A wonderful place for us to stay. We love history and originality, so to stay in a monastery which is part of an historic church was ideal for us. The room was clean, comfortable and warm. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are many places of interest nearby and access to the centre of the city is easy. We also found great places to eat. For people who don’t want luxury we don’t think you will find anywhere better.

A good review is needed. Simple and friendly with a pleasant breakfast. Quiet and just a well needed place to rest while you experience rome. Good for pilgrims and near to collusseum. A nice bakery on the corner over the road.room was clean and functional and shower was hot and didn't leak.

Pros to the hotel: Good location : around 20min walk away from the colosseum Cons to the hotel: The bedroom: the most uncomfortable bed , I think sleeping on the floor would have been more comfortable - small and not the cleanest Breakfast: awful - described as a buffet , definitely wasn’t - no self service, poor choice just pastries and cold meats

Just home from 3 nights in Rome staying at this hotel & Cannot fault it. Rooms, whilst bare, were absolutely fine and done their job well. The location is amazing for walking into the centre and back. Lovely views and the staff were so helpful. I would highly recommend

Let’s start at the beginning . We arrived to be greeted by the most helpful members of Staff . Friendly and lucky for us good English . We were shown to our room (family room ) through the church into the left hand wing . It was clean , basic but perfectly comfortable. Beautiful shutters at the window . The view was pretty shocking they could do with some **** killer & a few pots . But hey we were hardly in the room . The bathroom was clean - the shower was functional but old . Hot water always available- soap & sachets of shower gel supplied . Lovely big bath sheets , plus larger size hand towels . 4 of each . Great position for metro just round the corner and very easy to navigate . Beautiful park literally next door . Great shop/stalls for refreshments just down from the hotel . Water fountain outside the hotel so you can refill bottles everyday with sparkling or still water . A wonderful cafe / bistro opposite called caffe Italia best pastries & serve a mean Hugo spritz it’s open 24 hours too ! The church within the hotel is breath taking and there is a lovely chap that sits at the gates all day looking after it he has the kindest face & always said good morning- good night . We lit candles inside and sat with our thoughts - it truly is a serene place . Then we discovered the roof top well WOW we took our own drinks and plastic cups and sat of an evening watching the sun go down . I don’t think you will find a better view of Rome for the price this is . Breakfast was simple but plentiful - pastries , yogurt , fruit , cake , bread , ham & cheese . English breakfast tea ! Was a good one (twinnings ) coffee strong and good . Water juice available, biscuits . No there isn’t a full English but a true Roman breakfast ! When in Rome right ? The beds could do with new mattresses but weren’t dreadful at all . Don’t go in with super high expectations - why would you being in the lower price band of Rome ? (I’m saying this after having read reviews before we arrived ) The room was cleaned & beds made everyday we were there . Our room had a little fridge . The safety deposit box is free - however it’s not attached to anything - so could be lifted out 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ so we used our lockable suit cases . I have to say I felt 100% safe in this part of Rome and wasn’t worried about theft or mugging or pick pocketing (having read again horror stories online ) There is a super cool medieval themed restaurant round the corner called Avalon if you’re travelling with children you must visit . We ordered a mixed grill that came on a sword !! Very cool and fun . Overall I cannot fault our stay or the staff or the surroundings . If we ever return to Rome I wouldn’t hesitate to rebook !

We visited Rome for the second time one week ago with our 2 years old kid and both grandmothers. All 3 rooms were booked by me, through my travel agency and, due to all my past experiences, one week before the check-in, I wrote an e-mail to the hotel to make sure everything is all right. I recived the confirmation and when we arrived at the hotel they tried to convince me that the rooms were made separately and they will be in different wings. I did not like the fact that they tried to put the blame on me, although I told them I work in tourism for almost 20 years now. The single room from the Aurelian Wing was a storage room initialy, because, with all due respect, no human being should pay for that kind of room. Incredibly small, bathroom full of rust, dirty, mold smelling and paper walls. Their excuse was that the room is a single one. This doesn't mean that the room should be small and old and smelly and rusty. Although this was not my mistake, I had to pay for an upgrade because, as I said before, nobody should stay in that kind of room. So if you can avoid to check-in in room P31, go ahead ! Otherwise, the building is incredibly beautiful, the rooms in the main building are clean. Bathrooms need restoration. Also, the breakfast was the weirdest one I had until now. You are not allowed to pick your food or coffee, you stay in line and somebody will serve you what you show them. The terrace where breakfast is served has an incredible view. The hotel is a 10 minutes walk distance from the St. Giovanni metro station. There are pizza shops, farmacy, a small shop. Almost all reception staff were friendly, helpfull and kind. If the building will be renovated and the bathrooms installation changed, this would be a hotel I would recommend.

I booked a superior room which looks great on the photos but when we arrived the room had no drawers for our cloths so we lived out of our suitcase. The wardrobe was not high enough to stop our cloths touching the floor. The bed was 2 single metal beds pushed together with 2 single mattresses. Not what we expected having paid extra.

Stayed for 3 nights, staff friendly, room very basic but clean. Breakfast is ok but you have to ask for everything which is weird, unable to even use the coffee/hot water machine yourself either. Area is very run down, lots of litter, supermarket and bakery across the road. Hotel is quite a way outside central Rome or the train station area, so lots of walking if you stay here unless you use taxis. Would not return to Rome, found the city dirty and overcrowded, so therefore would not return to this hotel either,

Where to begin. The positives, staff friendly and helpful. Area nice. The negatives, the furniture was fit for the skip, old and tatty. The bed was rock hard and the pillows were totally flat. The decor was in desperate need of redoing. Rooms not conducive to relaxing in any way. Not enough plug sockets and the ones that were there were behind the bedside tables. Only one mirror which was in the bathroom. The bathroom door didnt open wide enough as it hit the wash basin, bathroom was nasty. The whole place needed some love and attention as it was extremely tired and jaded. Breakfast was a joke. A pathetic selection of food. There was no yoghurts, eggs or any hot food, not even toast! Instead of a buffet style where you help yourself, you had to queue and tell them what you want as you look over the couter. The building was lovely as was the Bassilica. It could be a fantastic place with some upgrades. My biggest gripe was NO tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Surely even in the most basic hotels that should be provided.
