Das Barcelo Old Town liegt wunderbar zentral. Es eignet sich für alle Reisenden, die nicht im Hoteldistrikt von Funchal im Massentourismus untergehen wollen. Durch die zentrale Lage in der Baixa von Funchal ist das Hotel ideal für ausgiebige Besuche der Stadt. Trotz der zentrale Lage sind die Zimmer absolut ruhig. Ein Highlight ist die Dachterrasse mit Pool. Wunderbar zur Entspannung nach langen Tagesausflügen mit einem tollen Ausblick auf Funchal. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut. Frisch zubereitete Eierspeisen, frisches Obst und eine große Auswahl an weiteren Speisen. Jede Art von Frühstück ist persönlich gestaltbar. Sehr schönes geräumiges Zimmer mit einem sehr guten Bett für entspannten Schlaf. Das gesamte Personal war außergewöhnlich freundlich und hilfsbereit, dem Standard des Hauses entsprechend. Wichtiger Hinweis: das Hotel verfügt über keinen eigenen Parkplatz. Wer einen Mietwagen hat, muss diesen in einem Parkhaus unterbringen, was aber kein Problem ist. Bei der An- und Abreise kann man zum Hotel vorfahren. Nicht von der Beschilderung abschrecken lassen. Für das Be und Entladen darf man in den verkehrsberuhigten Bereich hineinfahren. Fazit: Das Hotel ist absolut zu empfehlen!!

wir waren öfters in Funchal und checken immer im ”the vine” ein. Tolle Zimmer, die Rooftopbar absolut genial. Alle Mitarbeiter sind super freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ganz toll finden wir, dass sich das Hotel in einer Mall befindet. So kann man in Ruhe frühstücken, dann in den Supermarkt, von da dann in die Tiefgarage um den Mietwagen zu holen um dann die Insel zu erkunden. Zusätzlich ist die Lage des Hotels echt super. Nicht im Hotelviertel sondern fast fußläufig zur Altstadt um Abends dort essen zu gehen. Über den Spa-Bereich kann ich leider nichts sagen, da ich diesen nicht genutzt habe.

Wir kommen immer wieder gerne in dieses Hotel und haben uns diesmal den unvergesslichen Anblick des beeindruckenden Feuerwerks gegönnt, das man von den Balkonen sehr gut verfolgen konnte. Mit dem Hotel an sich waren wir wieder sehr zufrieden. Die eindrucksvolle Architektur in top gepflegtem Garten mit schöner Poolanlage ist immer ein guter Grund das Hotel zu wählen. Öffentliche Bereiche und das Zimmer selbst waren sehr sauber, alle Schutzmaßnhamen wurden vorbildlich eingehalten. Das Frühstück war sehr gut, wobei die Auwahl leider sichtbar kleiner geworden ist. Die Poolbar ist ein schöner und gastlicher Ort; schade, dass diese zumindest im Sommer nicht länger als bis 18 Uhr geöffnet ist. Wenn man auf diesem hohen Niveau etwas beanstanden möchte, so ist es die Abreisezeit um 11 Uhr und die Möglichkeit einen late Check-Out auch nur von einer Stunde erst am Abreisetag und nicht schon am Vorabend vereinbaren zu können.

Das Hotel hat eine tolle Lage in der Nähe der Altstadt, wo viele Sehenswürdigkeiten bzw. öffentliche Verkehrsmittel am Fußweg erreichbar sind. Zum Frühstück gibt es eine große Auswahl und die Pastel de Nata waren unter den Besten die wir auf der Insel gegessen haben. Die Räume waren sehr sauber und am letzten Abend wurden wir mit einer Aufmerksamkeit des Hauses überrascht. Die Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption waren sehr freundlich und um jedes Anliegen das wir hatten sehr bemüht. Der Pool ist zwar recht klein, dafür muss man ihn aber reservieren und hat ihn ganz für sich alleine. Das absolute Highlight war aber die Dachterrasse! Ein bunter Ort, an dem man hervorragende Cocktails und die Aussicht über den Dächern Funchals genießen kann.

