In many years I’ve never come across a place quite like Craigellachie Lodge. It’s nothing short of a unique gem in the heart of Speyside. The Lodge itself is a stunning old house in Craigellachie which is a magical wee town on the banks of the river Spey. It’s situated in the heart of Craigellachie but cutely nestled at the end of its own private driveway tunnelled and secluded by rhododendrons. On arrival, you’re always thoroughly warmly welcomed as if you were old friends, with big smiles and good cheer. Once settled in you can mosey back around to the well furnished cosy Whisky Bar. The Bar is finely curated with some of the most excellent and occasionally very rare whisky available. The bar is the pride and joy of Scott, one of the Lodge’s proprietors and you’ll be able to find some real gems there. I’m not going to tell you what bottles Scott’s keeping hold of there.. because I want some of the stuff to still be there by the next time I visit. :D The Lodge is run by Jodi and Scott and their excellent staff who work to keep the experience at Craigellachie Lodge tip top. You’ll be invited to dine in their excellent Restaurant which I highly recommend. The food is extremely good and the Restaurant itself is cosy and welcoming and relaxing. If you’ve already made plans that’s never a problem, they’re not precious and there’s of course no obligation or expectation that you’ll eat in the Lodge. The Lodge is more of a Hotel than a BnB, but it definitely very cleverly blends the two. They’ll never see you go without and if you need recommendations of other places to go or visit or do, the amazing staff or Scott or Jodi are always keen to help out and give recommendations. I recommend doing the Whisky Tasting experience in the Speyside Whisky Shop which has connections to The Lodge. We also hired bikes from Right To Roam which is nearby. I recommend taking the bikes down the Speyside Way to visit The Glenallachie Distillery, Aberlour Distillery and The Speyside Whisky shop in Aberlour. You can also now cycle to Rothes, the town to the North of Craigellachie. Doing all of this in one day makes for a particularly good day. The staff and proprietors at Craigellachie Lodge are the most accommodating people I’ve ever met and went out their way to ensure my Father and I had a truly unforgettable experience. On one occasion we lacked suitable transportation for the short journey up to The Macallan Distillery and Jodi helped us out by transporting us there without any hassle. You can’t really ask for much more than that. The rooms are extremely comfortable, clean and homely. Each room is a little different. On this occasion, my Father and I stayed in Aigan, a cosy twin room with en-suite. On my previous stay my wife and I stayed in The Apple Room. A very beautiful double room with en-suite. The rooms are cleaned each day and beds made up. Amazingly and cleverly done while you’re enjoying the hotel breakfast. The Breakfast is amazing! Easily the best
