Elba Castillo San Jorge & Antigua Suite Hotel

Lovely hotel, exceptionally clean and the staff are lovely too, they even left a bottle of cava in our room on my birthday! The beds are the comfiest I have ever slept on in the whole of the Canaries. Entertainment is great as well, good to keep the kids amused. We will definitely be back here. WiFi is not great and there is no air conditioning in the rooms, a little tip is to open the bathroom and bedroom window, it allows the room to cool to a comfortable temperature. These are the only faults I could find in my time here, all the plus points certainly outway the not so good points, hence why we will definitely come back here.

Great location right on sea front only 15 mins walk to beach. We went half board and the food was plentiful always more than enough choice. We were allocated a 2 bed sea view apartment wow the views were amazing. 1136 corner apartment views of the sea from every room. In need of a refresh but nothing a lick of paint wouldn’t resolve so no big issue for us. Rooms cleaned every day, beds were comfy, plenty of storage space All staff very friendly and accommodating. We didn’t spend anytime at the pools but all outside areas were cleaned daily, gardens immaculate. If you’re not all inclusive there’s an English Bar Dig & Duck at the front of the complex. The most well stocked bar and friendly staff worth a visit. We would definitely stay here again.

You will either love it or hate it, depending on your tastes. Again we booked a sea view deluxe room with Jet2 Could not fault the room walk in shower, always hot water any time of day ,large double bed very comfortable spare pillows if needed, large kettle with tea coffee etc, lacking in plugs so take a small extension with you. Wifi was free and good reception over all the hotel Short walk to bars and restaurant no faults with the food plenty of choice each meal, if you fancy a indians recommend Fusion 22 which is a short walk away. Drinks were plentiful good choice short waits at bar, entertainment was as per norm. Starts around 9:00pm so early dinner 6.30pm walk down to main town and back for 9. Sun beds we had the same two each day, take your towels down on the way to breakfast to put on loungers plenty to pick from but pool area does fill up early. Slight problem with litter blowing around and not being picked up, painting a bit dated, but overall all clean areas As at home the town is starting to look a bit tattered, lots of shops, and units closed down and prices creeping up in bars and restaurants. Coming home use the JET2 check in desk in the hotel and forget about your cases until you are home, at the airport in terminal B allow extra time for passport control long queues around 15-20 mins to get through customs. . Worth another visit next year.

What an amazing mini staycation! With 3 kids under 5, even a flight trip away without the endless requests for something would have been a break but thanks to last minute flights (for 2), a great hotel minutes from the airport, then Nara, the hotel receptionist, we’ve had an amazing 23 hours! Yes l, that’s right, one day of heaven. We arrived at the hotel at 11am and were welcomed by the beautiful Nara! After explaining our crazy antics, Nara offered a free room upgrade with sea view! What a delight. We drank cocktails, basked in the sunlight and ate well before being picked up the next day at 10am to return to the airport. “Was it worth it?” Yes! “Would you do it again? Hell yes!

