright cheeky smile. Half an hour later she changed roles and was the lady of the house again, the next morning the house was cleaned by this superwoman who loves to work with wood and wants tools for presents. Everything was well organised, even my mass was organised neatly. There was nothing in this house that wasn't thought off, or taken care of in the best possible way. If I ever get an afterlife, I either want to be a dog adopted by this couple or a tree in their beautiful garden. The good thing about this place is also that there are some nice things to do nearby. There is a beautiful lagoon and a waterfall, secret places to swim, old houses in the neighborhood, beautiful picknick areas and churches, nice places to have lunch and dinner and beautiful mountains with boulders and many flowers and herbs.

We stayed almost a week with Dylan and Dexter. It was a great experience, we ran through the garden, jointly barked at anyone outside the gate, fell asleep in sun and share, and had great food, we even peed against an 300 year old chestnut tree. Their humans, I think they are called Iker and Marta, were also kind and understanding. They made a great home for us, and we felt like Royal Dogs. They really let us sleep in a very quiet environment. They even had beds and showers for us, imagine.

Wonderfully beautiful country house, renovated with attention to detail, very friendly spacious rooms with a beautiful view and a romantic garden. Marta and Iker are warm landlords who are always available with help and advice and gave us tips on how to get to know the area. The breakfast and Iker's cooking are sensational. Casa do Cabeco is a perfect place for excursions and discoveries, as well as for relaxing and unwinding.

We visited Casa do Cabeco in 2019 and were so very happy to return this year. Marta and Iker are excellent hosts and make you feel like very special guests. Their beautiful home is in a quiet, rural setting. We enjoyed our scenic walks leaving from their front door. Eating dinner here is a must! The food was superb-some of the best that we have ever had. We highly recommend staying here.

The room was exelent, large, confortable and cozy, loved the little surprise where you will find the towels and gel, will not spoil it for you. Marta and Iker will great you with open harms and warm hearts, they are the best hosts you could ever ask for. And finally the breakfast, a meal fit for a king or queen, all fresh and local products prepared with love.

It was a bad decision to visit Casa de Cabeco as a first stop of our trip in Portugal. Because everything else that followed could not match the superb experience we had there. We are a family of four and stayed in Casa do Cabeco for three unforgettable days. The building is stoned-built, a solid structure of late 19th centrury but renovated with extreme care to preserve its original qualities and include modern amenities. The surrounding garden is a magical place preserving its natural beaty but with nice touches here and there and different sitting areas at different levels. Marta and Iker are excellent hosts. Top professionals in terms of providing high quality services but at the same time very friendly and open to people in a very sincere way. They are happy to talk and discuss all sorts of interesting subjects but they also respect your need for privacy. Dylan and Dexter are part of their family and is impossible not to love them. Breakfast is more than sufficient and the jams of Marta the highlight. We had dinner and was perfectly cooked and served. The wine recommendations were excellent. The area is a rural undeveloped part of Portugal so you get a taste of the real Portugal. It is however within a short drive from Porto, Aveiro, Estrella Park, Duro valley and lots of other interesting places. Iker a a live trip advisor, much more accurate than the application. If we get the chance we shall return and make sure that we shall have some more time to take full advantage of the tranquility and quality of this place.
