I have recently stayed at the Coogee view apartments and had the most horrific experience. (February 2024) I was VERY badly bitten by bed bugs!!!! I have decided to write this review in case the apartments have not taken the problem seriously enough to fully fumigate the apartment we stayed in and also thoroughly cleaned all the other apartments too. To be honest we didn’t find the apartment very clean in the first place and we have seen two others which were equally not cleaned to a high enough standard. I am worried that they may have taken short cuts to clean the apartment we stayed in and rented it out again quickly hoping the problem goes away. As we all know bed bugs are a nightmare and not easy to resolve !!! We stayed in flat number 804 At first I didn’t realise where my bites snd rash came from as I had stayed one night in the country. Consequently, I continued to sleep on the same bed and every morning woke up worse. I washed my sheets one day but it didn’t help. I then thought to check under the mattress cover only to discover the bugs literally crawling on the surface. I felt sick to my stomach. The problem was I was there for a wedding and by the time I realised where I was getting bitten, I was a complete bitten mess. I had to go and buy a new dress to hide as much of my body as I could. I was staying with my son, daughter in law and 2 yr old granddaughter. Thank GD only my room was infested as it would’ve been horrendous if they’d been bitten too. Especially the baby! The pain snd itchiness was indescribable! The mental anguish was huge and the knock on effect horrendous. We had to get all our clothes washed in high temperatures which is not ideal for linens which need a cold wash. Then on returning home to London we had to re wash and steam our clothes and steam all the luggage to ensure that we hadn’t brought it back with us. I have been back just under a week and am still suffering with residual itchiness, which has required two drs visits to resolve. The apartments initially offered my only 50% refund which I obviously refused. They did then fully refund us for our stay which was the least they could do in the circumstances. I wish I’d asked them to pay for my dress and alterations as well and it was an added headache and expense I had not expected. Maybe they could still offer to do so🥴 The staff were kind and accommodating and did try their best to help us with the laundering of clothes and moving us to a new apartment. The apartments are very large but very simple. The second apartment was even more basic - the iron didn’t work and there was a shortage of drawer spaces and one draw in the cupboard already had a broken base. My advice to everyone is to always check your beds, linen, mattress covers and mattress before unpacking bags or sleeping on them. If you see tiny blood marks on linen that’s a sign a bug has been squashed onto it! Check for and black spot, the bugs are tiny and hard to see until the
