Arguably one of the worst hotel stays I've had. The experience completely falls short of expectations.
At check-in, I asked if I could pay extra for a Seaview room. They told me I couldn't because of construction and I would be disturbed by the noise. When I got to my non-Seaview room, I could hear construction noises and when I looked out, the building opposite had men at work. I hardly kept my curtains open because of it. The one time I did, someone tried to peek into my room.
I was placed in the Ridge building, separate from the main building. To get to the rooms, you have to take a lift, walk past rooms, walk through an outdoor walkway which gets really dark late at night, walk past more rooms and then take another lift to get to your room. The first night, feeling unsafe so far from the main building and alone, I told Marv at the desk I really needed a room change. He said he'd check for other rooms but never got back to me. After a couple of nights, due to a busy schedule, I stopped pursuing a room change.
I had requested a pressing service for my dress and when they returned it, they had hung it with the bottom folded so it got all crumpled. Upon complaining and asking them to repress, I requested the dress be laid flat on the bed instead, as there's no place to hang anything longer than a shirt.
Probably a language barrier, but staff insisted I open the door when I told them to leave the requested bottled water outside. I said I'm just headed to the shower so leave it outside the door and he said, "just open the door." It felt invasive and inappropriate.
The hotel pool was a disappointment – just a small rectangle of water. And the pool bar is just a counter by the side of the pool. Not the resort pool experience one would expect. To their credit, they give you an allowance to use a pool at the next hotel, which is their sister property.
If you like to walk, you'll be fine with the location because it's a walk everywhere - the beach, the sister property pool, the nearest convenience store, smoking area.
They have a shuttle that takes you to Station 2, but its schedule is quite limited. It starts late in the morning, so if you want to do activities like island hopping where the meetup is at 9 am, you'd have to book your own trike at 300 pesos or use the hop-on-hop-off (150 pesos for a one-day pass and takes you everywhere in Boracay). The last shuttle pickup is at 10:30 pm, so you can't really go out partying or come back late if you rely on the shuttle.
There's no soundproofing at all. I could hear everything: footsteps above, people talking outside, the construction, and the worst was the room next door blasting music in the morning. It took two calls to the front desk before they finally stopped it.
The food is not great. After one meal, I decided to skip the breakfast I'd already paid for. Additionally, room service concluded at 9:30 pm, which is inconvenient given the lack of nearby dining options.
Most of the staff are not friendly and act indifferent to you. I felt really unwelcome here - staff either act like you're inconveniencing them, or they answer everything in a nonchalant way. The second night I talked to Marv about booking shuttles, he barely even looked up from his phone.
Honestly, it felt more like staying in a motel, and I wouldn't recommend it. Maybe it was just a bad string of luck on my end. If it was one isolated incident, I could be understanding about it, because who doesn't mess up, right? But I'm glad I moved to a Henann for the rest of my stay. I still had a good time in Boracay, but I wouldn't come back to this hotel or suggest it to anyone.
