Hawk House

As a company we booked three rooms for our mobile team who were working away. We looked at the website and pictures and thought what a nice place. HOW WRONG WERE WE. Not sure where to start, the rooms had never seen a hoover as you will see from the pictures, there were dead spiders on the skirting board. There was mold around the room, A massive stain on the ceiling. One of the rooms had two single beds in on inspection of the sheets one has a massive yellow stain and the other has multiple hairs on the sheets. The guys didn't turn up till late there was no one to check them in the keys were in the doors. we tried to call the number we used to book with no answer. our guys refused to stay the rest of the booked nights. We have tried to speak to the owner but he never calls you back and reused any refund. My advice would be not to book here at any cost.

We used to stay here years ago when we came down to Somerset to visit my Dad and always found it good value with clean rooms but when we stayed last night the experience was a lot different. The rooms are very old and tired and they need to spend some money updating them with new carpets towels bedding etc . Bathroom needs a complete refurbishment as well. Having said all that the breakfast wasn’t too bad and quite a pleasant surprise We won’t be staying there again unfortunately but I feel it’s a shame if the current owners don’t spend any money on it and just run it into the ground . As far as I could tell we were the only guest there so I feel it wont be long . .

I feel like I want to defend this little stop over. I booked this hotel before seeing the reviews and paying for the second night. I asked to view our room before paying for night two and it was fine! We stayed upstairs in a twin room with steel staircase on side of building. The rooms were a code number to enter which I got on arrival. The room was clean and tidy. No it’s not five stars and high end luxury if you want that in the area expect a huge price tag too. Yes the decor is dated but it was clean and functional and really quiet. There is a communal lounge and roof balcony there which I made use of seemed no one else did so we had it to ourselves. My only comment is the tv didn’t work I can’t complain as I didn’t raise it with the owners at the time so no opportunity for them to rectify it. Myself and my son had our devices so decided we didn’t need it looking at. The restaurant next door is Indian and I highly recommend it I would eat here again. We chose not to have breakfast so cannot comment on the food. Yes we would stay here again it’s very good value

Check in was done over the phone, once inside the room the furniture was a little tired & dusty, one unit the veneer was almost off the top. the mattress was very springy and of poor quality. the onsuite had hairs in the sink and a little bit of pee on the toilet seat. The TV was old & small and kept picking up interference from the mobile phone signal, which made it annoying to watch. Was it worth £60 for the night, no it wasn't especially after we'd been in a premier inn the night before for only £35 and the difference in quality and cleanliness was worlds apart. Luxury double it was most certainly not. Also couldn't work out the 3 lamps situation.

Started with incorrect directions being given (relating to roadworks in the area) cleanliness was very bad - including faeces in the toilet brush! When I rang the number given for assistance (at 6pm) I was told that no-one was available after 5.30 pm and that I'd need to sort the problem myself (this was not possible)! Equipment (like TV remote) clearly hadn't been cleaned in an age! Dirty linens left overnight in the corridor outside the room so a fire hazard too. Breakfast in the restaurant was gloomy and bland. No-one seemed to care whether things were good or not.

This place is located off the a303 ideal stop off point heading towards cornwall. Will be using this place again for my Not the person to give a review but this place deserves it. From the easy Check-in, evening Meal, Breakfast to warm and cleaned rooms through out the checking-out. Thank you to the team at the Hawk House.

Better than what the other reviews say, we arrived Saturday afternoon when we arrived. There was a phone number, which we called and collected our keys from the restaurant next door.. The hallway had a pleasant smell, as did the room, which was tidy and clean, and plenty of tea and coffee we did run out of milk. I spoke with the owner, who gave me a pint of milk. The tv is quite small, but everything else was fine. Had lovely, freshly cooked breakfast each morning nothing was too much trouble.

Very much a mixed bag. Check in is done by telephone, when you are told which room is yours, the keys are in the doors. The corridor smells horrible but the room itself was clean and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast is at the restaurant next door who do an excellent evening meal, but breakfast was truly dismal. We arrived 50 mins before the end of breakfast to be told they were closing in 20 mins (& they did lock the door at 10am to make the point). We had to ask for coffee. There were cold sausages, bacon & mushrooms (the buffet heaters were not lit). We were offered freshly cooked scrambled eggs, which were very nice and then when we were eating they came back and asked if we wanted beans. As per my initial comment, not a horrendous stay by any means, but I would definitely not recommend staying there as a solo guest as it is a lone building, on a main road on the outskirts of the local villages and the main entrance is left open for anyone to wander in.

Gave keys back and went to a premiere Inn. Room smelt damp, black mould in bathroom on shower and blinds. Bed felt dirty and I only sat on it to book somewhere else. NOT a b&b to me, just a house with 6 rooms next to an Indian restaurant ( nothing wrong with the restaurant) front door open and keys to your door in the door. Had we stayed breakfast would have been in the restaurant. Felt like Bates motel
