My brother and I were weeklong guests at this hotel. While the rooms were well-appointed and the location convenient, these positives were overshadowed by a troubling experience after our stay. More than 12 hours after we checked out, the hotel made a fraudulent charge on our credit card for a purported "Market Bar" purchase. At no point in the week did we purchase any "market" items. Nor did we take any minibar items from the room. One is left to conclude that hotel management is either incompetent (for failing to maintain an accurate inventory and accounting system) or fraudulent (for instituting deceptive practices to add phantom charges to guest folios). A call to the hotel did not result in a firm commitment to refund the charge, only a vague "we'll look into it". I am not sure what there is to look into, given that we clearly identified the charge at issue. In any case, we will be closely monitoring the hotel's resolution (or lack thereof) of this matter. If unresolved, we will be reporting this hotel to the California AG and filing a credit card chargeback for the full amount of the fraudulent charge.
