Douneside House

Lovely hotel and everything was great till we got home. The day after we checked out I received an email c/w an invoice saying they had missed £94.10 worth of drinks from our bill and that they would use the card on file to take the payment. I immediately called to inform them that the drinks listed were definitely not ours and suggested they speak to the barman who had served us during our stay as I was sue he would remember what we had ordered. It is now five days later and I have heard nothing back from the hotel. I would have expected someone would have the decency to contact us to confirm their mistake and an apology would have been nice. I feel they have definitely let themselves down. This was our second visit and I now feel it will be our last.

Beautiful place which deserves more than 4 stars. The service was excellent and staff were very friendly. The food is outstanding and I was absolutely delighted with their handling of my dietary requirements (gluten free)... They went above and beyond to make sure I didn't miss out. Wish we could have stayed more than one night.

Fantastic in every way. A hidden gem that is one of the best hotels you could ever wish for. This typifies a 5 star hotel with staff who genuinely love being part of the hotel. Dining is superb, breakfast better, peaceful, relaxing and very friendly.

Royal Deeside's Hidden Gem. I stayed overnight with friends, I had a cottage and they had rooms. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, the accomodation was excellent, the meals (Dinner and Breakfast) were wonderful and the staff as always simply superb throughout our stay. I visit Douneside often in my capacity as the leading Tour Guide on Deeside and can say with certainty that this is one place that will never let you down!

From start to finish this was a wonderful stay. The hotel is a wonderful space with many facilities. The public spaces are beautiful, ample and comfortable. The rooms are well designed/ decorated with everything you need. The restaurant and bar are amazing with fantastic service. The food is a very high standard with a good selection to choose from. I found that the staff were all wonderful. They were welcoming, professional and really wanted to make your stay as wonderful as possible. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the view is stunning. Can’t fault it and I’d be back in a heartbeat!

Great overnight DBB stay here. Everything was perfect from lovely Christmas decorations cosy log fires to the amazing dinner and lovely breakfast in the morning. Managed a walk after breakfast as was raining on our arrival previous day would be lovely in the summertime. Highly recommend for a special occasion 😁👍

Can't praise this gem of a place high enough. House beautiful, staff fantastic and attentive, food delicious. Grounds are lovely for walking even in February. Warm cosy atmosphere throughout the house with a lovely history. Leisure facilities an added bonus.

From our arrival to our departure our experience was literally perfect! On arrival we were given a tour of the hotel before being shown to our room for the evening (Lochnagar suite). The cosy sitting room features comfortable seating, tv, complimentary mini bar, workstation, storage and a beautifully written welcome guide along with a history of the property and the MacRobert Trust. The bathroom has a luxuriously deep bath with overhead rainfall and standard shower heads. There are multiple lighting options which are perfect for us girls, lovely towels, toiletries and underfloor heating. The bedroom again has an abundance of storage options, full length mirror, tv, bedside tables with sockets & usb points and a wonderfully comfortable bed. When I say they have thought of everything….they genuinely have! We were served tea, coffee & cake in the piano room mid afternoon which was a really nice touch. Cocktails from the bar are lovely, the staff are very knowledgable and passionate about the ingredients and where they are produced. As part of our package we had a reservation for the tasting menu with wine pairings which is served in the library. The food, wine and service were amazing! The thoughtfulness shown to our dietary requirements far exceeded our expectations. Breakfast is served in the beautiful conservatory. There’s an extensive offering with continental, full breakfast and lighter options. We took advantage of the onsite health club and went for a post breakfast swim & sauna. The facilities are fantastic and very clean. Douneside have perfected the definition of hospitality. The staff are what makes this hotel and their pride in their roles emanates around the resort. I hope they are all very proud at the standard they set! We cannot wait to return in the near future.

I attended my nieces wedding this month in Douneside House Hotel. The situation was marvellous, the hotel lovely, room and bed extremely comfortable but I think the secret weapon of the hotel is its staff. Behind scenes, waiting staff and front of house were unfailingly friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much to ask and they ensured a great time had by all. So thank you to you a!!. Merry Christmas