This is a lovely boutique hotel in the centre of Funchal. The location is excellent and the service is amazing. We didn’t use the spa, but the outside pool and jacuzzi were very pleasant. The breakfast was particularly good with a big selection. We stayed for four nights (a birthday treat). The staff were all very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The service they give is 5 star. A card by the bed informed us that if the pillows or mattress were not condusive to a good nights sleep, to ask for them to be changed. I found my mattress a little on the firm side, and sure enough a nice comfortable topper was placed on the bed and I slept well. A nice touch was the unexpected, beautiful chocolate birthday cake left in the room for me by the staff on the day of my birthday. A couple of matches to light the candle would have been good, but what a lovely suprise. Like many other people I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Ho prenotato questo hotel in quanto sia la posizione centrale che il buon rapporto qualità prezzo, sembravano veramente ottimali per le mie necessità, ma purtroppo le sorprese in negativo mi aspettavano dietro l'angolo. La struttura è in centro, ubicata accanto ad un supermercato in una zona dove non ci sono parcheggi auto, tant'è che si appoggiano ad una loro altra struttura a 50mt di distanza, dove è possibile lasciare il veicolo, introducendolo in un'area parcheggio piuttosto angusta e stretta, dov'è veramente difficile posteggiare. Il personale della struttura è poco cordiale e spesso assente, ma più che altro parlano pochissimo inglese e si curano poco della clientela: c'è un signore di una certa età che fuma di continuo ed è visibilmente turbato quando deve rientrare dentro dovendo buttare la sigaretta a metà. Quando non c'è nessuno nella hall, ognuno può prendere la sua chiave (ma anche quella di un altro) facendo self service ed andare in stanza. La camera è di dimensioni generose, ma ha una moquette lercia e che puzza di muflone, sui comodini ci sono briciole e capelli, per non parlare dell'interno dei cassetti che è inenarrabile... Il bagno è ancora peggio, in quanto non ha una vera e propria vasca e che allo stesso tempo non è nemmeno una doccia: sembra una grossa tinozza tutta incrostata ed ingiallita con 4 rubinetti, 2 per la zona bassa e 2 per la zona alta della doccia (caldo - freddo). Purtroppo la doccia non funziona, pertanto per lavarsi bisogna usare l'acqua della parte bassa che come si può immaginare, non è molto comoda per lavarsi integralmente; anche il phon per i capelli era un disastro in quanto il tubo in plastica da dove usciva il calore era quasi integralmente bucato e l'aria fuoriusciva ovunque tranne che dalla zona dove doveva fuoriuscire. Se a tutto questo ben di dio, ci mettiamo dei letti duri come il porfido e la WiFi che funziona solo alla reception ed al 1' piano dell'edificio (io ero al 3'), direi che c'è ben poco di cui essere entusiasti. Guardando successivamente, ho notato che ci sono altre strutture meglio recensite ad aver dei prezzi abbastanza similari a questo, pertanto opterei di valutare attentamente prima di imbattersi in questa poco soddisfacente avventura.

We are a couple and stayed for 3 nights in this hotel (May 2022). For a 3-stars hotel, we do love their service during our trip in Funchal, Madeira. There are several restaurants nearby to have lunch and dinner. It is only 10 minutes of walking to the nearest beach. We rented a car for 1 day, and the rent car location was so close from the hotel (5 mins of walking). If you are looking for a budget hotel with great service and good location, you may consider this hotel as an option. I recommend this hotel for you. Pros: 1. Location The location is quite good. From the airport, we took aero bus and paid €8 for a return ticket per person. The aero bus only accept payment in cash. The ride will take us around 30 minutes from the airport to the nearest stop (no.3 Mercado). Then, we walked to the hotel for 10 minutes. You just need to climb up the road after you are in 31 Janeiro street. To walk to the city center l, it will take you less than 10 mins too. 2. Check-in The check-in went smoothly and no problem. After we verified our identification card, the receptionist told us about the wifi, breakfast, and others things. 3. Price We made a reservation through OTA. It was good value of money to stay in this hotel. The breakfast already included in the price for 2 people. 4. Room The room is quite simple, clean, and not so big. We had twin beds with a city view (4th floor). There is a TV, chair, table, cupboard. The bed and pillow are comfortable for me. The bathroom is quite big and it is clean. The standard amenities like soap, shampoo are there. The towels are clean. The hot water and the ac worked perfectly. 5. Breakfast The breakfast is not bad, it exceed our expectations. They have fresh bacons and sausage everyday. The view from the breakfast area was so beautiful. 6. Wifi The wifi is easy to connect and the speed is good from our room. 7. Staff The staffs are quite nice and helpful. The man helped us to get to know a ticket available for Porto Santo. The woman helped us with useful information to take the aero bus to the airport. The staffs for breakfast were nice too. 8. Facilities The hotel has spa, restaurant, rooftop bars. Cons: 1. They should improve the fruits salad on the breakfast. The quality of the fruits could be better.

Das Hotel befindet sich in einer perfekten Lage, in der Nähe des Zentrums von Funchal. Zimmer sind modern, extrem sauber und das Personal ist buchstäblich der Grund, warum dieses Hotel so erstaunlich ist. Wir hatten eine erstaunliche Erfahrung und können es absolut garantieren, es ist es absolut wert. Das Frühstück wird nicht über ein Buffet bereitgestellt, Sie erhalten ein Menü, aber Sie können so viele Dinge bestellen wie Sie wollen, keine Grenze. Es ist ein Hotel für Leute, die um Madeira gehen und entdecken möchten. Wenn Sie lieber Orte zum Entspannen, ist das nicht der richtige Ort, da es keinen Pool gibt.
