This age is one of the ways you can enter the castle. It is a nice display of the way that gates to castles were built way back then... go through and continue to see the castle ;-)

会津若松城の表門(跡)
北出丸から椿坂を上り、本丸に通じる会津若松城の大手門です。 かつては、門の上に多聞櫓と呼ばれた櫓が建てられていて、藩主の登城や非常事態などの合図に使用する直径1.8mの大太鼓が備え付けられていたことに因む名称。 現在は建築時の仕様を表す「打ち込み接ぎ(はぎ)」の石垣だけが遺っていますが、 付近は当然ながら桝形になっており、背後には武者走りも残され、美しいだけではなかった実践型の城の特徴の一旦...
一人旅
会津若松へ一人旅。車で観光地を回りました。 お城の石垣が好きです。特に角がすきです。石組みがとても綺麗です。 また、戦国の世であれば、入り口は上り坂で、突き当たって右に曲がり通路が狭くなり、上からの攻撃をするなら絶好の場所です。当時の映像が浮かんできます。
門はない
太鼓「門」ですが門の部分は現存していなくて石垣だけでした。直角に曲がっているので攻める側には見通しが効かず不安になるような構造でした。
重厚な石垣
北出丸から本丸へと続くいわば鶴ヶ城の大手門、の跡。かつて立派な櫓に太鼓が備えられていたことからその名がついた。たしかに重厚な石垣が残っているが太鼓門「跡」としないところがとても不思議。
