The Oakes estate museum is an excellent local museum that does a great job of looking at the mining industry in the Kirkland Lake area. It also contains a small art gallery, and a good gift shop.

It was nice to step back in time and learn about some of the towns history. This is a mining town and it was interesting to learn about that and the challenges involved in mining.
