Amazing hotel and the best one I’ve had a pleasure to stay in South Africa. Make sure you have a dinner at their restaurant. The food is spectacular

Wir waren hier auf unserer Hochzeitsreise. Als wir ankamen, hatte es ein paar Tage geregnet. Das bedeutete, dass die Strohdächer beim Trocknen einen modrigen Geruch abgaben und wir fanden das Cottage, in dem wir wohnten, dunkel und etwas veraltet. Die Anlage war wunderschön, aber für uns war die Lage etwas ruhig. Es gab eine Selbstbedienungsbar, aber keine Hotelbar, und man konnte im Dunkeln zu den anderen Restaurants auf dem Gelände laufen, aber uns wurde empfohlen, mit dem Auto dorthin zu fahren, was wir aber nicht wollten, da wir beide etwas trinken wollten. Der Rückweg vom Baumwipfelrestaurant war sehr dunkel und nicht gut ausgeschildert. Das Frühstück war gut und das Personal hätte nicht hilfsbereiter sein können, aber insgesamt fanden wir nicht viel Atmosphäre und für das Geld, das wir bezahlt haben, erwarteten wir ein viel schöneres Cottage.

I would love to give 4.5 stars and if we came in summer it would be 5 stars. The gardens are stunning specially the aloe garden and the peaceful, mossy path leading to the chapel. The staff were wonderful and the open glass conservatory for breakfast was the most beautiful breakfast room we have ever experienced. The olde-worlde accommodation felt cozy with the weather cold and raining but with the fire raging. But because of the large amount of rain there was a damp smell in the room. One of the staff later told us it was the thatch roof being a bit damp and I wish they had told us that earlier. With the rain having stopped the small was better the next morning. Our only criticism was the blanket placed on top of the duvet. I know it was to keep us warm in cold weather but a beigy-brown blanket did not give us a “clean” feel.

When we turned off the main road and travel down a gravel track we wondered if we had gone the wrong way and then at the end of the track we found an oasis. A beautiful country house with stunning and extensive grounds. We spotted deer, splashed in the pool, enjoyed lounging on soft sofas, and hand three fabulous dinners. The staff were very welcoming with one of them putting their work to one side in order to make my son happy by playing a game of dobble. The bedrooms were spacious, luxurious and warm with a roaring fire in the evenings.

We were greeted by an expanse of breathtaking, perfectly manicured gardens and then treated like royalty. Sparkling wine enhanced our euphoria as we flitted in and out many doorways in the main building, absorbing pure luxury in every breathtaking, elegant, beautifully decorated space. Our cottage was indescribable. A roaring fire greeted as we entered the cozy lounge, equipped with a generously filled hospitality tray and chilled bottle of wine; an ultra-luxurious bed adorned with cotton percale linen and then the pièce de resistance – the opulent bathroom. Every meal was a taste sensation, created and served with passion & pride. The warm and loving contribution of service by all staff is what really tipped the scales for us – absolutely outstanding! Hunters promise gracious elegance with sheer comfort and style - what we experienced far exceeded these expectations. Thank you for a magical stay.

This is without a doubt one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at. The cottages are widely separated within a huge property that invites you to explore and stroll around. The service is exclusive and top, without excessive formality. We enjoyed the good food (also kids meals are great). The rooms are generous and well kept. Would go back there anytime and can highly recommend. Kudos to the entire team!

We felt a part of this special family the moment we walked in the door. Our children were made to feel completely at home while we were offered a refreshing glass of bubbly and sat down to enjoy lunch. The gardens are sensational as is the location. The absolute perfect start or end point to any trip along our Garden Route with wonderful staff, exceptional food, a great history, well appointed kids play area and the most delightful staff. Thank you all who made our stay perfect!

Perfect service, comfortable rooms and beds. Great food. Plettenberg Bay and tsitsikama easy to reach. We had a great time enjoyed great food in the restaurant in a very cosy atmosphere. After dinner took a drink at the tent. Did the famous robberg trail and visited tsitsikama. Unforgettable time. We will come back

Beautiful place and gardens in colonial settings. Excellent service and warm hospitality. Gourmet restaurant and breakfast. Luxury treat. Will definitely come again. 6 stars. Thank you to all from Hunters House in Plettenberg!

We had a wonderful stay. The place has an enchanting relaxing feel. Especially enjoyed the Sage Restaurant food was excellent! Plus the staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms for a 5 star rated property are in need of some TLC. Regardless of that we are planning to return in November.

Enchanting place, best stay we’ve ever had! The rooms are beautiful and luxurious with vintage furniture, comfy beds, a fireplace, nice bathroom, amazing views and excellent service. We stayed in a lovely suite and enjoyed the bedtime poems and snacks, the perfectly maintained surroundings, the great restaurants and delicious breakfast and the peace & quiet. Can’t fault this one, if you get a chance do stay, you won’t regret it!

From arrival until our departure , our stay at Hunters Hotel was amazing. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Nothing's too much trouble for them. We stayed in one of the cottages with the swimming pool. The cottage is beautiful, it was the perfect place to spend a few days during our honeymoon. Hopefully we will back one day :)

Glorious setting with superb food and excellent service. Three excellent restaurants, providing high quality food. Honesty bar in a beautifully appointed lounge. Wonderful breakfasts in the conservatory.
