GGastnutzerMy husband and I spent one night here as part of our honeymoon, and it was such a memorable and unique experience. We took the local bus up and only had to walk a few minutes before reaching the place. The hotel was beautiful, peaceful, clean, and quiet. We booked a private onsen and it was well worth every penny. We also added the dinner and breakfast package, and each of the meals were delicious. Such a special experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who has the opportunity. Also, make sure to try the local apples!

AAVNN HolidayMy stay at this ryokan in Shibu Onsen was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was impeccable. The ryokan features private onsen that can be booked in advance, offering an intimate and serene experience. Soaking in the warm, mineral-rich waters while gazing at the surrounding natural beauty was a highlight of the trip.
The ryokan’s free shuttle service made exploring the area incredibly convenient. We were easily transported to the iconic Snow Monkey Park, the nearby train station, and other local attractions, which added to the seamless experience.
The dining experience was nothing short of spectacular. Both private breakfast and dinner were served in a tranquil setting, with beautifully prepared dishes showcasing the best of seasonal and local ingredients. The flavors were authentic and delicious,

GGastnutzerLocated just within 3min from Yudanaka station, Raki Onsenryokan is run by a Chinese family. As a quiet town on its own, no one was tending to the reception when I arrived, after ringing the bell, a lady came down to help with the check in - very straightforward. I believe the family stays in the same building as they said if we ever needed anything, we could just ring the bell at the reception. Obviously I had booked a room too big for a solo traveller as this was the only room left as ”non-smoking”. Toilet and sink are at two different parts of the room which was a little inconvenient. Ryokan offers free drive (15min) TO snow monkey park, but not return, so please cater at least 35min to walk from park exit to the bus stop. Ryokan also provided a hearty breakfast, overall for the price paid it was a decent stay!

BBryce van de LaarFrom the moment you enter Kokuya Ryokan, be prepared to leave the real world behind and fully immerse yourself in the experience. You swap your shoes for slippers at the door and don’t see them again until you leave. You will receive a warm welcome from polite and gentle-mannered staff, get taken up to your beautiful room, and once you’ve changed into your traditional yukata, it’s time to let the relaxation begin. The multi-course dinner will probably be one of the best meals you’ve had in your life, with many unusual textures and flavors to try. The futons are comfortable, and your room is kept toasty warm. There are even skincare products to keep you pampered and moisturized between soaks in the onsen. Honestly, you won’t even need to open your suitcase while you’re there.
The staff will take you through all the logistics when you arrive, but there are some things that might be useful to know in advance.
- The ryokan sends a shuttle to Yudanaka station at about 15:00 to collect new arrivals, so time your journey to take advantage of this benefit.
- The ryokan also offers guests the opportunity to catch a shuttle to the Snow Monkey Park immediately after breakfast the next morning.
- After you leave the ryokan, they will take your luggage down to the coffee shop opposite the station, so you don’t need to worry about those logistics.
- Trains from Yudanaka back to Nagano leave at 12:30 and 15:30.
- The ryokan itself has several private onsens that you can reserve for a 45-minute slot. Because the onsens are on the property, you can go in with your partner or travel companions regardless of gender. It’s a boutique hotel, so you don’t have to worry about not getting access to all the onsens you want.
- The ryokan is on the main road of the Shibu Onsen town. The hotel will give you a key so you can wonder down the main road, visiting any of the public onsens you wish - however, with so many gorgeous and more private onsens in the hotel itself, you probably won’t have time or the desire for this.
- Also, there is a coffee machine in the room! (I was worried about having to survive without coffee, and this turned out to be an unfounded concern).
We had an incredible and totally indulgent time at Kokuya. Experiencing a traditional ryokan is a privilege that you should try at least once if you can. And adding the Snow Monkeys in give the trip a double purpose, making it that much more memorable. The only thing that would have made the trip better is if we had been allowed to linger longer over every course of our dinner.

The place is super grand and 2 onsens. A Instagram worthy one that the males and females get to use it at different timings. The shower stuff in the onsen are mediocre though. No fancy facial stuff for women unlike some other onsens at this price range.
We had breakfast and dinner for the 2 nights. And well worth it. But you have to follow a fixed timing and we felt a bit rushed but otherwise it was really great and service perfect.
We had one the biggest rooms I believe Room 716. Had a sitting area and also a sleeping area. Easily fits 8 persons. We were only 2. In the day they kept the futons and brought it out at night. Towels changed every night.
There is a van that goes straight to Mount Yokoteyama ski resort. The receptionist didn't seem to know about it but you could try to Google. It was a complimentary ride to and fro if you bought the lift tickets. Took only like 30 mins to get there. You can get rentals at hotels there.

