Firstly we would not say this is a 4 star hotel, possibly a 2 star however, we paid €60 per night (plus €15 per night parking) in mid July for a double room on the 6th floor and we thought it was good value for money. The good things first, staff were exceptionally friendly with the front desk always manned. Our room was large and airy with good air con and the bed very large and comfortable. Location is perfect for the town centre which is a 10 to 15 minute stroll away. Things to improve on …. The allocated hotel spaces in the underground parking are exceptionally tight - if you have a car bigger than a Ford Focus you will probably struggle to park here. Despite exchanging emails on different subjects before our visit they never told us that improvement work was being carried out on the hotel; you don’t even get told on your check in - there is just a sign in the lift. Consequently, when we were woken up in the morning at 9am with the sound of jack hammers we were not impressed. Our room on the top (6th) floor was very dated and certainly looked nothing like the rooms shown on their websites. The double glazing had no effect in stopping outside street noises especially the street sweeper at 6 am. The bathroom is not vented nor has an openable window, there are no cups or glasses of any type supplied in the room; free tea and coffee is available in the foyer. There is no bar or restaurant in the ‘4 star’ hotel though a continental breakfast can be purchased. So, would we go back or recommend this hotel - strangely yes if the price stays the same and they complete the renovations.

Schönes Hotel in einer tollen Lage für die Exploration von Cartagena. Die Rezeption war wirklich freundlich und hilfsbereit und das Zimmer war schön. Sehr modern und schön ausgestattet. Wir hatten auch eine Kessel im Zimmer mit Tee & Kaffee und einem Kühlschrank. Das Hotel würde sicher wieder reservieren.

Das Hotel ist sehr modern und es ist gut für ein 3-Start-Hotel, sie haben sogar eine Minibar in den Zimmern, aber die Betten sind nicht komfortabel für mich, die Matratze sind nicht hart genug und Sie fühlen Sie sich in. Die Dusche ist wirklich gut zu! Die Mitarbeiter der Rezeption sollten freundlicher sein und die Gäste begrüßen. Keine nette Berührung bei der Ankunft oder beim check out. Das Hotel ist OK für 1 Nacht und wenn Sie nicht planen, im Zimmer zu lange zu bleiben.

Das saubere Hotel, im Zimmer fehlte der Kaffeemaschine, wie in der Beschreibung. Das große Bett, das etwas harte Bett, die wunderschönen Küken. Das reguläre Bad, wir bestellten eine Dusche, aber wir bekam das Badezimmer. Regelmäßige Geschirr, ein wenig auf schlechter Stelle und auch die Verwendung ist schwieriger. Es fehlten die anderen Artikel, die Sie in der Beschreibung des Hotels. Das Frühstück ist sehr reichhaltig, aber nicht variable, sehr elegante und sehr ruhig, aber der Preis ist etwas hoch.

Schönes Hotel in einer tollen Lage für die Exploration von Cartagena. Die Rezeption war wirklich freundlich und hilfsbereit und das Zimmer war schön. Sehr modern und schön ausgestattet. If you accept the fact that you will need to catch the bus to the port abd city centre then Hotel Manolo is a good value, clean and comfortable place to stay in Cartagena. It is either a 3km, 40 minute walk to the port or €1.20 on the number seven bus! The room was clean, spacious and comfortable with air conditioning and a fridge (which is a bonus in a Spanish hotel). The staff were courteous and helpful and the menu del noche varied and good value (there were very few restaurants open on our first night which was a Monday). There is also a lovely Spanish tapas bar within five minutes walk from the hotel - El Paso de Los Elefantes. I would recommend Hotel Manolo and the tapas restaurant.

We spent 5 nights in room 330 and loved it. We had the biggest bed I have ever been in, an enormous bathroom on the quiet side of the hotel, big windows with quite a nice view. The room felt like a home from home, was kept spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. One of the best and unexpected things is that the hotel has a cafe/restaurant attached called La Posada which is open to non residents and plenty of Spanish people pop in for morning coffee or to meet their friends so you feel part of the life of the country around you. We didn't plan to have breakfast at the hotel but it turned out to be the best option because the choice and atmosphere was so good. We ate supper on 3 of the 5 evenings in La Posada and would thoroughly recommend it for quality and value for money. This hotel is under 10 minutes walk to the famous harbour, minutes from the bus station and a very easy walk to all the main tourist attractions. It is at the edge of the old port city so you get the best of both old and new worlds. This hotel suited us perfectly because we like to be in a hotel which feels local/family run and feels a part of the community around it. If you have dinner in the hotel I would recommend the seasonal salad to start and one of the fish options for the main course. PS We flew into Murcia International airport and the most practical way to get to Cartagena & the hotel is a taxi for around 45 euros which takes under 30 minutes. There is a big taxi rank when you step outside the airport.
