Not often given to writing reviews on here these days, but have just had the best Valentine weekend ever, and wanted to share why. We have stayed at the Brook Hall before, and have rarely had a bad time, but this was by far the best stay we have had there. We jumped at the chance of a £200 getaway for Valentine's (not something we usually celebrate much), as the list of included treats was irresistible. As it was, we actually paid £220 for a Saturday night (brilliant in itself!), but were rewarded with a suite (the ground-floor Meadow Suite) and a large jacuzzi bath, which was one of the main attractions for us. We arrived before the 2 o'clock check-in time, but were still able to access our room, which was very nearly perfect, with a living room and bedroom and spacious bathroom. There was a large TV in the living room and a smaller one in the bedroom. At four o'clock we were invited down to the lounge for a cream tea, which consisted of the usual scone with jam and cream plus a cuppa, but also included a mini-bottle each of a most delicious prosecco, with chilled glasses. The scones were lovely, and still warm from the oven, and the thick, clotted cream was perfect. We also met Eddie, who looked after us throughout our stay, and could not have been more helpful, pleasant and professional. Nothing was too much trouble for him, and he visited our room during the cream tea to deliver a tiny plate of large, delicious truffles. Dinner was frankly revelatory. We have eaten at the Brook Hall during previous stays, but the menu we were offered on Saturday surpassed expectations completely. The food itself was delicious, with not one of the (essentially) five courses being ranked by us below a nine. A photo of the menu is included and, in case you're wondering, we had the goat's cheese to start, the beef and chicken as mains, and the cheesecake and Eton Mess for pud. Delicious! The jacuzzi bath was fantastic, and the bed was comfortable. They even gave us robes and slippers. Only compliments about the suite! Breakfast was also fantastic, and included a full English, plus any amount of pastries, cereal, fruit, toast, etc. The ubiquitous Eddie was on hand to serve and advise. All in all, a fabulous time at an amazing price. We are lucky enough to live close enough to the Brook Hall to visit there quite easily, but I would unhesitatingly recommend it to anyone. Thanks to everyone at the Brook Hall for an unforgettable stay.
