Sao Domingos

Knew exactly what to expect, hence our 3rd visit to Sao Domingos. Edwin is spot on! He knows everyone and everything in the area. If you want something he will sort it out. The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable. Rooms cleaned every day. Clean towels everyday. Good size bathroom. TV. Fridge. Kettle. Balcony. Lovely breakfast included. Restaurant is fabulous-wonderful choice and delicious meals served. Bar is a busy area, great for meeting and making friends. Live entertainment almost every night. Music every night. Pool area has areas of shade great for those very hot days. Pool is cool and clean. Finally, the staff. They are wonderful. Friendly, hardworking. Helpful and considerate. They become more than just staff, they become friends. I will be looking forward to seeing them again. Cavelossim is a lovely place to stay. Superb river cruises. Glorious beaches. So many places nearby to visit. And don’t forget the sunrise 🌅 and sunset - magnificent! Thank you India 🇮🇳 x

We booked through Goa Experience who recommended this hotel describing it as simple accommodation. In hindsight I probably would have opted for somewhere a bit more luxurious, but we enjoyed our stay. A ten minute walk to one of the best beaches we have ever been to, Sao Domingo’s has a certain charm about it, reminiscent of the Exotic Marigold Hotel, very popular with retired Brits who return every year. We stayed in a room in Lucianos with a pleasant balcony. The rooms are generally clean and well serviced daily, however there was a horrible smell from the drain in the bathroom which seemed to build up overnight. The bed was very hard, but reception arranged for a mattress topper which helped. They also provided a hairdryer when requested. Food in the restaurant was very good, and breakfast was a pleasant experience every day with excellent table service from the friendly and helpful staff. The swimming pool was not very clean but a nice place to sit and relax in the shade. The live music in the evening was enjoyed by the majority of people from an older generation staying there but was not generally to our taste

This related to Edwin's Goan Village restaurant - cant find a separate entry for that. This is our favourite - partly because it is more open to the fresh air, the ambiance and Edwin's warm welcome. An extensive menu, music on at least 3 evenings, friendly pleasant service. What is there not to like!

We stayed with Edwin and team for 3 weeks from 21st January. We was made welcome rooms are very clean and comfortable. All the staff are charming and helpful. Hair dryer and amazing restaurant and beach hut. You can have washing done and order taxis to take you anywhere. Thank you Edwin and team for an amazing holiday and taking care of us all. We will be back to visit you in 2023.

Well the food was good room was neat and clean. As far as safety there was no comunication facility so in case of emergency u can't do anything.

San Domingo's, WinWin's and Goan Village restaurant are owned and managed by Edwin. He runs a thriving business and has friendly, professional and helpful staff. We had seen San Domingo's on a previous visit in 2019/20 and booked to stay in 21/22 (which was cancelled owing to visa issues) and finally arrived in December 22. Edwin, Hazel and Angelina were all super easy to deal with by email; always a quick response. They arranged for our transfer from and to the airport. Efficient and inexpensive. The room was appropriate for the cost; a good size, excellent aircon and ceiling fan, TV, ensuite wet room. The bed was comfortable (we like a firm bed). We had a balcony overlooking the pool which was nice although the reality is that it was very hot and we mostly stayed in the cool! The pool was beautifully clean and refreshingly 'cool'. I was disappointed to discover that the WiFi was ONLY available in the reception area and not in the bedrooms. As our business was closed for the Christmas period this was not so much of an issue BUT it would have been if we had needed to work more. There are probably ways around this such as buying a local SIM card. It actually served the purpose of us reading more and 'internetting' less! It did mean however that wherever else we went ie to restaurants we feverishly used our phones, probably looking like very old teenagers!! There were a few teething problems too on arrival with the room but these were very quickly improved upon by the staff. If I had a criticism I would suggest that the linen and towels are old and perhaps could be updated. You can arrange for laundry to be done but you need to persist your request at reception; it was beautifully laundered and very reasonably priced. Please note that it is a good 10 minutes walk to the beach in raging heat! The local beach has a few 'shacks' and WinWin's was fantastic. The staff look after you fabulously well and has great WiFi, good food and a great ambience. A special mention to Guru! San Domingo's is right in the middle of a good clutch of restaurants and is a great place to stay.

Worst stay ever

They did not give water even each day, we had to go and ask for everything. Wifi was not working, but they mentioned it in amenities. Tv was not working with cables, for that as well we had to call multiple times the service guys and they fixed but again it was same. Even in bathrooms they gave soaps that too very small soap and for 2 nights of stay. Every day we had to ask the service guy to for even little things. The location is fine though, the beach is at walkable distance and it was a peaceful beach.

Отдыхали семьей с маленьким ребенком (3 года) в декабре 2022. Когда читали отзывы, были немного шокированы отрицательными отзывами, но в целом рейтинг отеля был хорошим и мы решили рискнуть. Как же мы были приятно удивлены, когда приехали в отель! Мы приехали рано и хозяин отеля сразу предложил нам позавтракать после долгой дороги. На завтраках были яйца всех видов, без изысков, но этого было достаточно, чтобы наесться. Для ребенка персонал любезно согласился варить овсяную кашу на молоке. Еда была всегда вкусная, даже капризный ребенок всегда с удовольствием ел кашу. В этом же кафе мы потом и ужинали, по вечерам играла музыка, иногда живое выступление (не всегда артисты с хорошим слухом, но это уже о другом :) ) Музыка играла строго до 23.00. Номера небольшие, но чистые! Убирались и меняли полотенца каждый день, белье меняли почти каждый день. Персонал всегда доброжелателен и готов прийти на помощь. На пляж шли с маленьким ребенком минут 12, это, конечно, не мало. Но это потому что мы не брали коляску, с коляской было бы бодрее. На пляже при этом отеле есть кафе У Николая. Честно скажу, что питались только там и ни с чем не сравнивали, т.к. и еда, и ребята, которые там работают, нас полностью устраивали и не хотелось экспериментов с маленьким ребенком. В целом мы остались очень довольны отдыхом и можем смело рекомендовать этот отель.
