The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. However the room was less appealing. There were marks on the walls, areas which were unclean and not functioning correctly and parts of the furniture was peeling away. The social area was lovely. Bright and funky. The rooms would benefit from reflecting this as they are a little tired and unloved.

I booked to stay here as I was going to the theatre and this is really close to there and the train station. The lady who checked us in said they're renovating which may explain the mound of rubbish we had to walk past to get up the outside stairs to access the rooms (you don't go through the pub to get to the rooms). Our room was nice (well stocked tea tray) and the bed really comfy and the shower was nice and powerful. There is a lot of stairs and to find the room was a bit of a maze (even though our room was above the bar), the hall smelt fusty and needs to have windows open in the daytime although I appreciate in winter that would make the place cold. I didn't like the fact that the outer door doesn't close automatically so anyone could walk into the building from the car park next to the pub, and it was also very noisy at night - its a busy road and also the other guests were loud and kept slamming doors and shouting on their phones in the corridor but that's not the pubs fault. I think for the price breakfast should be included.

We really our visit. Staff were superb, and room was absolutely fine. Obviously not the Ritz, but I don't need the Ritz - I need a comfy, quiet room and plenty of the right temperature water. I got all of these. The reason I gave 4 instead of 5 is because the bathroom door on the inside needed a good clean. I will definitley return next time I go to Chelmsford. Right opposite to Aldi and an easy walk to the town centre along the river, which felt very safe at night.

Es gibt drei Haupt-Stufen in Chelmsford, dies vielleicht die älteste, aber das Personal ist sehr hilfreich und willkommen. Normale Einrichtungen, aber keine Luftkon-Zimmertemperatur war etwa 32 Grad an den Vorderräumen ein wenig kühler an der Rückseite. Sehr laut mit Menschen, die sich in Zimmern oben ziehen, wie sie durch die Decke kommen. Auch Lärm aus dem Fernseher in der nächsten Zimmer sehr spät am Abend wirklich ärgerlich, aber das Personal behandelt Themen sehr schnell, wenn sie sich bewusst.

Die Muder Mystery Night mit Miss Janet Mapletree und Unterstützungskasten war absolut großartig. Wir haben zusammen einen Tisch von acht Familien und Freunden, die alle den Abend sehr genossen haben. Der Markee am Pontlands Park war schön dekoriert, hatte sogar Kerzen in der Kerze, um die perfekte Atmosphäre zu schaffen. Die drei Kursmahlzeiten, die mit einem Crayfish Salat begonnen, waren brillant, der Hühner in einer Celeriumsaft war lecker und das Trio der Desserts perfekt. Alle wurden mit ausgezeichneten Weinen abgewaschen. Danke Pontlands für einen tollen Abend. Wir werden alle wieder sein.
