Wir hatten einen sehr schönen, 2-tägigen Aufenthalt in diesem kleinen Hotel mit Stil und kolonialem Flair. Es liegt hervorragend und zudem überraschend ruhig, um die wunderbare Altstadt von Cartagena zu Fuß zu erkunden.Das Personal ist ausgesprochen freundlich, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Unser Zimmer #6 („Pirates“) zum Innenhof/-Garten ausgerichtet im Obergeschoss hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Gutes Bett und funktionierendes stilechtes Bad/Dusche. Die Klimaanlage und Ventilator waren gut und nötig bei Temperaturen über 30 Grad Celsius, die „gefühlt“ sogar mit 42 Grad angegeben waren. Es gibt ein kleines, jedoch gutes Frühstück und der frisch gebrühte, dampfende Kaffee „Tinto“ war gut und die Eierspeisen und das frische Obst ebenso. Nur die leider (nicht selbstgemachten) klein abgepackten Marmeladen taugen nicht viel zum Toast; am besten etwas eigene mitbringen. Minipool bzw. Tauchbecken und Jacuzzi auf dem Dach haben wir nicht genutzt; dazu war‘s uns zu heiß. Es gibt eine Bibliothek mit Kaffeemaschine (Kaffee ist gratis dort) und Wasser kann man sich selbst zapfen. Frühstück gibt’s ab 7 Uhr und man sitzt recht schön mit Blick in einen kleinen grünen Garten. Danke an Manuel und Gerson und die Kolleginnen vom Service und in der Küche. Wir haben uns als Gäste herzlich willkommen gefühlt und können das Hotel Alfiz wärmstens empfehlen. Es bietet alles, was wir uns davon versprochen haben. Kein spektakulärer intl. Luxus, dafür Authentizität, Gemütlichkeit und Gastfreundlichkeit.

Beautiful tranquil hotel in great central location. Cartagena is a beautiful city but it is busy and noisy and Alfiz is a little oasis in the middle of the action. Lovely character rooms with quirky but functional bathrooms. Pool is small but is big enough to cool down in but don’t expect to be able to swim. Ground floor rooms open into inner courtyard and have frosted glass windows so no views and little noisy in the mornings with breakfast being prepared. Upper rooms have view and may be quieter. Despite these caveats, would strongly recommend this hotel.

Fantastic small hotel in an old colonial building inside the city walls. Everything we wanted to see was in easy walking distance. It was lovely to return to the cool courtyard, refreshing small pool and fabulous coffee every day. Staff were helpful and breakfasts were great. Thank you.

A beautiful small personal hotel in an old colonial building in the middle of the historic city. The staff were friendly and really helpful. Most of what we wanted to see was walking distance so it was lovely to return to the cool courtyard (and their excellent coffee!) when the heat got too much. Also highly recommend the guided tour they arranged.

Alfiz is an amazing property. Given that people have been living there since 1777 it was like experiencing history: not quite time travel as we had electricity and plugs to recharge devices. The breakfast will be custom made to your specific tastes by an excellent cook and delightful serving staff. The location was fabulous for exploring Centro, eating in great restaurants, and catching early morning catamaran trips to the Rosarios. We were advised by the Manager long before our arrival that the 2 level junior suite might be difficult for the seniors that we are. I wanted the experience anyway. However, the steps are dimly lit & while I was very careful somehow in the morning I still managed to fall down the suspended stairs where the steps become very narrow on the turn. Luckily it was mostly my pride that was hurt, not my body so much. I just think I should caution others nearing their 80s that maybe it would be wise to reserve one of their other rooms that do not have a mezzanine bedroom. You’ll still get the wonderful experience of this hotel.

Just perfect...Vert well located in the very center of the city and very quiet at the same time . Personnel is very helpful ..Rooms and breakfast are just perfect . Just be awre the the swimming pool is pretty small ....but we did not come to Carthagena to go to the swimming pool !!

We stayed 6 nights in the Family suite. We were four adults and were extremely comfortable and pampered. Each sleeping area has its own bathroom and shower. The downstairs bedroom window looks out on the courtyard of the hotel, not outside. This is not a disadvantage. The courtyard is peaceful and green and the street can be noisy at night. It's Cartagena! The balcony is lovely and fabulous for people watching. Everything about this hotel is charming. It is a former(large) private home that has been lovingly restored and is extremely clean and well maintained. Breakfast is in the courtyard and consists of fresh fruit prepared in front of you with a fresh juice, coffee, toast, choice of eggs. Very satisfying. Saving the best for last, Farid and Karina helped us immensely with our travel plans, transportation and sightseeing. We had a great experience.

Hotel Alfiz, located in Cartagena's old town has an ambiance that takes one back to the Cartagena of long ago. The rooms, which retain old world flair, are clean, well maintained with efficient A/C. ALL the staff is amazing: Karina's prompt responses during the booking process were very helpful. Upon arrival Alejandra greeted us with refreshments, while Manuel acquainted us with the hotel and showed us to our rooms. Manuel started most our days serving breakfast with a ready smile and attentive service. On other days Maria was equally pleasant and attentive. We wanted to sample the tropical fruit juices and we asked Farid, who directed us to a perfect spot--muy acojedor. And a thank you to the lady in the kitchen for preparing our breakfasts. We felt so welcomed, thank you everyone!!!

Located in the middle of old town Cartagena, it is a hotel with only eight rooms in a colonial building and could be described with a single word: CHARMING! And the staff were attentive and caring, and wonderful breakfast! We had great three days!
