The Hotel Umbra is an excellent choice for visiting Assisi and exploring the surrounding area. My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in mid-June, ‘23, and enjoyed it very much, The hotel is in a great location just off the Piazza Del Commune and in the center of the historic section of town. There is no long term parking nearby, so it is a bit of a challenge if you have a car to drop or pick up your luggage. The hotel sent directions that involved parking briefly in front of the Tourist Information Office located on one edge of the square, then proceeding through the narrow streets to a parking area (note, you can drive to the edges of the square but not through it). However, we wound up parking in the Matteotti Parking Garage then walking to the hotel for better driving directions. We then parked temporarily on the other side of the square in the Taxi Stand area, dropping one person and the luggage, then driving an easy route back to Matteotti. We reversed this when we departed. Rolling your luggage is slightly farther but still a reasonable distance. This may sound daunting, but it is worth the trouble. The hotel is a friendly and welcoming place with a lovely garden terrace at the entrance (a restaurant in pre-Covid days), a small cozy lobby, and a large breakfast room off to one side. The family owners were the front desk staff and were very helpful in providing directions, suggestions, and recommendations. Our room (#32) was on the 2nd (U.S.) floor, easily reached by an elevator. It was very large and had a nice rooftop view of part of town and the valley beyond. There was a sofa, a low and firm king bed, two night stands, desk, dresser with lots of storage space, an armoire, and a small refrigerator. About the only downside of the room was the scarcity of outlets, a legacy of the age of the building most likely. Wifi was strong and fast. The attractive bathroom was reached by a couple of steps. It wasn’t large but adequate, with a small shower and bidet. There was only a small amount of storage on the vanity. Breakfast was pretty good – some fresh fruit, fruit juice, single cup coffee machine, yogurt, scrambled eggs (a bit salty for our tastes), and an array of baked goods. Note that Rick Steves recommends the hotel and his tour groups use it. If you mention his name you may get a 10% discount. We also recommend it and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. It is a convenient, comfortable, and welcoming choice for visiting Assisi.

Sie haben auch ein Restaurant (genau auf dem Platz) wo Sie sehr gut essen. Wir werden sicherlich sowohl zum Hotel als auch zum Restaurant zurückkehren. P.S. Zum Hotel zugreifen gibt es Treppen und ist daher nicht angezeigt, wer Probleme hat.

Hotel nel centro storico di Assisi dotato di parcheggio a pagamento nelle vicinanze. La nostra camera, si affacciava sulla via ed aveva una bella vista, era spaziosa con un bel bagno anch'esso grande e finestrato. Buona la colazione sempre rifornita dal personale. Ottima la posizione per visitare il centro di Assisi.

This was our favorite stay in our trip to Italy. No elevators for those that can't go up stairs. The hotel is nestled among the beauty of Assisi. The grounds have beautiful views and very nicely maintained. The room we had was very clean and comfortable. We were greeted by the kindest and friendliest staff. Marco and Lara were exceptional hosts. Marco took care of all our needs. We arrived when restaurants were mostly closed between lunch and dinner and he prepared a beautiful tray for us with their delicious wine. The breakfast was included in the price of the hotel room and was magnificent. We will definitely be staying there again.

Come ogni anno, anche in occasione del Natale 2021 abbiamo trascorso la festività ad Assisi. Per vari motivi abbiamo deciso di provare un nuovo hotel e scelto proprio il San Rufino, Accoglienza carina della ragazza, di cui purtroppo non ricordo il nome, che ci ha fatto il chek in e dato le prime indicazioni. Sempre sorridente e disponibile. La camera semplice, noi abbiamo preso una matrimoniale, ma completa di ogni comfort e soprattutto pulita! Io guardo anche sotto il letto perchè sono un soggetto allergico alla polvere e questo ”dettaglio” lo considero importante. Colazione abbondante e varia. La posizione è la sua carta vincente, soprattutto è stata per noi una scelta azzeccata in quanto per questa volta abbiamo deciso di non prendere la macchina ma di arrivare in aereo fino a Perugia e poi prendere il bus per Assisi. La fermata è vicinissima ma al contempo l'hotel si trova anche a due passi, proprio due contati, dal bellissimo duomo di San Rufino e poi dal resto del centro attraverso le viuzze tipiche. Se non avete pretese di lusso ma essenziali come la pulizia, l'accoglienza, la posizione, la tranquillità perchè vicino dal centro ma distante dai rumori - ammesso che ad Assisi ce ne siano - ritengo consigliatissimo l'hotel San Rufino. Ottimo il rapporto qualità/prezzo. A presto amata Assisi!

Wir haben Assisium für unseren 2-night Aufenthalt auf der Grundlage von TA Bewertungen gewählt und wir waren nicht enttäuscht. Dies ist unser zweiter Aufenthalt in Assisi. Große Lage und ein sehr kleines (14 Zimmer) Boutique-Hotel. Das Hotel ist neu, sehr sauber und zeitgenössisch, aber sehr komfortabel. Die Zimmer sind groß mit sehr komfortablen Betten und ein sehr schön eingerichtetes Badezimmer. Das Frühstück ist inbegriffen und ist gut - nichts über dem Top, aber alle Frühstückselemente. Es gibt eine Expresso/Cappuccino-Maschine im Halleweg außerhalb unseres Zimmers mit ist ein schöner Kontakt. Die Rezeption war ausgezeichnet und hilfsbereit. Das Hotel verfügt auch über ein Restaurant, wo das Frühstück serviert wird und dann für Abendessen geöffnet wird. Das Hotel hat keine Bar (nur 14 Zimmer!), es gibt eine große Weinbar direkt über die Straße. Nur Rückmeldungen würde ich geben, dass es schön gewesen wäre, in dem Zimmer Wasser zu befüllen. Das Hotel hat eine Vereinbarung mit dem Parkplatz auf der Straße. Sie nehmen Ihre Taschen weg und fahren dann das Auto zum Lot und zahlen 20 Euro pro Nacht. Wir hatten eine kleine Herausforderung mit unserem GPS zunächst das Hotel zu finden, aber letztendlich haben wir es. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass Sie in das richtige Ende der Stadt eintreten. Sie wollen nicht in das Ende mit der San Francisco Kirche. Auch, sehr gut bezahlt für Assisi. Insgesamt empfehle ich sehr.