Wir besuchten den Snow Monkey Park, der fantastisch war, und dann gingen wir in dieses Hotel, um den traditionellen japanischen Lebensstil und die natürlichen heißen Quellen kennenzulernen. Es gibt eine heiße Quelle drinnen und draußen. Außerdem wurde uns ein traditionelles 7-Gänge-Menü zum Abendessen und Frühstück in unserem eigenen privaten Raum serviert! Meine Kinder waren beeindruckt und sagten, es sei einer der schönsten Teile Japans!

HHenry 7hangUnsere Familie machte eine besondere Reise von Tokio nach Nagano, und neben der Erforschung der umliegenden Attraktionen, die Schneemonen in den heißen Frühlingen von Nozawa zu sehen, und dem Togakushi-Shrin besuchte, war der Schwerpunkt dieser Reise in Issa no Komichi Biyu no Yado.
Zunächst hatten wir bescheidene Erwartungen, als nur eine weitere Erfahrung. Aber nach der Ankunft in der schneeigenen Yudanaka Shibu Onsen waren wir unverzüglich von der warmen und professionellen Gastfreundschaft beeindruckt. Von der bedenklichen Empfang bis zum exquisiten Abendessen und der einzigartigen öffentlichen Einheit überstieg jeder Aspekt unsere Erwartungen und ließ uns zufriedenstellend überrascht. Das war nicht nur ein Hotel stayit war eine unvergessliche Reise in das Herz der japanischen Onsenkultur.
Wenn Sie eine Reise nach Nagano planen, ist dies sicherlich ein Ort, der es wert ist, die perfekte Mischung von heißen Frühlingen und Natur zu erleben!

TTravelKingDer Besitzer ist ein bisschen exzentrisch und kümmert sich mehr um seine Tagesdrama. Auch hat er einen Dalmatian, der er in der Ecke des Wohnzimmers hält. Der Hund ist immer scharf und kann manchmal ziemlich beunruhigend sein. Auch ich denke, der Hund hat geuriert, als der Besitzer ihn immer in der Kette hält. Wenn Sie sich also nicht um den schweren Geruch eines Hunds und eines unfreundlichen Besitzers kümmern, dann schauen Sie sich an anderer Stelle an.
Positive sind die Esel ist sehr heiß und gut. Essen ist über dem Durchschnitt und die Zeit, die sie nehmen, um es in den Details zeigen. Die Zimmer sind japanischer Stil und Basis. Keine Ausstiegs-Plugs für Ladegeräte.
Ich würde nicht mehr hier bleiben.

GGastnutzerWir hatten eine wunderbare Erfahrung im Biwaike Hotel. Es ist ein Ski in und aus und sehr bequem gelegen in der Nähe der Sonnenbrücke Busshaltestelle, die Ihnen bei Reisen mit Gepäck helfen. Einchecken war direkt vorwärts. Herr Tokutake, der das kleine Hotel hält, war sehr freundlich, uns zu ermöglichen, unsere Skiausrüstung schnell zu bekommen. Passe waren leicht zu bekommen, abhängig von der Anzahl der Tage, die Sie planen zu skiieren und dem Bereich, in dem Sie Ski fahren wollen. Das Abendessen und das Frühstück waren lecker und nach einem langen Tag Skifahren war es wunderbar, in der Esel zu schwammen, die offensichtlich mit natürlichem Frühlingswasser gefüllt ist. Das Zimmer selbst ist ausreichend, sehr groß, die Futons waren komfortabel genug. Das Zimmer war gut erhitzt und es gibt Verkaufsmaschinen unten, um Getränke zu bekommen, sowie ein kleiner Komfortladen, um sofortige Nüsse, Eiscreme und Snacks zu bekommen.
So glücklich mit meiner Erfahrung dort :) Das Team war graziös, Gastfreund und wir konnten nichts mehr beantragen.

GGastnutzerFirst off, the staff are lovely. Even with a language barrier they were friendly, and the reception man was kind. I've stayed at Villa about 4 times now, but this was the first time in about 11 years. Sadly there is a lot that needs to be fixed. The pricing has increased heavily since I was last here. Whilst it is very close to the ski lifts of Ichinose Family, this is a budget accommodation. But I would still expect it to be cleaned more regularly. The rooms are fine, but the hallways, and common areas look very dated and have paint peeling, cracks showing, carpet is old, worn and dirty, and nothing would imply it is being maintained.
We never had dinner here, but breakfast was a buffet style, and whether it's worth it to you or not is a personal thing.
The convenience store downstairs is only open at night times, and not every day. I remember the restaurant at ground level facing the road served excellent gyoza, ramen and beer. Sadly it's been closed for a while and used as storage.
I don't want Villa to become like the rest of the hotels in Ichinose, only for school groups or super expensive because of their proximity to the ski lifts, but it really needs to have some money invested in the property, replacing old and damaged decor, and carpets professionally cleaned yearly.
But thank you to all the staff for being lovely and kind people.
