Great bit of nostalgia. Had to queue, but not long. Buy your tickets onboard. Travelled on line 1 along the shore of the Douro, you can get off along the line if you wish. €8 return.

Old tram

I tried this old tram way. The tram was very crowded with toirists. The journey was slow pace and it was interesting for me.

Not worth the money

We waited over 50 minutes for our tram (number 1). This tram is supposedly every 20 minutes. At about the 40 minute mark a tram arrived, unloaded then parked up. 5 minutes later a second tram arrived ...

the old fashioned way

The easiest way to get from the center or the river bank to the beach. Every 20 minutes. Tram 18 and 1. Slow but nice views. Cheap. You can pay by card on the tram.
