Service was great. Food was great. Facilities were clean and tidy. The overall experience was excellent. Would definitely patronise this service any day, any time. Thank you.
We had a lovely stay at the William Cecil, with children and grandparents in three double rooms. The staff were delightful and couldn’t have been more accommodating. They arranged a ground floor room for grandad and two twins, as requested. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel and the quality of the food was very good.
The rooms were lovely. Quite compact but very nice, comfortable beds, nice toiletries and a coffee machine, which was super.
Arrived in the first room to find what looked blood on the floor in the room. Promptly changed via reception.
Air conditioning on our floor was broken and fixed on the second day but a bad night due to hitting 26 degrees in the room and an extremely hard and uncomfortable bed
New topper fitted and a sheet and fan left by housekeeping made for a better second night's sleep.
The new room had a bouncy floor in the bathroom due to the grouting being broken and missing letting water in.
Both rooms had sinks that where crazy cracked and with black in the cracks
Shower leaked on the hose
Some channels not available on the free view tv
Power cables where exposed on the wall lights
Corridor carpets are tired and dirty with lots of black marks and bleach spots from housekeeping
The window in the rooms where tiny and the room lighting is quite poor
Breakfast was fine usual continental and fried available
With fruit yoghurt lovely view of lincon
Enjoyed the stay once the room was sorted and changed
But I did expect better and would have preferred not to have complained
We choose this hotel as it was close to where our friends live. We booked 3 double rooms and even though we weren’t in them for long, they were lovely and clean. Staff weee super nice and friendly
The location wasn’t too bad as we could travel to where we wanted to go. The windmill was a great place to eat and for a good price too.

We stayed only for two nights. I guess the hotel is very old and the floor is very uneven. Whole room is slanted to one side. Kind of weird but ok. We tried the hotel restaurant and the food was very nice. Parking is also quite secured.
Easy to check in. Single room has plenty of space. Great choice for breakfast. Very helpful staff. Close to everything, from the sights of Spalding to great places to drink and eat.
The staff were friendly, and the check-in and check-out process was simple. The self-service breakfast was plentiful and hygienic.
The hotel lobby was comfortable, with a bar where you could enjoy a drink in the evening while watching sports or tv shows.
The room was clean and tidy.
The parking lot charges a fee, but I arrived on Saturday night and was able to park on the street for free until Sunday, so it wasn’t much of an issue.
Overall, the value for money was excellent.
The hotel was brilliant and a great location next to the retail park with many options for food - but there is an option for evening meal and breakfast deal with hotel + beefeater pub opposite. Had some trouble checking in but it was not the hotel's fault it was with the booking through this app - Trip. The women behind the desk was helpful and all was resolved. Never had issues with train bookings but first time with hotels.

SSamThe staff were friendly and the actual hotel was quite elegant. The grounds were amazing, and there were plenty of lovely places for photos with colourful flowers. We ate dinner in the hotel and the presentation of the food and the quality was excellent. The steak was cooked to perfection. The mushroom risotto wasn't quite as good as it had some crunchy bits of rice in it. It needed about 10 minutes longer on a slow heat, and then it would have been perfect; as it wasn't that hot either.
This hotel boasts that it has a spa, swimming pool, and lots of different spa room experiences. Normally, when you use the leisure facilities connected to the hotel that you're staying in, they provide towels free of charge.
Not this one. We walked over with our swimwear and room key card to be told that towels were £1 each. We explained that we didn't bring a wallet, money, or a phone to pay with. We asked if they could charge it to our room. They couldn't!! They said that you can use the one in your hotel room or walk back to the hotel reception and they'd give us them. Not helpful at all.
Then, we went in to find the two foot spa's didn't work, and when I said it to the leisure centre manager, his reply was ' I know as I reported them last week'. But not a sign on them to say that they weren't working!
Overall, the hotel needed a bit of a spruce up; but they made up for it with friendly staff.
We paid to play a 9 hole game of golf and the staff in the golf shop was amazing.
GGastnutzerAfter a little confusion with the entry system to the room, it was mainly my fault for misunderstanding the message, but this was dealt with swiftly with a call to the 24 support number. Perhaps listing the entry process and room entry system under 2 clear, separate headings in the communications may have made it clearer. It was also implied that the parking bays were in some way numbered or identifiable with the room number, but this wasn't the case. Apart from those small things, both dealt with quickly the room was clean, a good size and offered plenty of refreshments & breakfast options for us. The shared spaces were clean and appeared welcoming. Bed was comfy and shower great, but curtains or a blind would have been appreciated over the thin net panel window covering which was present. Would definitely come back again, good distance from the castle - about 30 mins walk - good value for price paid
DDaniel069As a solo traveler, I felt right at home at The St. James Hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with any request. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. The hotel's central location made it easy to explore Grimsby's attractions and local cuisine. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

JJazchazStaff were good at check in and were polite, however when another guest caused us problems and I could have escalated it a lot further, the staff didn’t really want to know or seem to care, weren’t helpful or very empathetic I had to contact trip to get resolved. It ruined the weekend away and it made me want to also leave early it really wasn’t a great time away.
It was well located and had a fuel station nearby which stocked plenty of food choices and a Greggs even ! Location was good for transport ample parking too.
The cleanliness was overall a 50/50 there was dust where perhaps there shouldn’t be lampshades top headboard, was a tad dated but functional, and the bed was comfy. Bathroom was overall ok, modern in some areas others lacking a bit and looking tired.
Breakfast wasn’t too bad, but some bits I found weren’t to my own taste the bacon was odd to me but being a buffet type Ijust didn’t have it again, they did have pastry’s, cereal toast and condiments with drinks like juice, water tea coffee etc.

GGastnutzerWe had a wonderful stay here previously and so returned for a night. This time it wasn't quite as pleasant. The toilet seat in the bathroom had a big crack in the lid and was more than just loose in the sense that it almost came off when sat on. The shower curtain was mouldy and uncleaned mirrors and cobwebs. The staff were all very pleasant and the bar and restaurant area were lovely. I did use the toilets at the bar. One was taken and the other 2 cubicles were soiled so maybe not checked as often as required.
Overall the room was warm and there was lots of storage space and a nice big bed. It wasn't unpleasant although I'd not be as keen to return again as I was last time.
GGastnutzerAll the staff were friendly efficient and very helpful. The room was very clean spacious and beautifully decorated in keeping with the age of building yet and uncluttered contemporary feel. Room temperature was controllable and the provisions, TV etc. of excellent quality. Next time we would look to have dinner there as the breakfast restaurant was of the same excellent standard with everything beautifully cooked fresh, hot and well presented. We were able to park and this plus the location in Stamford made the stay very relaxing and enjoyable. A big thank you to Toni on reception who was very helpful and friendly.