Will put this into context : family, two adults & a 10 year old. Not our main holiday but an additional week to get away from the cold of England. Traveled with Jet2. Location 10/10 Great location, close to shops & the harbour but right on the sea front overlooking the crashing waves. Lovely & quiet with beautiful walks nearby. View 10/10 We booked a sea view room ( after reading the trip advisor reviews) and were allocated one in the Antigua section of the hotel ( the hotel is in two blocks but still connected the san Jorge side and the Antigua side ) the upgrade to sea view was 100% worth it. I think the best view we've ever had at a hotel. We would walk across the sea front most days fussing the cats ( the island has lots of cats that are well looked after by a charity & very kind people ) and feed the little chipmunks that come out of the rocks. It was a great way to get exercise in and take in the wonderful sites. Rooms 5/10 We had a one bedroom apartment style with a microwave, fridge, small hob & toaster. The room was a good size. The bed in the living area was comfy & a good size. The rooms were very tired and run down. The bathroom had a lot of water damage and rust/ limescale. Towels were not of good quality & everywhere looked old & in need of replacement. Only two plastic patio chairs on the balcony which needed a good scrub. This is a 3 star hotel so I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but they need an update. I will say that the rooms were well insulated and fairly quiet. I'm a light sleeper so this matters. We were on the top floor so no one above us, so can't speak of other rooms. You can hear the entertainerment till about 10:30/11pm and some noise does travel in the seating area by the kids stage. But it's nothing too severe. Pool 6/10- we used the pool by the sea front the most, there is a quiet one on the San Jorge side, but we only went there once. My daughter enjoyed the pool most days, it's freezing cold and I couldn't stay in long. Lots of floats left by other kids which are fun to play with. Again pool area is old & in need of a refurb. Sunloungers need replacing. You have to leave a deposit for the towels and pay a €1 to replace them. Lots of sunbed saving which was really annoying. Not just one or two but 10+ for the large groups. They say they will remove them. But I never saw this. Staff- staff were lovely & friendly and work very hard. From the cleaners to the food servers. We didn't do the kids club or the bar so can't comment. Food We went half board and to be honest we felt the food was the biggest area we struggled with. We like quality food and cook a lot at home. The quality was poor and tasted cheap. We had to eat out a few times especially desserts which sometimes were just jelly & horrible fluorescent mousses. Drinks weren't great, the coffee machine & breakfast fruit shakes were good. I asked for fresh orange juice the first night & it was like drinking undiluted orange squash. Breakfast was very

Just a quick review, I always go to this hotel if available when on holiday to Fuerteventura. Been 4 or 5 times Food great, staff great rooms being upgraded but still great. Had a see view this time and was well worth it. Going back in November 23

4 of us all ladies arrived on Saturday 26th for a week of winter sun. Our flight arrived in the evening and the check in was quick. Our apartment was great for us. Both rooms had twin beds which was perfect for 4 friends. Our balcony was enormous and each room had double doors onto it. The one thing lacking was any decent furniture in the lounge or balcony. One very tatty sofa bed in the lounge and 4 plastic chairs and a table on the balcony. We used the table to eat from inside and out and supplement the seating as with 4 adults we had nowhere to sit. We did not cook. There was adequate plates etc to prepare and eat breakfast but no chopping board and only one sharp knife. The views were spectacular and you could hear the waves crashing on the rocks. We went to the beach every day which is about a 10 minute walk as the pool area wasn’t very sunny and the pool not heated. Our experience in the hotel was good. Our only real problem was the resort itself. All the beach front is owned by a string of Barcelo hotels so all the beach bars and restaurants are owned by them too and the normal restaurants are at least one road back from the sea. The quality of the restaurants was not brilliant. I would come here only on AI at a Barcelo hotel.

For 14 years my wife and I have been staying here during January as our treat for our wedding anniversary. This year we were left slight disappointed and debating whether to return next year. As always I emailed reception prior to our stay (and received acknowledgement) requesting a specific room/area of the hotel. We arrived at 230pm and was told our room wasn’t ready so were given drinks vouchers as were others around us. Finally at 415pm our room was ready however it was not the requested room/area, immediate disappointment. I didn’t complain as I wanted to get settled and enjoy the last hour of sun. I got the feeling the cleaners were struggling to tidy up after the mass Christmas exodus .. maybe change the check out time to 11am rather than midday to give them more time? Our room had the sea view we paid for but tired/old furniture, not sure when the settee cover had last been washed, and cracked bathroom appliances. It was definitely busier around the pool this time around, what cash crisis?! Sunbeds in prime positions were reserved by 8am and 90% of all sunbeds reserved by 10am, for this reason we’d never take our kids during school hols, must be a nightmare getting a bed. Staff were friendly and communal areas were clean. We were self catering so can’t comment on the food/drink, maybe that’s why we were treat as we were on arrival Hotel is geared up for AI.
