Martinhal Quinta Family Resort

We had another wonderful stay at Martinhal and were blessed with some hot winter sun. The resort as always is immaculate and so peaceful. Although the pool area and restaurant are currently closed for refurbishment we took advantage of the take away lunches delivered to our villa. The salads were amazing and as always the staff could not do enough for us. Can’t wait to return and see the new restaurant and pool area

We stayed at this resort for one week early August 2023. I cannot stress how much you should not waste your money staying here! Do not be sold by the family friendly angle - it's just marketing!! There are much better places to stay in Quinta and they need to seriously improve their standards across the board if they want to compete. We did check in late due to a flight cancellation so we obviously got one of the poorest villas, but for the money they are charging there should be a general standard enforced across the board. All of the Villa owners should be responsible for a reasonable level of upkeep for their villas. We stayed at peak season so paid a large amount of money for a very poor two bed townhouse with extremely outdated decor. I can accept poor decor but it had not been cleaned properly, there were tiles missing in the bathrooms and the outside area was extremely poor with tiles missing and ants everywhere. We have a 6 year old and a 20 month old baby and the pool area was not suitable for our youngest to walk around. My main issue was the cockroaches, and there were so many of them! I complained 4 times and got no feedback from reception or action of any sort. We were forced to buy cockroach spray and take matters into our own hands. I was so happy to leave at the end of the week.

We loved our stay in Martinhal, Quinta Do Lago. The location is great. The Villa was fabulous, very clean, well equipped and the staff were exceptional. We didn't want to leave and we will definitely will go back.

Overall, we didn’t enjoy the Martinhal experience in Quinta do Lago. There is not hotel, just lots of villas with a shared pool area, and kids’ club/playground. Family members have stayed in other Martinhals and spoken very highly of them and for this reason we decided to go there. We were really disappointed as we hadn’t realized there was no hotel attached to the resort and that it was a much more basic experience.

We are coming to the end of a week staying at Martinhall Quinta. We booked a 4 bedroom villa for 2 families. The resort is nice with excellent friendly and helpful staff. The main pool area is nice and it’s great to have a kids club onsite. This however is where the positives end as the standard of the villa is extremely poor. When booking through Martinhall you cannot see the type of villa you will be allocated, just photos of examples. This is high risk as some of their villas are in a terrible state. Specific issues we had with our villa: 1. There were tiles missing all over the pool (photos attached) on the steps and all over the bottom. My daughter cut her foot on the step so we ended up not using the pool for the holiday. Very frustrating when we’d specifically wanted a villa with a pool for the kids! 2. No hairdryers in the villa. We had to call reception to ask them to bring some to the villa. 3. Terrible smelling drainage in the kitchen. 4. One bathroom had no hot water. This was fixed during our stay but we had 2 days of it not working. 5. No cushions on outdoor chairs which made sitting at the tables quite uncomfortable. 6. No BBQ unless you may 25 euro each time you want to use a BBQ. 7. Light fittings in many places were hanging off the ceiling looking like they might fall off. In summary I would not recommend booking a villa with Martinhall Quinta. They obviously do not hold the owners of f the villas accountable for maintaining a good standard of accommodation and it’s a lottery as to what villa you will get. We have been offered a replacement villa for our last 2 nights however this is too late to make a difference as we’ll only get 1.5 days out of our 7 day holiday in a better villa.

Lovely stay at the villas. The villa are clean and in great location. The facilities are great, big properties and ensuite rooms. Great place to entertain and party. Big swimming pool and lovely place for adults and kids especially.

The accommodation is very spacious and the resort is very well managed. You will need a car to get around, but lots of facilities a close drive away. There is a small shop onsite for basic provisions.

We stayed here last week and absolutely loved it. My 3 year old son loved the playground, playschool Raspinhos and sandpit while my 13 year old daughter got the most enjoyment from the trampoline and indoor swimming pool (November weather overcast on some days). The resort itself is so beautiful everything in the resort is manicured to perfection lawns palm trees villas etc. What struck me most was that almost everybody that I spoke to were repeat customers and tended to visit around Feb/March and Oct/November times. My advice to anyone visiting here is that the shop on site is quite pricey for example we paid over 20 euro for chicken nuggets and pizza which cost a quarter of the price in the supermarket Pingo loco in the main shopping mall apart from that it was a very enjoyable stay and I can't wait to return.

Another great holiday- the resort is so peaceful and relaxing and it was a joy to walk to and from the villa with all the beautiful plants and shrubs in bloom. We had breakfast this year which was exceptional but would prefer to go back to the buffet style served on upper terrace. Service round the pool area was much improved from our prior visits and staff very attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to return later in year.
